I’ve been seeing Chelsea for for 3 years now and am so grateful to have such a kind and talented stylist so close to home! I feel safe enough in Chelsea’s hands to be an occasional test subject, like when she wanted to try new curly cutting techniques after a taking a class on curly hair. She is detailed and aims to make sure you’re both on the same page before the scissors come out. I left today with a cut and color I can’t stop peeking at when I pass a mirror…thanks Chelsea!

My daughter is 11 years old, is mixed race, and has curly hair. So, it's difficult to find someone to do her hair. Ginger Salon has free consultations, which ensured we are on the same page. My daughter loves Katelyn, not only because she does wonders with curly hair, but because she's personable and listens to my daughter's request.

I started seeing Chelsea during the pandemic after my regular salon closed. After several months of DIY toning the grey off my head, my color was a mess and I was ready to try something new. For the past two years Chelsea has been the master of my color and cut, which I love to change up by the season. She’s handled everything from “Alexis Rose” balayage, to warm mocha brunette (pictured below), to “I just want to go BLONDE” like a (literal) pro. SO glad I found Chelsea. Also, the Excelsior location is great - super convenient - and the salon offers all kinds of snacks and drinks. 10/10, recommend to a friend.

I have been going to Ginger Salon for roughly 4 years and I love it. Chelsea always makes sure that my hair looks excellent and always finds time for me. I would highly recommend Gingers and Chelsea to anyone who wants a haircut done right!

Chelsea did a wonderful job and I love my new cut! She listened while I explained my hair texture and what I wanted done. She also took her time, never felt like she was rushing. I have a hard time finding a stylist that understands my hair and how to cut it since the texture is fine. I will definitely be going back to her! The salon is very clean, located right in downtown, great location and had no trouble finding parking. They also use Davines products, which I discovered years ago and fell in love with! I didn’t feel pressured into buying a few products, I purchased them because I wanted to! 10/10 will recommend to others!

My experience at Ginger was amazing! The salon is clean, stylish, and had great energy. Grace touched up my balayage and brought my hair back to life! She also waxed my eyebrows for the first time, and the results had me wondering why I had never done it before. Incredibly happy I decided to try Ginger Salon, and I will definitely be back for my future hair needs.

I’m new to the Excelsior area and thought I’d try out a new salon by my house, given that my hairstylist was booked up and I didn’t have the time to drive out to Minneapolis in the next month. I saw mostly 5 star reviews, so I thought this salon would be a good choice! Unfortunately, I got a haircut that I could’ve gotten at Great Clips. I went in with what I thought was a simple request — a couple inches off, layers, face framing. What I got was very choppy, uneven layers. The stylist I used just cut straight across and didn’t blend in the layers. Maybe I should’ve been more clear that I wanted them blended and not blunt, but I’ve never had to explain this before when getting layers. She also didn’t style my hair after the cut, which made it hard for me to realize how terrible it looked until I got home and actually did my hair. I’m having this cut fixed elsewhere and will not be returning to Ginger Salon. I recommend anyone who is seeing a new stylist here, do a consult prior to getting your hair done.

Cindy Green is my stylist at Ginger Salon and she did a great job! She’s very skilled at both color and style. She asked all the right questions to give me exactly what I hoped for and provided tips on how I could best achieve the desired hairstyle myself at home. It was a fun experience and my hair looks, feels and smells amazing. I would recommend Cindy to anyone looking for a skilled stylist/colorist.

Cindy Green has been doing my hair for over 30 years, and she is by far my favorite hair stylist I’ve ever had. She always listens to what I want and offers helpful suggestions. Cut, color, and styling, she makes sure that you leave happy with the outcome, which is always beautiful! She has also done hair for weddings in my family, and each time the wedding party has looked like the best version of themselves. I can’t say enough good things about her work!

After seeing the same person for my hair for 17+ years, i was a little nervous to try something new. Honestly there was no need for the nerves! katlyn was so welcoming and friendly that I was immediately comfortable. She was knowledgeable with curly hair and was so encouraging with her suggestions. I went to see Bailee Pitt for a new, updated highlighting of my hair. She is extremely thorough in her explanations of what she is going to do and how it will look once it is finished. She listens to what I am looking for. She is extremely detail orientated and professional. I can tell that she loves her job. My hair always looks and feels fabulous every time I walk out of the salon.
