Lovely place for a peaceful walk. Free entrance. Although the Arboretum is open 7am to 7pm in the summer the Hunnewell Visitor Center is NOT! The visitor's center is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday noon to 4 pm. So if you want to see the exhibits there go then.

2/4/2024 - We wandered in here for a walk and to explore. We didn’t not expect it to be the Witch Hazel blooming month. It was cool to see a tree that blooms in the winter. Per the park visitor Center there is a tree here that blooms every month. So a nice opportunity to come visit.

Best place in Boston! Period. If you enjoy the outdoors, the Arboretum is the perfect place to spend a few hours: safe, child, pet and bike friendly, beautiful and diverse landscape, and looking its best in every season. It’s a great place to come for a walk on a date, to come with the kids and let them explore the trees, or to come alone for a run. It is free, open from morning until dusk, and it welcomes everyone! You can’t picnic here, which is sad, but understandable as the park would not be as clean if picnics were allowed. A special place worth all the time people spend in it.

I visited the Arnold Arboretum parks to spend some afternoon time before late lunch. The weather was pretty warm but had constant breeze to cool off as I walked in the trail. Many of the trees had labels that provided explanation of their origins, so reading them while walking made it feel the time was passing extremely fast. Because of previous commitment, I had to cut short of the trip but the short period that I was there, I really enjoyed my stay. I will definitely make another effort to come back in the future when the weather is cooler.

Such a lovely arboretum. The trees are enormous. Be sure to stroll up to the top of Bussey Hill for a great 360° view. There are also a bunch of bird feeders set up there if you like birding. They have great walking tours with super intelligent guides too.

Another free thing to do in Boston! Such a large green space and open museum of plants. The grounds are open sunrise to sunset; the listed hours apply to the visitor center. Free tours of the grounds offered are very informative. The bonsais are incredible.

A very nice place a stroll not far from downtown Boston. They keep the grounds immaculate and it's nice that every tree and shrub is labeled as your pud expect in an institution dedicated to the scientific study of plants. They are events for kids on the weekends. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash. They discourage picnicking but there are some great benches and groves to sit and eat. They have a nice little bonsai garden but the hours it's open aren't posted.

Wonderful space to walk around and explore. Exotic trees always blooming in interesting ways through the spring, summer and fall. Parking can be difficult on the weekend, and really most days- best bet is along the J way. There’s a headquarters as you enter the main gate and they have a 3D map of the grounds, info, and typically a seasonal display. Great spot for birdwatching and to see warblers in the Spring. The grounds spread out a long way and you’ll cross streets at several points if you walk long enough. There’s a large hill with a good view of the Boston skyline. Free & open to the public

From April (warm years) to November or May to October (cold years) is one of the most beautiful parks in the Northeast. It’s very cool because every tree is tagged with details of its type and origin plus age. They have a Bonsai exhibit to die for and a vine terrace with every type of vine you can imagine. Great urban hiking and the rabbits, squirrels and birds will keep your doggies entertained while you get some sun on your guns. Did I mention they have every tree species on earth represented? I might be exaggerating but it’s not far from true if I am.

Great nature center, lots of different plants. Great bonsi trees, one is even older than the United States! Pet friendly, and bikes can go on any paved areas. Well kept and very nice.

A beautiful Park with a lot of different kinds of trees native to different continents. Great to visit if you want to stroll in peace and solitude through a nice Park.

Beautiful spot to bring your loved one. They have so many different trees and paths to walk by. Different sections with different ambients, it’s so nice. It’s a big place so prepare to walk a lot, but it’s worth exploring every bit of it.

Absolutely amazing and informative. I appreciate the QR code to access and go into more detail for understanding. It was neat to see wildlife-even turkeys. This weekend was extra special with wood turning exhibit. Thank you

Great place! So interesting during blooming season. Well displayed plant and tree names and very informative. Great place to get your steps in! Parking however is not great and can get crowded on nice warm weekends!

An amazingly beautiful network of paved and forest trail roads for walking or hiking. All kinds of terrain from lazy day strolling to challenging narrow stretches along rock faces. Beautiful views everywhere to connect our internet cluttered brains with the sense of freedom and spiritual renewal from the flowering wonders created by earth, sky and water. Come see the the best of humanity in the smiles and faces of joy by all who share this experience. Live It!

This was my first visit to this park. It is massive, well maintained, and very nicely laid out. Spent 2 hours there and still didn't see most of this treasure. Lilacs were magnificent (May 2022) wow, so gorgeous and fragrant. Hopefully will return someday. Traffic back home to central MA was terrible... of course that is just how things are...

Great place for a lazy day. Lots of different types of trees and plants from around the world. The bonsai garden is a must visit but there are several paths each worth seeing. The arboretum is divided by tree type so each path is a new experience.

Must visit place in Boston if you enjoy nature and walking. We went on mid of October, it was lovely and a plenty of trails, paths. Varieties of trees to explore and a beautiful bonsai garden. Definitely worth visiting!

Lovely place to walk around and see beautiful trees, especially in the Beech family. Lots of different oaks and even a bonzi collection! The visitor center is a great place for water and the ladies who work there are incredibly nice!!

I enjoyed walking, learning and taking pictures of the beautiful trees, and flowers available in the surrounding areas. Some of the trees have started changing colors in anticipation of Autumn.

It is a serene peaceful huge place with so many walking trails...I took the straight ones and hugged the maples...the hues of fall colours made the whole park mystic and meditative....a silent walk observing the gorgeous wealth of Nature was amazing !! Children were enjoying riding on cycles, I loved the rose garden and the purple squirrel flower. Their bonsai corner was beautiful too. In a word one can spend whole day over here with joy, bliss and peace of mind.🙌💖🙏

Nice park for a walk. Plants and tree well marked. Not too busy during the week. Must park on the street.

A route that can be added to weekend plans to capture the colors and listen to the sounds of nature in autumn. It is especially worth spending more time to get lost in the detailed information about each tree presented in q-r codes.

😎how many times have I been to this place? 1 💁🏻‍♀️would I revisit this place? Yes - especially during the cherry blossom season. It's absolutely beautiful!

It’s gorgeous, but the road noise is bad on the north end… if you are seeking peace and quiet, go somewhere else. Overall we loved our trip to see the lilacs in bloom… but! The sound from ambulance and police sirens was shockingly ever present. We stayed mostly to the north - trails very kid-friendly. My 8 year old loved it! Next trip we’ll explore the south, which I’m hoping will be quieter.
