Was a last minute decision to visit as I found it on a local Google search the night before while on holiday. I took my 15 and 16 year old daughters and we all loved it. The village was wonderful and really quite surprising just from the sheer size of the huts. The villagers were extremely knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. They were happy to answer any questions visitors may have had. The only drawback was that we didn't have time to see everything. We watched and joined in with the weaponry demonstration given by a wonderfully captivating man, and watched another demonstration by an older very interesting gentleman on the use of fire and the methods used to create it. We did miss the bread making, crafting demo's and joining of the tribe though due to time restraints as our session was 10am-1pm. However the entry fee was very reasonable so if we are ever in the area again we would happily visit again to see what we missed. There was some cool stuff in the gift shop and the cafe food was great although it was a bit of a wait for food to arrive but they were very busy to be fair. Would absolutely recommend if you have a few hours to spare, go check it out.

Very interesting archaeological site brought to life. The guide knew all about the excavations and rebuilding and she was fascinating to listen to. I was able to access the site using their mobility scooter. Dog friendly too. Cafe also had outdoor seating. Suitable for all ages.

Imaginative, educational and entertaining. Brilliant value for money with a family ticket well under £20 and a fabulous cafe on site. We loved our visit and it is well worth booking a free tour, they happen twice across each day. Be prepared to leave with your head full of Iron Age tales and smelling of well seasoned wood smoke.

Our two kids (11 and 13) LOVED the Iron Age Village (and so did we). It's mostly outdoors, and we benefited from a sunny day, so if it's cold or wet, dress appropriately for the iron age. It really felt like a step back to a different age, with displays, activities, explanations, and interesting information. The staff were passionate, informed, interesting, talented, and engaged the children and adults at every step. The cost of tickets also felt very inexpensive for everything we were able to do there. Thank you Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, one of the highlights of our year, and our girls have been talking about going back again for the last month!

Loved it. The atmosphere, the opportunity to sit and absorb the sights and smells, as well as the interaction with the guides. Watching the swallows/House Martins nesting inside the many round houses was both funny and fascinating

Lovely little spot, something of a hidden gem. Didn't book in advance as the website was unclear (hence the taking off of a star) so was not able to get our full time there & missed the bit I went there to see 🤦‍♀️ However, the rest was amazing. The "tribe" were so knowledgeable &, more importantly, passionate. Plenty to keep the kids entertained & a lovely little café with very helpful & accomodating staff: also the tea is made with REAL milk not uht so massive bonus.

We had a fun, enjoyable time. It was interesting to walk around and look at the round houses, two of which had fires lit inside. I imagine on a stormy day it would have been even more atmospheric. We were offered the chance to try out slingshots, with dough as our projectile, something none of us had tried before. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I had my reservations about going, but as soon as I started looking around it was very much a worthwhile place to visit.

We visited Castell Henllys today with our young rescue dog while on holiday in the area. The staff are super friendly and helpful (and were brilliant with our lively over-friendly boy). The walks to and from the village are beautiful, the iron age village is really interesting and the sit in general is very well maintained. We stopped for a cuppa and cake in the cafe before we left, the prices are very very reasonable and the cakes are amazing! Very much a dog friendly venue and well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Really good attraction with passionate and knowledgeable staff. It's a really interactive place and would appeal very much to children and adults. I have volunteered on a local history project in my area with a focus on the same time period and I learned so much from my visit here. An absolute must for any history lover

What a hidden gem. Information transferred using many channels, from short messages engraved in stone and wood, to the knowledgeable hosts, setting the scene in period dress and providing detailed facts. Cafe had delicious treats with First class service. We visited at the weekend on a damp day.

Brilliant! The staff were all really friendly and happy to answer our questions, and the actual huts are so fun to look around. We were able to have a go using the slings as well as hear a short talk about some of the items which would've been inside, like the loom and swords. We also loved seeing the pigs and sheep, which were an unexpected bonus! It is a short walk from the main reception to the Fort itself which may be difficult for those with mobility issues. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys museums and history based attractions!

An awesome experience and educational journey back through time. They are welcoming and do a great job explaining how Iron Age humans lived and worked on this land.

This recreated iron age village is definitely worth a visit if you enjoy history. The location is beautiful and the work that has gone into accurately recreating these roundhouses is impressive. As adults fascinated by ancient history we genuinely wanted to learn and our visit was deeply enhanced by our fabulous guide Dan, a trained archaeologist, who just happened to be behind the desk when we arrived early one Sunday. Dan was a wealth of knowledge and discussion. He did an amazing job and is the reason we're giving 5 stars.

Wonderful place to spend a few hours. There was a gentlemen up at the iron age houses giving very informative talks. Clearly very passionate about history! Taught me loads of things I didn't know. There is a bare foot trial on the way up to the houses. And a little obstacle course right at the start. When walking up, keep an eye out for little stones with some facts on them! We didn't notice them at first, so we had to walk back up and down to find them. Amazing visit.

This was so informative and a great immersive experience built on the foundations of an iron age settlement. I was so interested in smith tools, the millstones and granaries

Absolutely brilliant, we really enjoyed it and will go back again next time we're in Wales. Lunch was good in the cafe and the best bit it is dog friendly. Shop is pretty good too.

Excellent food and interpretive center for Celtic life 2,000 years ago. A little light on the demonstrations today, but it is still very good.

The staff explaining everything were fantastic and so willing to answer all our questions. Our 9 year old loved it and so did we. There was an event for kids to make iron age style bread which was lovely too

It's okay. Wouldn't come back again though. Best thing about it was the barefoot woodland walk which we all enjoyed. Setting is lovely and it's great to see the village. But we were expecting the "iron age villager" to show us around or at least explain a little about the village but in honesty he was just rather weird, and seemed rather impressed with himself. Everyone took the opportunity to run away from his "talk" when the lady came looking for the people booked into her pottery class. A bit disappointed to be honest.

Lovely experience well worth a visit. Includes a very nice cafe, friendly and informative staff, and a beautifully reconstructed iron age village and hill fort. As we visited around Christmas, there we're no activities for children, but we still had a great day out.

What a place this is! The staff really made our day! Very knowledgable in bush craft and archeology and of course the Iron Age! Very interesting tour around the site, really captivating the audience young and old!

We drove there for an hour from our holiday location. We found it very worth while as the site is very well laid out and it felt authentic. the staff up at the settlement were excellent and we really enjoyed how they approached I think about 2-3 hours would be a good amount of time to spend on site. And would be a good morning or afternoon visit. We also had lunch there which was very nice. Well worth it

😐 Lovely, impressive horses, and friendly staff, especially front of house staff. But it also gave the impression of having not been very well maintained or reinvested in, for the last several years. Not sure if this is the circumstances of the owners or the cost of living, but it was very... 'homely'...
