The Blue Hills Reservation is a wonderful place to visit, hike and picnic! The trails are beautiful and just challenging enough to be a good work out. The diligent hiker is rewarded with stunning views from the stone lookout tower, and on a clear day Boston can easily be seen in the distance. This place is also home to Americas oldest continuously operating weather observatory, which is back to hosting small groups of visitors. Leashed animals are welcome, just remember to clean up after them. Over 5 years since my last visit, it was extremely nice to be hiking there again. While the visitor center is still closed because of the pandemic, the trails are yours for the hiking. I would recommend the Blue Hills for any level of hiker, as the sheer beauty of the place makes it worthwhile!

Moderate hike for a good work out. for the views not bad guess from the trails I took. Will try other trails. Was refreshing seeing city of Boston from the tower. Also ongoing construction at the weather observatory hence it was closed(guess I missed out or visited at the wrong time lol). Overall It was definitely a good work out.

So many trail options, it’s never crowded and very beautiful in the fall.

We took skyline trail east from houghton pond. It was a tougher climb. We went out and back a ways and really enjoyed it. The path does narrow at a few points. Would recommend sturdy shoes. Parking is very full and tricky to figure out where to park for which trail so make sure to look ahead of time.

Amazing landscapes and beautiful views that are all worth it after a long walk and trekking. Safe for kids and bringing your dogs for a walk. Being here just makes you feel alive again. Near to the city and is accessible via public transportation but a Lyft or Uber takes less than 20 mins. Burger place and Dunkin' nearby. Wheelchair accessible parking available. Also, a quick tip to follow the trails and tree numbers to not get lost in the woods. Or else, keep a map handy. This is the place to be if you need some break in your regular city life and routine.

Great place for humans and dogs alike. A lot of hiking trails with different levels of difficulties. There is also a lake with the beach where you can swim. The only problem is limited parking so come early.

Awesome trail system, especially given the proximity to Boston (you don't have to get far out of the city to get to trails). The system is quite large with so many different trail options including the Ponkapoag loop across 93. There are both very easy trails- flat, manicured gravel and very challenging- the skyline trail going over steep climbs and descents (20+% grade at points) with very rocky terrain. There aren't too many viewpoints, but there are some on the skyline trail. The best view is from Buck Hill as you can see the Boston skyline and the ocean.

This was a fun hiking area with a ton of different trails for beginners to advanced hikers. A lot of the trails are heavy with rock structures that you have to climb, so it's important to wear appropriate shoes. There are multiple free parking lots with a plethora of spots available for use. For some parts of the trails, we had to cross a main street, and even though there's a pedestrian crossing sign, barely anyone stopped.

This place is always amazing, no matter the season, but fall is especially beautiful. The colors and paths are transformed due to the changing season. The sunset during fall is awesome. Be careful with the less travelled paths during the fall season - these will be covered with leaves so it's not as easy to know where you are. The major trails are marked and provide enough places for quiet exploration. This is a place I enjoy visiting all year, even in the thick of winter. A park for all seasons.

TERRIFIC trails and views. Look forward to returning! Enjoyed the challenge of the well marked Skyline Trail. The view of Boston from the Observation Tower was great but loved the other views as well. Fall colors will likely be peak in another week or two. Recommend hiking shoes for this trail. There are rocky parts that absolutely require good traction and scrambling. Also walked the very easy 1.1 mile loop around Houghton's Pond. Fabulous fall day - people were sunbathing on the beach, picnicking at some of the many picnic spots, fishing, and generally enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Only thing for Houghton's pond is that one never truly escapes the sounds of nearby Interstate 93 - though it kind of becomes white noise. An added plus for me is having family in both Providence and Boston - this is a terrific location to meet halfway!

First time visiting this place for a hike and absolutely liked it. Because we got there earlier in the morning, the weather was nice and cool throughout the entire hike. We picked the Skyline Loop path (Blue), got lost few times but managed to complete it. 😅 This time of the year might not have been the best time since there were ice on the road and on the rocks that made it somewhat challenging. But overall, it was a great hiking and I look forward to coming back for more hiking in the near future.

Very beautiful, I did the skyline loop found on AllTrails. It was a really nice time, I hadn’t gone hiking for a few months so it was really refreshing. Would definitely recommend !

The Blue Hills Reservation is a fantastic location for sightseeing, hiking, and picnicking. The trails are lovely and just difficult enough to provide a good workout. The stone lookout tower offers breathtaking views to the devoted hiker, and on a clear day, Boston is clearly visible in the distance. America's oldest continuously operating weather observatory is also located here, and it is once again welcoming small groups of visitors. Pets on leashes are welcome, but please pick up after them. Any level of hiker would benefit from visiting the Blue Hills because of the area's natural beauty. Fantastic views could be seen from the Eliot Tower during the hike to the Great Blue Hill. Amazing scenery and breathtaking vistas make the long hikes and treks worthwhile. Simply being here makes you feel more alive. Public transportation is nearby and available, but a Lyft or Uber arrives in under 20 minutes. Nearby are a Burger King and a Dunkin'. A quick tip to avoid getting lost in the woods is to follow the trails and tree numbers. Keep a map close at hand if not. If you need a break from your typical city life and routine, come here.

Hiking the Skyline north and south trails are not for the faint of heart - some parts of them you’re legit rock climbing up or downhill. Took me 2 hours to do 5 miles but it’s all worth it for the panoramic views when you get up top. Some advice: 1. screenshot a pic of the hiking map bc they have #’d posts so you know where you are. 2. Blue paint marks on the off-trail trees will direct where you’re going 3. Use google maps on your phone so you know where you are! 4. Parking is ample and free but go earlier in the day since it gets darker sooner now. Park is closed sunset to sunrise.

Hidden gem by most people in mass. Lot of trails and some nice variety of hikes. Few good views and pretty awesome for 10 miles from the city?

It’s always just a nice experience hiking here. I’ll let the pictures and videos posted by everyone speak for themselves. I personally love it in the fall. Head over and you might spot some deer! (Two Deer in the first video)

The hike to the Great Blue Hill was great with amazing views from the Eliot Tower. I recommend visiting the Blue Hills Trailside Museum with small but well kept ZOO.

Beautiful and rocky trails with epic views that my hound and I loved. Too many people for our liking though and dogs must be on leash. It's definitely worth visiting, there are multiple trails that are marked clearly on All trails. We parked across the street from the police station and main trail.

This is a nice place to go to hike very close to the Boston area. It has many different trails of different levels. You can start easy hikes and move up as you progress. The Elliot tower is currently under renovation, but you can hike all the way to the tower and take a new trail or complete a loop back to the parking lot. The facilities were close at the ranger station and the porterjohn (portable toilet) was nasty. But the trails are kept really nice, and challenge your physical condition. Because the tower is closed, you can't see Boston from the top at this time.

Nice network of trails tucked in the urban area! Not a super impressive "summit" area, but some pretty cool views of the city and the surrounding area in a couple spots! Amidst the trees of course.. lol definitely pretty crowded the day we went, but to be expected being a nice 75⁰ day in Oct! 😎👌

Blue Hills is one of my favorite places to go hiking. The trails are simple and accessible and the views are amazing. There are plenty of trails to start at with plenty of parking as well. I highly recommend anyone to visit Blue Hills Reservation.
