We had a wonderful stay at Slipway in March 2023. The hotel was cozy and inviting, and the surroundings were absolutely stunning. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, and offered breathtaking views of the area. We loved the selection of dining options available in the vicinity, which provided a great opportunity to explore the local cuisine. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure that our stay was enjoyable from start to finish. Overall, we highly recommend Slipway and give it two thumbs up for being a great place to stay. It was a truly memorable experience!

I always have a fantastic experience at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Whether you're interested in watching the sunset or exploring the local bazaar, this hotel offers a perfect combination of relaxation and cultural immersion. The bazaar is a wonderful place to wander around and soak up the local culture. The breathtaking view of the sunset is absolutely mesmerizing, and I always find myself eagerly anticipating to watch the sunset each evening from the comfort of the hotel’s benches.

I came to Dar from the northern part of the country. Here there is electricity and running water all the time, I loved that. Slipway is a wonderful place to stay, shop, eat and or get a drink. There is a beauty shoreline right outside the hotel. It is full of shops, places to eat and beautiful views. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I will stay there again if I am in that area. Very reasonable prices.

A very nice and cosy place. Spacious rooms with all amenities. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Great and humble staff. Best African meals. Located between the beach and main road. Different standalone restaurants are available for a variety of cuisines. Well equipped kids playing ground.

It was OK for one night. I used it for a one-night stopover and in hindsight should have chosen a downtown location due to the distance from the airport. The rooms are clean but the furniture, carpeting and decor are dated (I stayed in the newer building), the bed linen had a nauseating smell of some cheap fabric softener or similar. There is not much to do around, walking is limited, the views were ok but perhaps this was due to the rainy and cloudy weather. Souvenir shops in the complex had no prices displayed so that turned me off shopping there. Didn't have the time to take breakfast.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the exquisite Hotel Slipway in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and I must say that it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. This waterfront gem exceeded all my expectations and left me with cherished memories that I will carry with me for a lifetime. Arrival and Check-in (β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…): From the moment I arrived at Hotel Slipway, I was greeted with warm smiles and a refreshing welcome drink. The check-in process was swift and hassle-free, thanks to the efficient and courteous staff. They provided me with a map of the property, highlighting all the amenities and services available during my stay. Accommodation (β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…): I stayed in one of their beautifully appointed sea-facing rooms, and I was left in awe of the breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and tastefully decorated. The comfortable bed and plush linens ensured a restful night's sleep, and the private balcony provided a serene spot to enjoy my morning coffee while watching the sunrise. Dining (β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…): Hotel Slipway boasts an array of dining options, each offering a unique culinary experience. I dined at Slipway Restaurant, where I indulged in a diverse range of dishes, from fresh seafood to delectable international cuisine. The quality of food was exceptional, and the service was impeccable. The oceanfront setting created a romantic ambiance for a special evening. Amenities (β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…): This hotel offers an impressive range of amenities. The pool area is an oasis of relaxation, complete with comfortable loungers and attentive staff serving refreshing drinks. The spa and wellness center provided a tranquil escape, and the fitness center was well-equipped for those who wish to stay active during their stay. The hotel also has a shopping center and an art gallery, making it a one-stop destination for leisure and entertainment. Location (β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…): Hotel Slipway's location is one of its biggest assets. Situated right on the waterfront, it offers stunning views of the Indian Ocean and easy access to the Slipway shopping complex, which houses various boutiques, restaurants, and cafes. The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle service to popular nearby attractions, making it convenient for exploring the city. Service (β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…): The staff at Hotel Slipway are undoubtedly one of its greatest strengths. They were consistently attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was exceptional. Whether it was arranging transportation, providing local recommendations, or fulfilling any special requests, they were always eager to assist. Overall Impression (β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…): My stay at Hotel Slipway was nothing short of remarkable. This boutique hotel combines luxurious accommodation with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's the perfect place for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a business trip. I left Hotel Slipway with a sense of gratitude for the incredible experience and a desire to return. I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone visiting Dar es Salaam, as it truly offers a slice of paradise on the Tanzanian coast.

The rooms are quite impressive and although service is good, the dinning room is open and wild birds keep coming in for the guests food. Some people like the hotel for that but it annoyed me. The location is fantastic

  • 1/5 Ruud van Z. 1 year ago on Google
Birds are eating from the unattended breakfast servings, cheese completely dried out, room doors that don’t lock well, toilets that keep flushing (while Dar has a water shortage, no clean room, small and outdated, 2 start max 3 star class for $150, a night ??? It has lost it charm, poor service no aspirin at the reception to many other surrounding hotels for half the price and double the service

You can get good see view, see sunset and enjoy good meals from different restaurants also have nice venue for conducting coference and it safe place

  • 5/5 Abdulaziz M. 10 months ago on Google
Honestly I can say its the only place in Dar es Salaam where you get to view the sunset in front of the ocean at its finest moment while sitting in a variety of opening benches. At this place, you can do boat cruising, yatch, swim (at your own risk), foods and drinks, african prints market and so much more you could ever ask for.

I had a great experience at Slipway. Initially I was supposed to spent only 1 night there on my way back to Italy, but then I had to stay there for 12 days due to a medical emergency of my travelling partner. Despite the difficult situation - every day back and forth to the hospital - I could experience all the main features of the place. Location is cool, my room facing the sea, the gym and the swimming pool well placed close to the Terrace Restaurant where you can have a swim and a have an aperitif at sunset which is great on Oyster Bar too. The Staff has been super nice and of help. - I want to mention Alberto who's the General Manager I met by chance during the breakfast. He's italian - cool by definition - and I had very nice chats with him. He's long time resident in Tanzania and if u need any info he's the right one. He is also the reason why at slipway you can have 2 things of exceptional quality I never expected to find in Dar Es Salam: coffee and pizza. Pizza is cooked in the wood oven and the quality of dough is perfect and moreover the baking just the way it has to be. The coffee - espresso of course, what else ? - which Alberto offered me many is likewise perfect. Old italian coffee machine, super cool. I want to mention Shirley too, the receptionist on the day shift. We had some issues at the beginning but then she's been incredible helping me to solve out a lot of problems, exceeding my expectations. Staff is the key point of Slipway. If u came across Bongo ( dar es salaam for the locals) book there.I got to know you can do a lot of activities - there is a Padi center for extense - I could not appreciate. Lat but not least tou alway feel safe, you can walk in the night without any concern. I got to know you can do a lot of activities - there is a Padi center for extense - I could not appreciate.

I had an amazing stay at the Hotel Slipway. Amazing staff. Very friendly, always helpful and very good and quick services (laundry, airport transfer, day rates for rooms). The rooms were clean, spacious and with a great bathroom. I can highly recommend this Hotel.

Comfortable hotel, great area surrounding to be able to get dinner, walk around and just hang out. Proximity to a small grocery store, pharmacy and multiple restaurants is always a selling point for me to stay here. Rooms are comfortable, good air con, and bathrooms are reasonable size. I would call this a "florida" style hotel, as it appears all rooms have a balcony overlooking something, mine had a great view of the bay. Morning breakfast had a good selection, eggs to order and excellent coffee. Beds were comfortable, tea kettles and safe were all present. Would definitely stay again. And look up Freddie if he is still around, he's a great resource and first friendly face you'll see as he helps with your bags.

Good location with lovely sea view. Because the hotel has many facilities such as various markets, shops, restaurants, and bars, those who stay here don’t need to go out of the hotel. Good quality breakfast is served.

I stayed at slipway for a week with my group from Virginia and it was an amazing experience! From the friendly staff (thank you Venant!) that helped us check in late at night to the breakfast crew and the folks at the restaurant :-) The shopping center right on site made it easy to stay at slipway and enjoy the view. I will certainly come back just for the service and the staff. Asante sana!

The Hotel Slipway offers a wonderful view of the ocean and has the best sunset when you visit in Dar es salaam Tanzania. There are nearby restaurancts that you can walk through. Theres Thai KHANI FOR GREAT SUSHI AND THAI FOOD with an amazing view of the clkear, crystal view ocean. a nearby restaurants called Waterfron has a nice cottages wherein you are stepping on the sand while enjoying the ocean view. They really have an amaxing sunset here, good music and drinks. Please enjoy and savour their fresh seafoods, its a must eat. If youre tired, theres a spa around, and lots of souvenir shop for tanzanite gems or some local products made in the country at Karibu Tanzania Shop. hotel service is very bad. I asked for a Muslim shower many times, but they did not help because they did not respect Islam and Muslims. internet doesn't work at all. When I asked for it to be fixed, they replied disrespectfully that they were working at the reception. My visit to Tanzania for business went very badly because of the Slipway hotel. I will never stay again

Location is fantastic, close to lots of shops and a number of restaurants. The rooms are pretty old, but not bad all things considered. The hotel service was good, however service was quite poor when we ate at their affiliated restaurant. There was a conference there, which we found out only after waiting an hour for our food.

Unless staying in Dar es Salaam, the Slipway Hotel and Peninsula may be overlooked. Most tourists and travelers might go to the most popular travel destinations of Arusha or Zanzibar. However, if in Dar es Salaam for a few days or longer term, the Slipway provides a nice respite to relax, do some shopping, or have a relaxing & casual meal on the waterfront. Don’t miss catching some truly extraordinary and stunning sunsets!

What a view! The hotel is located right on the Indian Ocean. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms were nice and very clean. The pool was clean and the grounds were well kept. Went here to catch a boat to Bongoyo Island. It is right by the ocean. There's a bar and restaurant and also many other businesses like curio shops. They have showers on the first floor where one can shower to take off the ocean water and sand.

The rooms do not have the basic necessities such as a pair of slippers, lotion, tooth brush. The breakfast was basic, little variety. The seat in my room was poor quality and did not allow me to work from the room.

Nice hotel in a safe neighborhood In Oyster Bay, has a lovely view of the ocean and good food. Their is a boat repair shop next door that was a little noisy during the day but other than that it’s a fantastic hotel with loads of shops and restaurants you can go enjoy in the evening.
