I
have
been
coming
to
the
YMCA
as
an
adult
for
the
past
15
years.
I
grew
up
out
west
and
played
YMCA
basketball
several
years
as
a
kid.
Norton's
facilities
are
nice,
my
review
focuses
on
kids
sports
leagues.
In
the
summer
of
2022
my
son
played
in
an
indoor
soccer
league
at
Buckner
YMCA.
Some
games
they
kept
score,
others
they
didn't.
He
is
competitive
and
the
inconsistencies
bothered
him.
When
I
asked
why,
I
was
told
that
it
was
not
a
competitive
league.
Meanwhile
the
kids
on
the
field
were
treating
it
like
the
world
cup,
it
mattered
to
them.
Next
was
fall
outdoor
soccer.
Played
our
first
game
missing
jerseys.
End
of
season
last
game
presented
team
with
small
trophies
for
players.
Small
trophies
for
players,
except
THEY
DIDN'T
BRING
ENOUGH.
Let
half
of
our
team
leave
with
nothing
while
everyone
else
got
a
little
trophy.
It's
fine,
we
could
go
pick
them
up
at
the
Y
at
a
later
date,
once
again,
completely
oblivious,
shouldn't
have
given
out
anything
if
only
half
the
team
was
getting
one.
Also
if
you're
a
participation
trophy
hater
our
team
was
undefeated.
So
now
winter
basketball.
I
was
head
coach
on
one
team,
assistant
on
another.
Neither
team
received
coaches
shirts.
One
team
went
to
playoffs,
made
it
to
the
finals.
Other
team
put
in
their
best
5
players
and
the
other
5
kids
on
their
bench
played
maybe
a
combined
10
minutes
in
the
entire
game,
one
kid
41
seconds.
Our
team
followed
rules,
put
us
at
a
big
disadvantage.
Pointed
this
out
during
the
game
to
the
referees,
not
their
business
to
enforce
playing
time
requirements.
Got
it.
Once
again
this
mattered
to
our
team,
left
again
super
disappointed.
Everyone
was
prepared
to
win
or
lose,
but
not
be
cheated.
I
recommend
avoiding
YMCA
sports
at
all
costs.
This
is
not
the
way
to
teach
young
kids
about
sports.
