Some of the worst service I've ever experienced, it was like the girls serving didn't give a monkeys at all. We asked for drinks that didn't come until we prompted again 15 mins later even though they were sat on the bar waiting, Needed a steak knife because the ones on the table were almost blunt and wouldn't cut the meat (waited nearly 10 mins for this, so main was almost cold), Asked for a dessert menu early on to choose between a starter and a pudding, this never came, When we were trying to pay the bill we needed the card machine, waited another 10 mins for no one to come until a waitress that had just started noticed we were waiting and offered to get the machine for us, and did so within about 20 seconds, so no idea what the other one was doing. (Shout out to sophie for noticing otherwise we'd probably still be there now waiting to pay). It wasn't even busy either... In fact, quite empty. Food was ok, but nowhere near worth the prices they charge. Looks like a pub trying to be an à la carte restaurant with small portions when they're nowhere near the same league. On top of that, 4 pound 20 for soft drinks is absolute extortion and a joke of a rip off. Won't be back and would rather go to McDonald's in the future.

Even better than last time we stayed. We had a lovely room. The menu is now good for vegetarians too and I had a delicious nut roast. We all enjoyed our meals. This is a dogs-very-welcome place!

Absolutely superb meal! The service was fantastic, the food was excellent. A really lovely experience.

Very pleasant place, good staff. Menu was extensive, Food lacking a little in quantity for the price. Food of good quality, except for the belly pork which was a little stringy and could have had a little more flavour. A little more on the plate would have gained 5 stars, having said that we had a very pleasant evening and we will be back.

We didn't stay but the food was excellent, to the point where we were all very happy with our own choices but there was still huge food envy. Perfect for a nicer Sunday lunch. The staff were great as well.

I've been meaning to come here for many years and last week the planets finally aligned. Amazingly luxurious building, the like of which I have rarely seen before. Intricate wooden panelling, fixtures and plants which created for me a genuine wow! I chose the gammon main which looked a little bit mean on the great big plate but it was an illusion and in fact I struggled to eat everything and I left very satisfied. Full marks and we'll be back so, please, keep up the good work at TBP!

Brilliant pub. Stopped over one night for business and enjoyed an evening meal, comfortable room and lovely breakfast. They even had a dog menu and have the other half wanting to come up there next. Would definitely return to. Only downside was the toilet was low to the ground in room 6, unusual, but hey. Also had plenty of parking and was easy to access with good WiFi.

Beautiful pub! The food was incredible. I went with a couple of friends and can't recommend it highly enough. I had te croquettes for starter and the lamb for main. One of my friends had the pate to start and it looked really delicious too.

Came here for a meal. Lovely location and venue, really friendly staff and fast service but food very underwhelming. One roast potato was burnt to the point of being barely edible and the gravy was thin and watery. Disappointing as the food has always been a good standard before

We are a group of 8 and always have a meal here on new year's day. The food was excellent 👌 the steak pie 🥧 😋 and the lamb shank were excellent 😋. Can't say we've ever had a bad meal here. Xx 👍

I booked 6 rooms for myself and my bridal party for two nights. The superior room is well worth the extra money it was massive! The normal doubles were very nice still though. The meal on the first night was delicious and the service was excellent. Kayleigh a waitress (and im sure several other staff)very kindly came to work early so we could have breakfast early so we could get to our wedding venue in good time. Breakfast was brilliant and Kayleigh was hilarious. Sadly the night of my wedding my sisters room key card did not work and as the hotel is not staffed late she ended up sleeping with her boyfriend in my parents room. No space for all so my dad ended up sleeping on the floor with her boyfriend. They tried many times to ring the on calk number bur nobody picked up. Would have been a 5 star review if not for this. They refunded me both the rooms for that night and were sincerely sorry for this. Every other aspect was brilliant.

Had two amazing days here a great experience where I've cooked my own steak on a stone ( this is a choice in the menu), friendly staff. The room was very nice spotless. Thank you very much to all of you hope I'll see you soon.

We absolutely loved the Bears Paw! The atmosphere was wonderful and relaxing. The food was delicious and we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there on different days, with our family. Loved the drink made for me with local Gin. The room was a dream. Beautiful, clean and gorgeous view. So much space in our room. The staff were amazing. So friendly and super helpful. A special thanks to Kayleigh (?sp). The location was perfect for touring around the area, especially visiting our family nearby. It is a very beautiful countryside. Going to miss the Bears Paw, hope to come back one day. FROM: Scott and Amanda, BC 🇨🇦

Absolute gem of a place, gorgeous rooms, lovely building and the staff are fantastic. Stayed one night (it will be longer next time) did the bed, breakfast and evening meal option. Fabulous food and drinks at very reasonable price. Loved every minute!

Beautiful building and friendly staff. My little pooch was immediately given a bowl of water and some treats. Great food for humans too 😋 Good country walks directly from the pub car park - there are leaflets in the pub showing some walks. What better than a stroll in the countryside followed by a hearty meal and a good pint.

We had a lovely stay at The Bear's Paw. So incredibly dog friendly, the staff were wonderful and couldn't have done more for us. The car park around the back is easy and convenient, the food in their restaurant is delicious with a great range of drinks and the breakfast was cooked to order and the selection was impressive. Only two minor points for us - the glass bottles of water in our room were already open (seal broken and half empty) so not replaced from the previous guests which was a shame but I imagine just a little mistake from the lovely friendly housekeeping staff and we think the rooms could benefit from a fan during summer as the room did get stuffy. But they are two points if we were to be picky! All in all, it's a beautiful little gem ran by amazing friendly staff that really do make this place extra special. Thank you all! We will be returning to The Bear's Paw in the future.

Nice boutique hotel and restaurant in rural setting but reachable from Sandbach and M6. Nice bedrooms, upmarket pub food and decent bar. Check in/out could be better.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Food, excellent with a really good choice. Friendly, professional staff. Not rushed between courses. Spotlessly clean. Really enjoyed my visit. Handmade chocolate with hot beverages to die for. Thank you.

Birthday lunch out, nice pub in a lovely setting. Food tasty but not much of it, two mouthfuls and my meal had gone. If you want value for money then here is not for you.

Arrrrhhh, I forgot to take pictures of the food, because it was that inviting I just had to eat it, on the plus side it just means that I will have to go back again! Great pub, clean super atmosphere good selection of beers wine and spirits, lovely menu big portions and smaller portions should you require one. The food is fantastic, staff are super, kind helpful and polite, keep up the good work all see you soon 👏🏼👏🏼

Never again! Sunday 16/4/23 table booked for 7pm so was very quiet, yet the service was very poor and mains were absolutely dreadful. Two roasts with very over cooked beef and awful vegetables that were barely warm. Caesar Salads that should have been amazing as they are so simple. Sadly not, they looked and tasted like they were made from the scraps at the bottom of the fridge drawer. On a positive note the starters and desserts were excellent. Normally we overlook the small things but last night was the last time any of us will go again. Also why are the toilets ALWAYS so disgusting? It’s like a night club at 2am in the morning. Stepping over tissues and walking through piss is not my idea of fun.

What a beautiful pub, we were greeted by a very well mannered and very pleasant Assistant Manager Ollie...we stayed in Room 5 which was AMAZING...we got there early so decided to have lunch and booked in for evening meal ..the food was beautiful and cooked to perfection our server was Ysabel who was very polite and pleasant, she reminded us of a young Drew Barrymore. Definitely recommend The Bears Paw oh and forgot to mention the amazing entrance from off the main carpark ....LOVELY Denise & Paul Jones

Have eaten at the Bears Paw on numerous occasions, and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. However, my most recent visit left me feeling very underwhelmed. I don't expect an amazing steak for £30, but it was just meat and chips, and not at all special. Used to feel like you were going out-out to the Bears Paw, it just felt 'out' this time. On this visit I just didn't feel like I came away with a good return on what was an expensive evening out. Service on the whole was friendly, but the gaps between courses and drinks were on the longer side despite the place not being hugely busy. Not a fan of adding an 'optional' tip to the bill - this just makes the experience a little uncomfortable as puts a level of expectation in the mix vs. a simple reward for excellent service (which would be more).

Really nice rooms. Lovely but modernised old building. Good amenities in the room. Good breakfast. Easy parking. Hash browns could have been browner! Thats it! Excellent place.

An amazing place and will definitely go back. Wonderful atmosphere, rooms are lovely and well equipped. Staff are simply amazing and can't do enough for you. The menu has so much choice and the food tastes incredible. I definitely recommend The Bears Paw and looking forward to going again.

Myself, my partner and our two dogs stayed at the Bears Paw Inn a few weeks ago. We wanted a country weekend away somewhere peaceful and what a find this was! From start to finish, everything about this stay was perfect. The service that we received on our stay really set this place apart from the rest. The attention to detail the staff take to ensure you have a great stay really is second to none, nothing was too much trouble and I can honestly say this is one of the best places we have stayed due to this. The food was also phenomenal, every meal was cooked to perfection and some of the best food we have ever had when staying away. Huge thank you to each and every member of staff, it’s safe to say we will be returning here for many years to come.

Great food and service - had a couple lunches here previously, stayed overnight for the first time recently. Food is great although a little pricey it’s very much worth the money, breakfast is the same quality. Service very professional and friendly- the room however clean and deluxe is a little dated with some fixings loose and the bath having some clear repairs in the tub itself. - not sure if the hotel stay was worth the price we paid but if you can find a deal I would highly recommend.

Had a lovely family meal here. Food was really good and a good selection and choice on the menu! Good quality and service. Coincidentally we stayed here on our wedding night nearly 23 years ago so was nice to visit again.

Amazing service and really good food, i am so impressed! We all did literally cleaned our plates, because the food was really a 5 star kind, the fact i was really not into any food that day because it was one of the hottest days of the UK in history, kind of heat exhausted, then comes our meal and it was amazing-presentation and the quality, worth every penny! Will definitely go back again! I highly recommend

Omg, we stopped over on our journey from Manchester to Rhyl. The staff were all so polite and helpful, the young lad (Charlie) who served us was very friendly. The food was amazing and very good quality. We never expected to feel so comfy. Beer garden was lovely and the bar area was so comfortable. Well done, we will definitely be coming again.

1 night away on a voucher. Personally I prefer the Grosvenor Pulford. Room was nice, clean and comfortable ; we were in the eves of the building so the room was a little dark (room 8). Food was okay but nothing special - I had the burger and frozen chips and my partner has the fish and frozen chips - most of the chips ended up on the table when the server but the plate down - no apology or acknowledgement. The desert however was delicious- i had the choc/orange brownie.

Disappointing. earlier this week, a group of nine chose the restaurant because of articles on Google that claimed it was in the top ten in Cheshire. The food is expensive and should be a better standard than we had. One of he party had duck but it was so tough, returned one of the two portions of duck and told the waitress to tell the chef it was impossible to cut with the knives provided. There were some of the party who enjoyed their food but agreed the premium price did not reflect the average quality.

We came with our 9month old dog, this was the first time we've taken her away somewhere dog-friendly for the night. The team were very welcoming on arrival and provided us with a really well written, clear leaflet with some local walks on which we enjoyed before coming back to the pub. We then came back for lunch which was delicious and quickly served. The dog was very excited having not been exposed to many pub environments, but the staff were so lovely and she got lots of fuss! We were also given a little goodie bag with dog treats in (I think because we booked through petspyjamas) The room was very nice and had dog bowls and a cool bed for her. Unfortunately our plan to leave pup in the room for an hour whilst we ate dinnerwas not possible, as she started barking as soon as we tried to leave (she doesn't bark when we leave her at home!) However we were able to order room service instead, which is a full menu and it was all delicious and again fast to be delivered. The only negatives I could say were that our room was very warm (room 9) and the quilt very thick, maybe a fan or a thinner quilt option would have helped. We had the window open but the local pheasants gave us a nice 5am wake up call :D The bathroom door handle is broken so wouldn't hold shut, but these weren't bad enough to drop a star as everything else was great. Will definitely visit again!

I am very much an experienced traveller, and have stayed in a diverse range of accommodation all over the world. As a google reviewer l have always stated that the important thing for me is the atmosphere and the welcome 🙏 The Bears Paw was full of atmosphere, fabulous decor and beautiful rooms. RESTAURANT The breakfast and the evening meal is of excellent quality, with a good menu and the bar has a good range of drinks on offer. THE ROOMS Beautiful and clean. We had the deluxe room with amazing views over the Cheshire landscape. Spacious bathroom and shower. STAFF The staff were welcoming, attentive, respectful and patient. They help to deliver a high quality of service, not once did we ever feel we couldn't approach them. I had dropped my wallet under the bed which they found, within 24 hours it was back with me in London. The staff are hard working and are the people who help their customers to have a good experience of the Bears Paw. GENERAL Has parking, good WiFi, easy to get to other villages. If you have disabilities there are no lifts. But generally disabled access and toilets.

Service was quick and friendly, but 3 stars due to the chicken salad not coming with chicken (?!)... Took a good 10 minutes for another to come out meaning the others had to eat first as theirs was going cold. Also asked for tap water but was charged £4 for a bottle of water. They did knock it off when we said we ordered tap water (the table next to us got a jug of tap water when they asked) but found that a bit sneaky. Lovely inside the restaurant but unfortunately won't be rushing back due to the 2 incidents above.

Food was very good, really hot and nice choice on the menu. Asked for a child's meal to come out immediately and this was done without any issues. Look forward to going back again. Felt safe with their Covid precautions.

Fantastic hotel especially if travelling with a dog. This hotel is five stars on every level, the pride that the proprietors and staff take in this establishment really shines through. Wonderful location, service, rooms. Puts many of the "mega" hotels I have stayed in to shame. Well done guys! See you again soon!

Lovely stay for one night. Beautiful spacious bedroom set in a very nice, well furnished hotel . Our evening meal was good quality and well cooked. On a negative , we felt that the customer service from the younger members of staff marred the full experience, which would be expectected from such a high rated hotel.

The pub is set in the most picturesque village, and beautifully presented. We were greeted quickly and taken to our table. The Christmas menu was very reasonable and overall the food was excellent. My only complaint was that the gravy quantity was a bit stingy. I'd go back for sure and thoroughly enjoyed my evening

Amazing stay with friends for a night away. Beautiful pub with gorgeous rooms... Attention to detail was excellent. The food was amazing and the breakfast the next day did not disappoint. The staff were so helpful and could not do enough for us. A pleasure to stay there. either. Real 5 star!

An amazing over night stay at the bears paw. The atmosphere is great, cosy and comfortable. The staff were wonderful with our 2 children. On the day of check out they let us stay an extra half HR as our 2 yr old was having a nap at 11am. We will absolutely be staying here again as we have family in the area and this is without question the best place.

This is a brilliant hotel and restaurant pub etc etc. Staff friendly and very helpful, booked me a table on the off chance, and I appreciated that. Room was spacious, with a sofa and a chair, good sized TV and large bathroom. Very clean and well decorated. In fact the whole establishment is beautifully decorated. After spending time in hotels that are tired and shabby this was a refreshing change. I ate there twice, beautifully cooked gammon and a superb Red Thai Curry. The cheeseboard would put many supermarket's deli counters to shame. Likewise, the breakfasts are excellent. Cannot recommend this highly enough, tried to book it for the next few weeks but it was sold out

Lovely old pub/restaurant/hotel. Visited on a Sunday and was quite busy. Plenty of seating/tables but assume you have to book in advance. Food was well cooked/presented, and was delicious. Service was good. Reasonable priced.

My wife and me cycled to the Bears paw. We were meet by a member of staff outside as we got off our bikes, asked what we would like, she got us two coffees and asked if we wanted our bottles filled with water. She made us feel most welcome. The service and the staff were excellent 10/10. Will go again soon.

Nice food, garlic bread and chipolatas gorgeous. Burger okay, cheap ketchup though so made the burger really salty, a nicer quality ketchup would have made it. Service good, waitress really friendly

Fantastic evening spent for New Years Eve with family and friends. First time we have stayed away for New Year and will definitely be booking again for this year. Will also be booking for a weekend away with friends, a very relaxing environment with great food and drinks. Staff were very welcoming, constantly smiling and nothing was too much for them.
