The staff are friendly, location is great, however there is room for improvement where accommodation is concerned. They have studio apartments, one to three bedroom apartments, 24/7 room service.

At the heart of Oyster bay, this is a great place that gives one a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The rooms are well maintained, neat and designed. The service is great and one feels like home when here.

Clean rooms. Friendly services. The location is so convenient as it’s located just before the traffic gets busy and gives you options to go to town or Masaki which has lots of eating places and shopping.

Located a bit far from the city centre, a. Quite place off the city traffic once you are here. It is beautifully made with only ground and first floor rooms. Food is nice and it offers a bar facility as well. You can dine here. A good size swimming pool to relax. The ambience is quite good, Ample parking space available. Common washrooms are available and very clean and tidy.

VERY DIRTY MARRIOTT HOTEL but the gym and breakfast were nice. Warning: Dirty towels!!! 2 of us stayed but only 1 towel and we had to ask for extra. Worst part: 1) new towels still had stains?!?!? 2) no change of bedsheets for 5 NIGHTS?!!!? (Btw, the bedsheet also had stains, that’s why we know) 3) first told us we shall be able to upgrade, but next moment be like “unfortunately we are full at the moment” and it wasn’t even full cuz for 5- day mornings, we see how few guests went to the breakfast. Not trying to be demanding but we spent quite some time in the hotel and it was quite empty and our room was next to the reception. Good part: 1 star for breakfast. We enjoyed it a lot and the staff from the restaurant were super nice. 1 star for the gym. So total 2 stars ⭐️⭐️

The worst hotel I had ever experienced .the first room with a bad toilet ´so I had to changed the room (which is not the same type I order)the second day the wifi cannot connection,then there was no hot water,so I cannot took shower, than the water just not came even the cold one,and it was not only my room but all hôtel no water (but the restaurant service was good ) (and also I booked the hotel in their website there was no choice for how many people will stay ,we were two ,so when we arrived the reception charged extra money ) and also almost all the room is dark

We arrived as a group of 7 and had the most amazing experience at Protea Hotel. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. I'd like to thank Fatima, Zam Zam, Kareem, Sadida and Sunam who provided us with the best service and made our stay pleasurable. The facilities are clean and well kept. There is nothing that I can fault at this establishment. After reading many bad reviews, we were skeptical. However, we would definitely return to this hotel in the future and would recommend it to any friends and family who may travel to Dar es Salaam.

In the hospitality business, you can easily spot a professional and committed team from a mile away. Sunam and the team here were exceptional. The rooms were great, the environment peaceful and clean, the food was lovely and service was top-notch. I’m glad I stayed here, and will definitely be back. After staying in this hotel, I would wish to ask the GoogleMaps team to make 2 small additions to this app. First, there needs to be an easy way to show that a 5-star rating is not sufficient to describe some levels of service. Second, there needs to be a way to put comments on the reviews of others to show that some old complaints are no longer the case. My experience was super satisfactory, and I’d totally recommend this place to anyone visiting Dar es Salaam.

Stunning hotel in Dar Es Salaam. Stayed for four days whilst hiring two conference rooms for a hosted event. Staff at the hotel were so helpful with support for the event and also with my stay after the event. There is plenty to see in the local area and Zanzibar is not far if you have a day or two to explore. Good food, quiet and relaxing atmosphere and great value for money. Looking forward to visiting again

Nice and safe hotell. Very good service at the reception. Big rooms with air conditioning, even a little kitchen. The shower was not very luxurious. Hotell restaurant service was quite slow.. But the breakfast was very nice with frech fruits. Nice pool fot a little swim.

I stayed for three days two nights (solo), and their service was amazing from the airport pick up driver Abbas really gave me a warm welcome to Tanzania and then Getrude Goodwill. She is a valuable asset to this hotel and to me. she really welcomed me to the hotel and to my room and the reception staff were truly wonderful. I communicated to Getrude from Whatsapp when I was in Malawi and she really was informative and she gave me all the details for whatever questions was asked so I was able to come fully prepared to Tanzania as it was my first time coming to Tanzania. The entire staff were really really helpful and welcoming and they really give us a positive vibe of how Tanzania is and how their people are and how they treat us and they are amazing services. Their food was delicious and well made, it’s a very peaceful environment and I stayed in the loft suite. Overall, the service was excellent and I would highly recommend anyone coming to Tanzania to stay in this hotel for as long as you wish because they would provide you a beautiful experience and excellent service from them and special. Thanks to the staff of Protea Hotel oyster bay,and special thanks to Getrude Goodwill, a real gem of a woman.

Property is old Fitting and Fixtures are falling apart Gym equipment is old and broken Breakfast is good, only a few menu items get changed every time( there is no monitoring if it needs a refill) The staff is supportive, caring and hospitable

One of the best places to stay in Oyster Bay. The staff members are very friendly and assists wherever they can. The food quality is good and options have increased considerably in the last one year. I have stayed that for about 5 times in the last one year - once for more than a month and then for shorter periods of about a week or so. The experience becomes better every time. Kudos to Suman (Manager) who personally interacts with most of the guests and tries his best to make everyone comfortable.

I travel to Dar Es Salam very frequently for business. Protea Hotel at Oyster Bay is my top choice when it comes to stay. This place is aptly located near to commerical office area (20 minutes drive) and at the same time very near to the beach (10 minutes drive). The rooms are very spacious, comfortable & equipped for short as well as long stays. The facility has swimming pool & health center as well, though I didn't use any of them during my stay. The staff at the reception is very supportive and the check-in/check-out are super smooth. The breakfast buffet has a lot of variety and the chef and F&B team helped me to get my other meals customized to my choice, which is very helpful for business travellers looking to have light and not very indulgent meals. The loft room are really spacious. The double height makes for a great experience. Their breakfast has all those essential things to please a decent breakfast spread.

Honestly it looks nothing like the pictures and grossly over priced. The rooms are outdated, the towels old, the pool is dirty etc. The breakfast was the only good thing. The staff were nice though they kept opening the door without knocking first.

An absolute gem of a hotel. Service excellence from the hotel manager down. You are greeted by one of the friendliest receptionists and everyone of the staff members are unrivaled in their willingness to provide you with a memorable stay.

Was very disappointed in the food. It is not the cheapest hotel and I have visited here many times. This time around, food seemed to lack any quality. Hopefully they pick it up a notch for what they charge. Still a good spot, stable Wi-Fi and very pleasant environment

On the way to the hotel i forgot my phone in a taxi that we took from the small terminal 1 (for local flights) to the hotel. When I realized this the manager and his team were tremendously committed to helping me refund it. The checked the security footage and made many calls to find out who my taxi driver was (which wasn't easy, because they usually only have guest from terminal 3 for international flights.) While they were taking care of things i could go off to dinner and when i got back my phone was waiting for me at the reception!! I honestly did not have much hope, so a big thanks to the taxi driver and the hotel staff! Furthermore the accomodation was also really nice, everything was clean, the air-conditioning and the warm water were great after 2 weeks on the island!

It’s not worth the price. The shower place is not comfortable. The room is not clean. The breakfast is horrible. Not deserve $150 for two person’s one night accommodation.

Good location, neat rooms, air conditioners in good condition, they hardly ever cleaned, the breakfasts are the same type, the service is normal, the staff is very friendly and always ready to help.

Room 21 smells like an ashtray , bathroom light not working and when I showered it flooded into the bedroom. After a long day traveling this was not great experience.

this hotel is on a good location, easy to get from main traffic routes in Dar. it offers suit based rooms so it is good for people looking to stay for longer time. inside beach area is nice. beware of crows stealing your food at breakfast and ask for a room on the opposite side of church/evant center since it gets very loud. staff is very friendly.
