Loved the art at this co-operative society. Large variety of styles and size of paintings. Very reasonable prices, even pre-bargaining. A helpful English speaking representative guided me around the place. While all the art is mostly canvas mounted on frames, he told me they could take it off the frames, so it could fit easily inside a suitcase. Unfortunately, they only accept cash and I wasn't carrying any as I had just landed in Tanzania and I didn't have the opportunity to return - but will definitely go back on my next trip to Dar Es Salaam.

When in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, highly recommend visiting and taking the time to meet each of the artists. They are so talented and each have a story to share.

Usual touristy stuff, don't come looking for real art, it is far from it. Painters sitting making copies after copies of the once original art piece..you can haggle and bring down the price to 50%

Satisfied cause I had a specific painting that I wanted and I knew they sell it here but If you are looking for pure art this place is not it. I was Impressed the first time I got there but after a while I felt like there is no real art, its more like a painting factory

Authentic Tanzanian arts, some arts are unique but some of them are just lot a look alike in many other shops in this artists community center. Anyone going to Slipway beach can stop here and visit easily, just about 500m fefore Slipway. 2ftx3ft arts I bought were marked with 85K TZS but they gave a good discount. Very friendly people there, but you need to have an artistic eye to pic the good from ordinary. I bought multiple large painting coz they look Authentic and also nice, and also in the mindset of helping the community. They only take cash. They remove the arts canvas from the frame and roll it if you will be travelling, but I prefer you find a protective case to carry them without any damages in transit. Definitely recommend anyone to visit.
