Had a lovely experience at the oldest building in Dar Es Salaam ❤️ Relaxed and had a beer and light lunch. Definitely a place you need to visit when in Town. Friendly staff...nice service .good food. Great value for money. AMAZING VIEWS 🤩 See for yourself ☺️ I would highly recommend this hidden gem. It sticks out from the tall architecture that surrounds it since it's only a few storeys high, but the history that is the old Boma lives on to this day and I hope for hundreds of years to come...❤️

The building is fantastic and off course it deserves a visit. My wife and I had a coffee in the cafeteria in the roof. There where you can enjoy the view and the music. The waiter was very kind the place all in all was fantastic yet the only thing that the coffee machine was broken so we couldn't have our cappuccino and 🤦‍♂️so we ordered the African coffee, I mean how it comes that in a fascinating place like that you don't fix the issue immediately! Anyway, I strongly recommend this place , at least for a visit 😘 The guy who works in the reception was helpful and polite. We bought a souvenir from the shop , yet we couldn't see the exhibition because we were there after 17h00 so it was close.

Old Boma is conveniently located by the Zanzibar ferry terminal and we dropped in after our ferry docked. It was difficult to navigate to as there are major roadworks happening outside and so we entered via the rear gardens, where people are seated eating - seeming to be from local businesses. After asking, a waitress took us into the old building - apparently the sultan's former guest house (his actual house had been demolished nearby to make way for the towering Johari hotel. Once we reached the roof garden, unfortunately they only had white rice, which we ordered with barbecued chicken. The rice was ok, served with some rather bland beans, although the chicken was really good and so we ordered another portion, that was not quite so good and the cold chips it was served with pretty poor - the food being run up the stairs from the kitchen in the garden below. It does serve beer, and I enjoyed a Safari. There are nice views from the roof.

Get an expereince of the old Dar Es Salaam of 1860's at the present time. The building is not only old by itself, but it has a permanent exhibition of the evolution of Dar Es Salaam from the 17th century up to date. How the buildings were constructed, by who, when, the fate of the buildings, etc etc.... It is really worth a visit.

Beautifully restored, and one of Dar's few old buildings you can also see from the inside. Inside there is a permanent exhibition on the history of Dar whixh is very thorough and insightful, but also remains accessible to this not familiar with Tanzania's history. They also sell some nice postcards of the city. Don't forget to ask whether you can visit their gorgeous rooftop (which can also be rented as a venue for parties). In short: must see for those visiting Dar. For those only passing through on their way to Zanzibar a perfect thing to do while waiting for the ferry, as it is just across from the ferry terminal.

Very ancient construction and early state building in Mzizima, now called Dar es Salaam. It was built by Arabs and later Germans inherited it. It was used by Sultan Said and also a slave camp for shipments to the gulf's middle east. The area now is a museum and historical heritage building. At the roof top there is an open restaurant and other investments to support the costs of maintenance.

Cozy roof top restaurant and bar with a view of the harbor. A nice oasis in the city. The opening hours are longer than they say here on Google. The restaurant is open later than the museum.

Interesting exhibition in the old boma telling the history of Dar es Salaam through the pre-colonial, German, British and modern eras. Worth a visit, 5,000 TZS fee per person. Go to the roof for a nice view.

It has a very nice sea view but going to the roof you have to take stairs in which for the old person or sick person is hard but if your strong when you reach to the top it is all worth it.

Nice and not expensive restaurant located on the top of old building called Old Boma. It offers different alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, beer, soda, coke etc. It's very good place to take some rest in very crowded downtown. The building is also very interesting as it's old building from 19th century.

(Translated by Google) You can also avoid entering. Inside there is nothing but a German safe that remained closed and never opened (Original) Si può anche evitare di entrare. Dentro non c'è nulla se non una cassaforte tedesca rimasta chiusa e mai aperta

👍👍 Great vibe, always a pleasure being here. Oceanic/fish theme decor is very creative and fun. Food is great, every single dish I ever tasted here was amazing. Watch out for the waiters though they can mess with your order and/or bill and have an attitude when you call them out.
