I love this place since my childhood. The only dissapointment was seeing too many plastic trash and plastic bags floating at the sea side (beach area) if they could clean up the trash stuck on the sand and keep the sea side clean would even look better. I would even advice them if they added trash bins near their beach side.

In Dar-es-Salaam if you want a good beach for hang out then White Sand Beach is a good choice for you. It's just maximum 1 hour drive from main town around 16 Km. If you are not staying in White Sand Beach Resort then you have to pay entry fees which is 20K Tanzanian Shillings which is approx 9 USD PER PERSON. You can enjoy the swimming pool as well which is near to Beach. Also they have restaurant which they can serve the order near to Beach wherever you are sitting. Their will be some good live music. They have Bar for Cocktails and Hard Drinks. You can spend your entire one day and you will enjoy it.

A very family orientated hotel, lots of families enjoying the pools, there were still ample beach chairs away from the hustle and bustle as its such a large resort. Food is good and the service staff are attentive. It's impossible for the hotel to do much to stop plastic backs in the sea and there are shed loads but through the day they have a team of people cleaning the beach of seaweed etc. The only area that needs a make over is the small area between the pier and the southern perimeter fence.

The ocean view is beautiful. Unfortunately, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Many of the staff were rude and seemed really bothered by any sort of guest interactions. A few times they would show clear preference to serve foreign looking guests. The bathroom in the room was poorly maintained. There was hair all over the bathroom floor when I first checked in and toilet seat was stained. The hotel looks like it might have once been a really amazing place to stay but there are clear signs of 'hard times'. That aside, kindness and politeness from people (staff and others) is not too much to ask for, is it?

Lovely place to get away for the weekend. Took the family over for a night. Great food. Great ambience. The ocean tends to abit more muddy (not polluted!) in this part of the town guess has to do with the shallow ocean slope. All in all - will definitely go back.

Decent place. But some of the staff members such as the morning lady at breakfast buffet or the evening hi tea manager are extremely rude, which will make you wonder why you opted for this resort. A few improvements can do wonders to this place.

Most horrible service received at this hotel. We arrive on 25th December 2023 and understood that because the hotel was busy, we may not get the best service, however on the 26th, 27th and 28th, it had less than half of the occupancy. The front desk: The lady that checked us in could not even welcome us with a smile! We checked in, in the evening at 4pm, for 3 rooms, yet 1 room was not even ready! As per check in terms and conditions, check in is at 12 (noon) so how can a room not be ready by 4pm. We had to take our own bags from the car to the check in area as there was no one to assist us and when we got to our rooms the person who opened the rooms for us requested for a tip??? Yet could not help us with all our luggage? The Restaurant: We fortunately only stayed on Bed and Breakfast Basis! The waiters did not want to serve us tea/coffee, there were never any sugar packets on the table, no glasses, no cups.. When we asked for cups, we were told to go and pick them up from another table! The restaurant manager could not smile or greet any of the guests and didn't seem to be bothered! When we requested for milk for our 1 year old child, the request was ignored and had to buy milk from the supermarket. The breakfast was also short on food, we would have to wait and complain for food to be refilled in their buffet lounge and they still wouldn't do it to a point you just eat what you see on the table. The rooms: Rooms were cleaned once a day in the morning.. we thought! Tissue paper that had fallen on the floor in the bathroom was never picked up, for the full 4 days we were there! If we move the sofa and table, it was never moved back to the original place. Tea / coffee sachets were never refilled. We constantly had to remind them to refill water bottles in our room every morning. We had to remind them to give us clean towels in the morning. We had to remind them to add in a body wash bottle in the morning as we only got 1 tiny bottle per day, between 3 people! The Management: By day 3, we had had enough of this services and decided to complain to Maua, the sales and marketing manager. We sat in her office for at least 20 minutes with our complaint. She wanted the restaurant manager Deepak to come in to listen to the complaints, but he brushed her off and said he was busy. She then told us she will speak to her director and get back to us with a response once they have discussed our issues! She did not get back to us till we texted her. The response we got was: ' we will offer you a 20% discount on dinner tonight'. If she had bothered to check on our booking, we were on B&B basis not FB and would not want to eat at their restaurant anyways as food was not great! There was no apology from Maua or the other managers on the same. When we responded back to say we will not be eating here and this is not an apology or a way to sort out the issue, we were ignored. We did inform Maua that we will definitely post a review on Trip Advisor as we had paid a lot of money to stay at this hotel. She didn't seem to care to be honest. The next morning when we were to check out at 6am there was nobody to carry our luggage from our room to the car, also to note the rooms are nowhere close to the reception or the parking lot. We had been told by their restaurant manager the day before that they would arrange packed breakfast since we had paid for it this as usual was not communicated with the chefs and no food was done for us. The manager came in his shorts running around to make some breakfast for us which only delayed our time to leave. In all over travelling whether it is budget hotels or 4/5stars I have to say WHITE SANDS HOTEL TANZANIA has to be the worst hotel we have been too. Never again would we step in that hotel. People please be aware that if you book don't have any expectations of getting any hotel service.

I highly recommend I really enjoyed my stay there. The administrators, the workers, the security, the cooks, the front desk agents are just amazing and PROFESSIONAL. The rooms are very clean and every day a team comes by to clean it. The swimming pool, the beach, the food in the restaurants are copious. If you go to Tanzania through D'ar Es Salaam, it is the ideal place and not expensive. Frankly TOP Congratulations and good luck to the managers who were able to establish this leadership within their teams. Karibuni sana Zanzibar, karibuni tena Tanzania. πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ΏπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ΏπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ώ

Beautiful location. BUT the service at the pool restaurant is very slow. We waited for 2 hours for 2 burgers and one pizza. I got my pizza first and my kids were waiting another 30 min to receive the info that the stove is not working. We cancelled the order and left the hotel. Worse experience ever. Very sad because the location is nice.

This hotel is a nice place for vacation or conferences, and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are reasonably clean, and there are mosquito nets and AC in the rooms as well as a television, fridge, and safe. The wifi is spotty and things are a bit worn looking, but I think they've seen hard times recently since the pandemic. The beach is not for swimming - there is trash in the water due to ocean currents bringing plastic waste ashore. You always see the staff working to clean up the beach, so it's clearly not their fault there's so much trash washing up. The restaurant food is okay, but not great. You will not receive what you order most of the time, and the food consistently takes 2-3 hours to prepare. Our saying was, "Order what you want, but youll get whatever they decide to give you." The prices for food are high and the value is not good. The extensive breakfast bar is the best part of this resort, included in your stay. Careful not to leave your plate unattended, as the crows or monkeys will take things as soon as you walk away. By U.S. standards, this place is 3 stars. But traveling in tanzania, its clear there is a different standard and this place stands out in the area. So 4 stars in that context.

Nice hotel and resort right on the water in Dar es Salaam. Rooms are quite large and comfortable beds. The conference facilities are good and the staff is friendly. Only one restaurant on site with a good menu but not huge assortment of options. Food was good though. Two pools are nice and bar service was great at the pools. Beach was quite dirty and the water looks nice but we were advised not to swim in the sea which was a little worrisome. Lots of mosquitoes at night A couple other resorts nearby but otherwise quiet street which is nice, however also a drive to get to other restaurants or sights around Dar.

I went here for a relaxing time by the beach, and indeed it was! If you aren't a guest at the hotel you will have to pay 20k tshs to access the swimmingpool, rent a sunbed, and a towel. A decent price, according to me. The food was good and the staff friendly. Be aware of the water tides if you plan to swim in the ocean tho πŸŒŠβ›±οΈ

A great resort setting-wise; but the beach is muddy and full of trash. If you are looking for a place to get wet and have a sea splash, this is not for you. Check out the other local beaches.

Nice place by the sea. Actual white sand at the beach although some more cleanliness like removing of sea weed at the shore is needed. The cafeteria has very affordable rates. General cleanliness was O.K. Good place to spend at day with just 10,000 Tanzanian Shillings ( almost 300 Indian Rs. ) as full day entry fee.

The place is very nice, it's a shame that it's so full of crows, they're very annoying and don't let you enjoy eating outside. Also, there was people at the pool swimming with their clothes on, which is not very hygienic. The beach is very dirty, when you walk deeper in the ocean you find lots of plastic bags and it's very unpleasant.

nice resort with private beach, but part of beach is polluted with tons of garbage, on other parts of the beach hotel staff is trying their best carting away trash with wheelbarrows; our room was clean and quiet with nice view on the ocean; waited for our food order in the pool bar (with very loud annoying music) for over 2 hours until we lost patience and decided to go to the restaurant to try our luck to get some lunch, that's when the problems started, iteratively a handfull of service staff showed up, noone seemed caring or competent enough to solve our problem of getting something to eat, eventually they served the food we ordered 3 hours ago; at the evening they knocked at our room door and wanted the check (with wrong items on it signed), we signed because it was roughly the right amount and we wanted this bad experience to finally end; next morning at breakfast they came again with another additional check apparently with one item they had forgotten to put on the check; at checkout the trouble continued with arguing over the wrong checks; overall, in a premium (and premium priced) resort, one would expect much better handling of problems, it is no problem if something goes wrong, but it was terribly handled.

Dirty rooms, with poor service. Would not recommend this hotel. When we asked to switch rooms, having discovered how filthy our room was, the night team laughed at us. Toilet was stained with faeces. Shower was not clean and did not give hot water. Bedding was stained with blood, which we only discovered before we wanted to go to sleep at about midnight; when we asked the maid to change the bedding, she came 1hr later with another set of dirty bedding, and laughed at us. Mosquito nets had holes in it.

The worst resort ever. The choice of food is very bad and all the dishes are tasteless. And the water that they serve tests as a ginger. I get very stressed every time I visit resort. They don't clean properly, especially kids swimming pool and jumping castle. There are also a lot of construction vehicles, they are making a lot of noise, so I feel like I'm at construction site. The worst thing is that they cut the grass during the day while all the visitors are there. I spoke to manager a few times but nothing has changed

24 hours at White Sands Where do I even start……….. Ok let’s start with the 4 star rating and their positive reviews. When booking hotels online, we all depend on up to date customer reviews for a heads-up on the level of service that can be expected. I can only assume that White Sands have many fake reviews. The room was dated with shabby curtains and upholstery. It could not possibly be graded as 4 stars, even if the room had a well overdue makeover, it would not make the grade. When we went to have dinner, we found a very limited choice, more so when what we ordered was not available. What I was presented with - mutton was so tough it was barely edible and distracted from the nice flavour of the sauce. The table cloths were all stained, and the staff were not at all attentive. I would like to be fair to the staff, and make it clear that a lack of good management and leadership that is the issue. It seems there is no team spirit that bonds them with the goal of looking after their guests and providing an experience that makes them feel special. Back to the room; It is clear that there is a lack of maintenance, with the air-con only working on the highest fan setting and so loud it was impossible to sleep. Breakfast. After the worst nights sleep I have had in years, I was not holding up much hope -This was the best position to take. The breakfast was awful, sausage as tough as the previous nights mutton, bacon I cannot even describe, the scrambled egg was the only nice thing on the plate. All to the back drop of the JCB digger churning the sand. We had booked for seven nights, but after the first night and breakfast it was time to go! We checked out a few alternatives near by, and settled on the Ramada. We walked there first to check it out as it is only 15 minutes to walk. On inspection it was a simple decision, we booked it immediately, went straight back to white sands and packed our bags. We booked an Uber and went to reception. Not wanting to have an awkward interaction we hoped to just check out and politely say that it was not what we expected. The shocking thing is that we were not asked if there was anything wrong, or anything they could do to make things better for us, just thank you and good bye. We took our bags out ourselves with no assistance. We paid for a 7 night stay in advance, on Agodo, which was non refundable. So one night cost us around Β£750. We had arrived at White Sands having previously spent 3 nights at the Four Point Sheraton in town, a superb 4 star Hotel with excellent standards. We escaped White sands to the Ramada, again, an excellent 4 star hotel with everything you would expect, and service to make you feel special. Here’s the thing, how is it that White Sands can have 4 stars, we know exactly what that should mean, we are lying down right now on 4 star beds, having just had four star lunch with four star service. And just in case the owners or management want to reply, don’t bother, just come down to the Ramada and see what 4 stars look like. Oh and if you have any shame maybe return our money which was obtained through false advertising. To anyone thinking of booking White Sands, don’t! Ramada is advertised in the same price range and worth every penny. We chose to lose over Β£700 rather than spend another night at White Sands, don’t make the same mistake!

Oosh, I had lovely and enjoyable stay at White Sands Resort. If you think of a place to go during this great festival season just make your decision now. You have swimming pools, Indian Ocean View, Jimm, Sauna, Conference rooms, multiple sites for individual meeting/sitting, full AC, automatic generator which connect within a minute when power goes off and its high secured with multiple smart guards plus CCTV Cameras

The rooms were so amazing with 24/7 AC on to avert the hot winds from the Ocean. The services were extra ordinary wonderful ranging from breakfast, break Tea, Evening and Dinner. I remember very vividly how Grace the accountant at the Meals side showed respect to everyone with a good service. The location is ideal for honeymoon couples family, corporate companies for staff self-care and Tourists to relax since it's at the Coast. Management keep it up.

We would a party of 18 and we just had dinner on the beach front. It was amazing. Whatever we asked for the waitress brought it. We had pre-ordered so a lot of our items were ready. It was a wonderful time… they also sing a birthday song and brought cake that we had ordered from outside. The stuff was exceptional.

  • 2/5 Danielle N. 1 year ago on Google
Service was good and views were exceptional but the rooms are extremely disappointing with a tiny bathroom that has little to no amenities not even bathroom slippers πŸ₯΄ The phone also wasn’t working and there was nothing to indicate the available numbers to dial for assistance. Also, and most importantly be very weary when keeping your personal belongings in the room as our safe was broken into and money was stolen from it. Please do better white sands. Truly one of my worst hotel stay experiences ever.

We made a reservation at the restaurant/ bar area for a get together of friends and after talking with Mr.Deepak, we were extremely happy with the service. From the food to the service that was prompt to the delicious carrot cake we had. We had a good time and will be visiting again for sure. One thing though i hope the can improve is get chalk for the pool table in upepo bar area and the pool table cloth and pool sticks could use some repair because they have grown too old and make playing difficult. An otherwise brilliant experience. Highly recommend.

Brilliant views, lovely beach but sea a bit cluttered with rubbish. Buffet breakfast plenty of choice, lovely gardens, lunch is good, dinner lacks variety. You will eat your breakfast and lunch with the Craws, also swim with them in the pool. They can get a bit overwhelming. I enjoyed my stay there, early morning walk watch the sun rise 😎

Beauty is what was seen with my eyes,I loved the place..It was a night dinner but still,i had the best experience. Went a second day,sat on the restaurant near the pool under the gym,the two waiters were very nice and had a smile on all times, the rest were male having arguments and being moody. Rather than that,i had a wonderful moment.

Great place, friendly service, highly recommend. Rooms are good, nice gym, pools and clean beach with lounging facilities. Food is awesome, both buffet and a la carte. Will say, the a la carte takes awhile to get to the table after you order, and room service is very slow.
