Top notch hotel and restaurant in the heart of an amazing city! Beautiful lobby that’s super comfortable. The restaurant is very good and I’ve had several breakfast meets here. Parking garage is located just down the block and they offer valet parking.

Stayed here last night (1-21-23) and I just want to say- the gentleman who was working the front desk around 9:30pm who helped us check in was so accommodating to us, especially when I realized I forgot my wallet at home and had no form of ID on me after booking a room online last minute. Everyone was wonderful, the stay was very pleasant and it was a nice last minute getaway. 10/10 !!

I didn't stay here just worked an event here. At first when I arrived I was not impressed. It had been a few years since I've been to this location for an event. They did end up taking care of the things that were my initial concern. The only thing preventing me from giving them 5 stars is that the smell in the Ball room was musty and strange. I think they need to hire a company to come in for a good cleaning or do something to make the room not smell so musty or like dirty socks... The food was great, the staff was friendly and fun.

I am not going to disagree on the fact that this is a really nice hotel with luxurious feel and nice professional staff but I will be honest there is no way I would stay here again or recommend this place to anyone. I am coming back to our room (2nd floor) today 10/16/21 at 8:30 to put my 18 month to bed just to find the room shaking by a loud DJ party music beneath us. I call the desk multiple times and one of the staff comes and sees how bad the music is but nothing changes. Its 9:15 now and I am trying to find a room in other nearby hotels but everything is sold out so we are stuck here. The whole concept behind hotels is "travelers rest area", I am driving back interstate tomorrow but definitely won't be resting tonight. I don't care how nice this place is if they simply ignore basic hospitality requirements. What am I going to do with your nice smelling shower gel or marble floor in the bathroom if I can't get a restful night sleep? The staff mentioned a couple of times that they were fully booked and I am not blaming them but this is a lousy excuse from the management. If you're planning to host parties, make sure you don't have guests with families/kids staying in the room next to that ( not that I think it's okay to be in this situation if you don't have kids; it's beyond horrible anyways) but needless to say kids need to sleep earlier. I have been in this situation in apartment complexes with college students before but NEVER heard of this happening in a hotel. You could do better Townsend, you definitely could.

I went to the Jingle Ball here. It is such a fancy place, my soon and I were in awe the whole time! Everyone was courteous and professional. The food was great except the steak was too spicy for me but my son loved it. He was sad he was too full to finish it, lol. Btw, they don't do to go boxes. I guess that makes sense. It was beautifully decorated and well lit. The bathroom stall was 100 percent private, totally enclosed and the coolest thing is they they have cloth napkins to wipe your hands on after washing them. No paper towel waste! I hope I get a chance to go again some day.

Fantastic customer service — any time I asked for something in my room the response time was less than 5 minutes. Quiet cozy, well-appointed rooms and very accommodating for pets. The hotel, located in quaint downtown Birmingham, is next to a park which makes it convenient for dog walking. A great place to stay during the holidays. We loved it!

Melissa Mateling did an amazing job coordinating our ceremony and reception at the Townsend. She did it all, going above and beyond creating a magical evening we'll always remember. Cannot understate how blown away I was by Melissa and the other Townsend staff. I plan on having Melissa help me plan future events at the Townsend and highly recommend her to others as well.

Top notch service. Bed was very comfortable. More than enough towels and washclothes. Excellent bar in the room Loved the balcony with table and chairs. Only nitpick was lack of refrigerator. We brought leftover champagne from our dining and had no place to store. That aside, we will certainly be back.

-Worst experience ever-NEVER AGAIN upscale hotel with unqualified poor service and lazy front desk and night shift manager , check -in was awful and discreminated knowing i have disable elder with me . All what we needed a room close to the elevator with a window clean view . We were moved to room 214 with depressed little window causingclaustrophobic then to a 2nd room 320 with garbage collection view in an ally and music play at night then 3rd room 550 with piece of board under the bed look like 3rd world country 1 star hotel making my Mom walk from tower to another knowing that she has mobility difficulty and she is on walker , then we moved to 4th room after i asked for wheelchair ,-very dissatisfied - for almost an hour we were trying to settle in a room to spend our 1 night. Both and especially the manager need to be demoted and re-training if not fired . Your sorry, and apologies mean ZERO for us . You just lost our business , never again, and for sure never recommanded .

We spent two days Christmas shopping in the Birmingham/Troy area. The Townsend was a great place to recharge for day two. Nice linens, nice mattress, great bar and everything else you would expect from a good hotel. We had dinner across the street at the Italian restaurant which was awesome. The concierge arranged our reservation. Rusty was welcome and had a great time also….

I went to this place the other day and talk to Samantha who was at the desk. I just wanted to find out how much it would be for a room for the night and if there was any amenities. I was shocked to find out that I would be paying anywhere from $360, $400 all the way up to $1,300 for a room without one single amenity. I can save my money and do something more worthwhile with it but I'm definitely not going to come to this hotel anytime soon. I've gone to hotels and I pay what they're worth because they have extra things you can do like a pool or a mini-bar or they have room service. But unfortunately this hotel will not be one place I will frequent in the future or probably ever. On the plus side Samantha was very courteous and knowledgeable and helped me out. But $360 a night for a room with no amenities?! Yeah I'm not falling for it.

I left a shirt in my room and called back only a couple hours after I checked out and they claimed they could not find it. I called two times and spoke to two different people and neither were helpful. Also, there was a mysterious white powder left on one of the glasses in the bathroom. Not sure how often they clean those. I was definitely disappointed.

Wow! Beautiful place to visit. We stopped off for some "high tea " and other than a bit slow in service due to staffing issues, the food was absolutely great. We enjoyed every bit of it.

I always thought getting a great hotel room meant paying big bucks. That changed when I found HoteIDuIIy.cᴏm Now, I get rooms like this without emptying my wallet, and it feels awesome. There was an issue at my house and I stayed here for a month. It was a great location in downtown Birmingham, right next to the hotel there was a park. It was a great place to walk around with my dog. There were many great restaurants around as well, most of which were walking distance. The inside of the hotel was incredible likewise. The rooms were spacious and luxurious. I had to change rooms many times while I stayed there, and all of them were very nice and clean. The gym at the hotel was nice and had almost all the equipment you could need. The lobby was stunning and the restaurant (Rugby Grille) was very good. The service was nice and the staff treated us nicely. Would highly recommend!

A grand hotel in a beautiful, safe area. From the knowledgeable Reception Desk (Sierra/Cierra) to the Lead Bartender Luis who took outstanding care of our group, the grand rooms with their oh-so-soft towels, and terrific gourmet meals for over 100 (with great personable wait staff), my stay was memorable, and satisfying.

The hotel is upscale and full of luxurious. One down side is that it looks like your great grandmother decorated it. It definitely is out of date and can use a refresh. The rooms have some tech added such as door bells and a control panel to tell people if your room needs service or if you need privacy. I do like rain feature in the showers, and that the black out curtains can really make a room dark. Some improvements to make are the sound barrier between rooms. You can hear everything next door, especially if you're in a connecting room even if you don't use the connection.

I would give it 10 starts if possible. Outstanding staff and accommodations that are out of this world. Elegant atmosphere that I would say rivals the 4 seasons. Highly recommend this establishment.

The Townsend is a great hotel. Staff are excellent, lobby is inviting a classic luxury. I did not eat at the Rugby, but at least appearace wise it looks quite nice. The location is unbeatable. My only critique is for the price point and being Luxury, the room decor felt a bit dated compared to other similarly priced hotels I've stayed at. But this is minor, and wouldn't stop me from staying there again. Bathroom was much nicer and seemed more recently updated.

For being in a busy area and having events happening at the hotel - it was peaceful and we were well taken care of when the room we requested originally didn’t have a tub and were moved to one that did. Staff was friendly, understanding & accommodating. It was a lovely weekend getaway close to home.

Great location, beautiful hotel, service is good. However, the hotel building may not be insulated enough because I can hear the pedestrian talking and very loud car noises while I am in my third floor room during the day and night.
