Protection of the Theotokos Greek Catholic Church
Catholic church

Museum
👍👍 Very interesting history museum on Debrecen and Hungary. The library and building are fascinating but it is the history of Hungary, well captured in the exhibits on display, that make this a museum worth visiting.

Lajos Kossuth Monument
Sculpture
👍👍 Ede Margó and Szigfrid Pongrácz's art nouveau style sculpture group is today one of the most beautiful Kossuth sculptures in the country.
Its central figure is Lajos Kossuth.
On the left, Imre Szacsvay, the clerk of the parliament, next to him is the second president of the House of Grand Orders, ba...

Millennium Fountain
Tourist attraction
👍👍 Ceramic artist Antal Pázmándi - not competing with the prominent architectural and environmental objects of Kossuth square in Debrecen - lowered his fountain below the pedestrian level of the square. Only the phoenix bird, Debrecen's coat of arms, stands out from the ensemble. The image in the well:...

Kálvin téri ördögcérna, más néven lícium (Lycium barbarum)
Tourist attraction
👍👍 The lycium tree in Debrecen is a small tree standing next to the Great Reformed Church in Debrecen, in front of the building that once functioned as a bishop's palace, on the corner of Múzeum utca and Kálvin tér. It is a natural rarity in its growth. According to Debrecen tradition, priest Bálint, t...

😠 The place itself would be interesting... unfortunately, the phlegmatic staff does not enhance this experience. We came after registering in advance by e-mail (we did not receive a reply). There was no wifi for half of the 1-hour session ("Build a robot!"), which we could only pay in cash (debit card...

Triple Mountain lookout
Tourist attraction
👍👍 Hármashegy, the area located about 17 kilometers from the county seat of Hajdú-Bihar, is well known to Debrecen residents and nature walkers. It got its name from the sand dunes formed by the wind, which towered so high that people already called them mountains. Hármashegy, the highest point of the...

Múzeum park
Park
👍👍 A very cozy little park right in front of the Déri Museum. It's hard to imagine now, but the area of Debrecen's city museum used to have a herb garden, and the legendary Pap lake also sparkled there. Déri tér is now our only real sunken park - which, moreover, was almost paved over in 2002.
