Chester, Cheshire England Roman Gardens and the Roman Wall is a must see! Historical 16th century Roman history. Walk and stand on the very wall that Roman soldiers once stood and guarded the city more than 2000 years ago. Tour the Roman Gardens and the King Charles Tower. Enjoy lots of shopping and local eateries.

Pleasant gardens beside the city walls, also near the amphitheatre and Grosvenor Park. The Roman gardens were developed in 1949 from pieces found around the city and is a beautiful place to sit and relax. It's a lovely way to walk between the city and the river Dee.

Nice place to relax. Use the steps or slope to wonder down to the river away from the hustle and bustle.

The Roman Gardens are located just to the right of the city walls. Easy can be had from a set of steps taking you down from the walls by Newgate. These gardens have been 'laid out' since 1949 and includes real Roman building fragments but these have been sourced from elsewhere in Chester.

Well worth coming down off the roman Wall to catch this gem and then take a walk down the river. The sun blessed us with its presence- its a beautiful walk

I loved it here, the gardens are very well kept and tidy. The atmosphere is really quiet, we sat at the bottom near the central trees and could not hear the traffic at all. Would be nice for a picnic!

A nice little garden in the centre of Chester. Not too much to see but worth a visit.

neat and tidy with plenty of flora, places to sit and enjoy the peace. Remnants of baths together with pillars make up for the feel of a true historic site. There are bins next to the benches so gardens still more then well serve their original purpouse - to relax and recuperate before heading out to explore the rest of the beatiful ancient Roman fortress of Chester

Really cool park. Old Roman Ruins lay around and mosaic floors. It’s in the middle of Chester so parking is probs not happening but if you go past this place then walk through as it’s 100% worth the stop. 👍🏻

The gardens are well done for what they are, which includes a few Roman ruins and signage. There isn't a ton to see, and the items are not originally from this site (they're from around Chester more generally), but if doing the city walls walk it's easy to take a 5-10 minute detour to walkthrough.

Worth a visit just around the corner of Amphitheatre and by the side of the city wall. The road leads down to River Dee. Nice garden with Roman artefacts. Most interesting is the water heating system - quite popular with school children.

Beautiful place in the part of Chester. Even in the rain nice walk round and great sights to see. Highly recommend for those that are very interested in sight seeing or even exploring. Maybe not good if you have little ones as for me they could get bored very easily.

Nice place to visit, free to enter and enjoy picnic, estimate time: 5 minutes walk - not much else to do

Small garden but it's worth a visit. It's located adjacent to another Roman attraction, the amphitheater.

Really nice gardens for a walk or a rest! Some great history to read about and well kept plants

Beautiful but for some reason closed in the evening at 6pm. Why? I took my mother on a walk around the walls, planning to walk through the gardens down to the Groves but they were locked up despite it being a warm summer’s evening. Is this simply because the Park warden stops work at 6? Come on Chester council, get a grip and start providing a decent service.

Lovely spot right by the city walls. Very informative panels telling you lots about the history of Chester, the Romans and the Civil War. Leads down to the very busy riverside area.

Fine example of excavations revealing Roman remains including recreation of mosaics within the garden

Lovely park and garden. From there we climbed some steps and walked the city perimeter on the Roman Wall all the way round the city. Its a must!
