Wow! What a place! We booked a table for 5pm and it was already pretty crowded when we arrived. The atmosphere is quite lively which can be a bit confronting and overwhelming if you have Autism or Sensory problems. The staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. The food is divine! We had a platter and it feeds 2-3 easily. The drinks are wonderful. Our favourite things were the corn dogs, the baby back ribs and the brisket. Would definitely recommend Hickorys Smokehouse! I would say that this is a special occasion restaurant rather than an everyday eat place, because the prices are a bit higher, but saying that, the quality of the food, the staff, the decor are all top quality so it's worth every penny. Can't wait to visit again!

Very helpful staff. Spent a lot of time with us advising what dishes contained allergens and what modifications could be made. They have a good gluten free menu. The food was amazing. We were even given samples of the food as my face must have looked far from convinced when they told us the brisket was delicious. And it was! And I don't like meat. Only down side was we found that the "magic dust" on the tato tots was quite garlicky which was a bit much for us.

Restaurant's atmosphere is lovely offering also a cinema room for the kids. We were immediately served with a bottle of water and a small popcorn serving which was very good. We ordered the smokehouse platter which in our opinion the brisket, sausage and chicken wings were the top notch of the whole platter. Its a shame the ribs fell short due to being dry.

Fantastic setting by the river, great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and delicious American food. Chicken dish was expertly cooked and the brisket was amazing. They recently brought back the Gumbo which I'm reliably informed was excellent. Pretty affordable too. One note, if you like onion rings the size of the rings Sonic the Hedgehog collects, you're in for a good time.

The cocktails were amazing and unique, plus when ordering at the bar the bartender made it a show to watch them being made! The food had good portions and the staff were so attentive. The food was also absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend a visit.

Great as always. We popped in for brunch.i have the American breakfast which was very filling but lovely. The little touches make the experience, bottle of cold tap water put on the table without asking, some popcorn again given free to snack on till the food comes. Kitchen roll on the table so you can wipe your hands or the table if you spill something. Lovely food great staff and great at all times of the year.

Absolutely loved this restaurant and there was always a string of people queueing to get in which is always a good sign of a popular venue. We were lucky enough to visit week commencing 21 March when the weather was fabulous so we could sit and have a drink outdoors. We visited again the following day and sat in the gorgeous beer garden and then had some food. The menu is just amazing, so many unusual and tasty options to choose from in a newspaper style menu. We sat in the beer garden part of the restaurant which was lovely and spacious, loved the atmosphere, loved the decor, Loved the food and drink, especially the amazing milkshakes, and the staff were really helpful and looked after us well. Would definitely visit again when next in Chester and would highly recommend, even if you just go for a relaxing drink in the beer garden On a warm sunny day!

Amazing food, really busy but still go seated very quickly. Good views of the river too. Tables inside are very sticky, definitely need touching up. But the place is really nice. Food is amazing and you get free popcorn too. Staff are super friendly as well and pretty quick service. The Brisket just fell apart, exactly what it should do.

Excellence in presentation of food served and the bbq sauce is to die for. The rump steak delicious and bbq ribs a dream to eat. Yes would recommend your wait for the table will really be worth it, just hang on and you will get your table Shmo

Loved this place! First time we had visited and the atmosphere was amazing. The food was delicious and absolutely huge portion sizes. The little added touches of popcorn while we waited for our food was lovely. I had the watermelon sugar drink and it was just amazing! We will definitely be back when we visit Chester again!

Having had 2 Hickory's At Home boxes, I had to try this place out when I was in the area. Great location and the place was very busy, even just after opening. Managed to get a walk-in table for 1. Service was friendly and attentive. The food and drink were great. Had the Chicken Waffle and Cloudy Lemonade. The venue was very clean and looked great. This place is the restaurant TGI's wishes it could be.

Great place food was absolutely beautiful. Starters came out quickly followed shortly by main meal. Great service by waiters even though place was crowded as it was staurday afternoon. Would totally recommend to book table before you go as waiting lines are usually long. We will be back definitely to try other meals. 100% recommend

Very American, which was good, as the food was entirely that. Bit noisy, as lots of kids, but it fitted the atmosphere. Food excellent, some better than others. Brisket superb, great fajitas and burgers, pulled pork was mixed in with beans, which wasn't so nice.

Our second visit to Hickory Chester, and it was even better than the first! Great service, friendly staff to greet us, and the food was delicious. Brisket burnt ends and crispy chicken tenders to start, followed by brisket and pulled pork for mains. The meat was absolutely amazing, and the sauces just enhanced it all. Yummy It also sits right on the river, so when the weathers nice, outdoor seating provides a lovely view! Definitely recommend if your visiting Chester, you won’t regret it!

Brilliant smokehouse! Can’t wait to return 🥵the brisket was full of flavour, alongside the brisket Mac and cheese for perfection. First time trying corn dogs and we fully recommend. Milkshakes are thick and an great treat at the end of the meal. Definitely book in advance, even on a Monday late afternoon the place is full. Great atmosphere. Also bonus free popcorn 🤩

Called in after a walk along the river before heading up into town. My husband was very happy as they serve his favourite beer 'Pabst' which is rarely availablem in other establishments. I had the cocktail offer which was a nice tasting lemon one. Love the additional touches of free popcorn.

Incredibly fantastic especially service and also food was amazing. The meal for 2 of us, we ordered full rack rib which was tender and the staff recommended me about selecting half flavours. So, I could have 2 combination of flavours, herb and spicy. He let me taste a selection of sauces which was fantastic from light spicy to the hottest. I loved the vibes too as it was next to the River Dee. I really appreciated the food and service.

We loved it here! The food was amazing, the service was fab, the staff were all really friendly and I really appreciated the manager coming to speak to me and show me that latex free gloves are used as I have a severe allergy. We had some food left over because we order the sharer and the staff were kind enough to pack it up for us to take away.

This place is amazing, genuinely couldn’t fault one thing about it! Love the cinema for the kids, popcorn and water on the table is a nice touch, food is outstanding, friendly staff, what more could you want!

Absolutely amazing place. The food is always absolutely amazing. The only issue with the place is the lack of parking, you’ll likely always have to pay to park in the city and walk down. Dog friendly! They even brought brisket for my dog! The staff are always so lovely and knowledgeable!

Lovely restaurant. This is the first time I have been to the Chester one, and I think it's the best one I've been to. It's in a lovely location on the river. Great menu, brisket was fantastic as usual, and the starters and desserts were also top drawer. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a really pleasant meal.

I had full rack of ribs and dusted chips, really tasty. beer and cocktails were lovely too. there is a little children section where they can go watch cinema and eat popcorn which was a great addition

Booked our Team Christmas meal for 13 and ended up being 14 of us and the staff set us up no problem Staff were so kind and attentive, made sure we had everything we needed and came back at the right time for refills Food was great, no complaints from the table, Platter for 1 - highly recommend! Tried to book online but it was full. Decided to walk in and try anyway 🤞 they managed to find us a table in 10mins while we waited at the bar. Great service and fantastic food. I would recommend the Go big or Go home burger 🍔

I am giving this restaurant 5 star mainly because of its unique customer service. The level of politeness was huge. All the staff were so nice and courteous. I ordered a milkshake which I somehow didn't like because of the excess mint flavor in it, however, the restaurant insisted on giving me another milkshake as a result of my experience. This was really super nice of them. One of the staff members even took it upon himself to explain and show me the contents of the milkshake that was prepared for me. I was really amazed. The sweet potato wedges and large onion rings were delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Chester.

This place is very famous, so there is always a line on the street to enter here. Therefore, it is better to book a table online. We were here for the first time. I looked for this place based on reviews. We wanted to taste delicious meat, salads and delicious beer. And we succeeded. Here they cook deliciously and serve quickly. This portion is for two. that in the photo with different types of meat was quite large (£55). It will be enough for 3, and maybe 4. The salad portion (£11.75) was enough for 2. A very tasty draft beer with a hint of citrus (£5.50). We were sitting at a table in the courtyard. I recommend this establishment for families, couples and groups of friends. We spent £170 here for 4 adults and 3 children, but we also took a lot of meat with us that we couldn't eat in the restaurant.

Great selection of food, friendly staff & very fast service too. All the food that we had was cooked perfectly & all for a good price too. Highly recommend to anyone that loves barbecue style food.

Love the Hickory Pale ale that’s brewed for this restaurant. It’s the perfect balance of malty & hoppy, with notes of caramel. Friendly service. Great fries. Pretty good pulled pork served with beans and nice crispy pickles. Lovely spot to sit outside on their terrace with a view of the River Dee with an eclectic assortment of music playing, including American country.

From start to finish absolute amazing service from every staff member, made us feel very welcome. Food recommended was spot on the brisket was amazing especially the gravy ! Wow! First visit and would definitely come again!! Staff heard we just got married and made such a fuss , felt so special xx thank you what an amazing team 👏

I love hickories - it’s ace. I normally wouldn’t think to leave a review for hickories as it probably doesn’t need another little review from me to help it out, but, our last visit they went above and beyond. We had stopped in for an anniversary breakfast. As we were ordering I asked the wife if we should push the boat out and order mimosas, as it was a small celebration, the attentive waitress just happened to ask did she hear us right in that we said we were celebrating. We said it it was our wedding anniversary and we had booked to come to hickories to have a special breakfast. Later, after our meal (I had the hickories great American breakfast - amazing) Our waitress brought over two more complimentary mimosas due to the fact we were celebrating. It was a beautiful little touch that took us by surprise! Thanks to Amy, you made our day! Hickories just keeps calling us back! See you again soon!

One of my absolute favourites. Never disappoints - absolutely fantastic food, service and drinks. The full package. Brilliant location too, and a varied menu that allows any budget to have something fantastic 👍

This was my first visit to the Chester branch of Hickory's and I can say I was genuinely impressed. On arriving, I was immediately seated in a window seat overlooking the outside section and river, which was lovely and thoughtful being a lone diner, and was presented with a bottle of chilled water and a little appetiser bag of popcorn. I ordered the Chicken Fried Waffle with a side of magic dusted tater-tots, a black coffee and a blueberry lemonade to get my day going. The food was as always, delicious. The waffle was really well cooked, fluffy, light and crisp outside. The chicken and bacon were juicy, tender and very tasty, especially when drenched in the accompanying maple syrup, and yes, chicken, bacon and maple syrup does work, and works well! The tater-tots were lovely and fluffy inside and satisfyingly crisp outside and rather addictive! The black coffee was good, genuinely good, which came as a pleasant surprise and as for the blueberry lemonade, well, I can see myself ordering that again in the future as it's rather delicious. Portion size wise, there's definitely enough to set you up for the day through to the evening and for just over £20, was very good value, given the quality of the food too. The atmosphere is as always lovely and vibrant, the seating area was comfortable and the toilet facilities were incredibly clean and well maintained. Overall, it was a very pleasing experience, especially given the friendliness of the staff, of which special mention must go to Stephen, a genuinely affable character who was wonderfully attentive without being overly so, who allowed me to feel very relaxed and at ease during my time there, which is exactly as it should be. I shall definitely return soon.
