It's certainly interesting, I had to do some research afterwards and was surprised to find the artist who made it is a mystery, nobody knows who transformed this Norfolk pine tree into what it is today. It appeared December 2013 when a large section of bark was removed from the tree and a door was found in its place. The door itself is a little under 2 metres tall with blue eyes peaking out of the door and a small door in the bottom left in which you can see a Gollum toy from the lord of the rings through its door window. There's also a metal sign on the door that inscribes, "this tree may now unfold a secret thus far untold. So shake about, wiggle thy bum he may then speak to the chosen one". Maybe it's a clue as to who made it, or maybe its just some fun magic for children's imagination.

Me and my kids love visiting the Gollum Door, this started as an illegal art instillation that turned into a public upheaval to have it kept as it was! A beautiful little characteristic of the already beautiful beach.

Underwhelming. If you’re staying nearby maybe go see it, there’s a children’s playground nearby, public toilets and car park too. Needs a better plaque imo.

Perfect to spark children imagination. I would use it to kick-star stories about wonderful hidden worlds for my children, but I have none, so here is the idea for someone who has. You are welcome.

A quirky and creative piece of artwork that's very easy to miss when walking by. It's located off the main path, with the Google geolocation being pretty helpful. Supposedly the artist remains a mystery, but it's a good point of interest especially for younger children.

Last night, after I read the inscription there were something that sounded like animal noises coming from out of it. It continued every now and again.

Can't believe the door isn't Memphis designed, it ruins the whole experience for me. If anybody ever finds out who made this then I will need to have a word with them. Not happy.
