Excellent place to stay for a visit to Chester. You can leave the car and walk. Rooms are comfortable with all you need, buffet breakfast is good and all day drinks a real bonus. Its near the train line but we didn't find it disturbing. Would definitely return.

We've stayed here many times in the past as it is a great location for walking into Chester. You can park for free outside the hotel at the Chester Racecourse Ground. On this occasion we were booked in for 5 nights. The original room we were given was quite noisy being on the annexe side of the main road, but a lovely chat with the duty manager resulted in a much quieter room for us which was great!!! Breakfast was included in our booking. Hot and cold options and plenty of drink options too. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, buffet style. Hot drinks available all day. There's plenty of dining room space with an outside area weather permitting!! There's a bar area too which is reasonably well stocked. All the staff are all very friendly and very helpful. Good choice for midweek or weekend break in historic Chester👌

The hotel is in a great location being a 5 minute walk form Chester city centre. Rooms are good but beds are not the most comfortable. Bathroom and shower are excellent with plenty of room. Breakfast is varied and plentiful and is constantly replenished by the attentive staff

The final star was for the staff - friendly, always smiling polite and helpful. Room clean, shower great and really hot. Bed was a bit sift for me. Good TV picture and great free WiFi. Breakfast is self service and really enjoyed with good options hot and cold. Use of hot drink machine and snack machine that is payable. Very close to Chester centre. I couldn't find anything that was a real negative.

They definitely need to sort out the sound proofing, it was like sleeping on the M6. Rubbish sleep due to noise, could also hear other guests and doors shutting. Room was nice, easy walk to Chester, breakfast was good. Staff were friendly, clean and good facilities. Sound proofing really let it down though!

Overall a fantastic experience at the Holiday Inn Express. The best thing about the hotel is the location with close access to tourist attractions such as; Chester's retail park, Lake, Old Town, museum, cafes, and shops. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and allowed us to check-in a bit early as we came directly from the flight. The rooms were clean and tidy. The breakfast was nice, tasted good, and was fresh with a variety of options. Since we prefer halal only they delighted us with vegan sausages, the rest of the menu included scrambled eggs, beans, Oats, cereals, muffins, croissants, and a variety of unlimited coffee. The hotel has a free parking lot as well.  The only turning point was that the room was not spacious though enough for two guests if they stayed in their beds ;)

This hotel is fantastic. We had such a lovely time here. The staff were an absolute delight, they couldn’t do enough for us and were so incredibly friendly it really made us feel so welcome. The location is ideal and walking distance from the city centre, free parking and they even allowed us to park there the whole day after we checked out FREE of charge which made it ideal for a whole day of shopping without needing to worry about parking anywhere else or the time to move the car. The rooms were lovely and clean. The beds were so comfortable! However the only thing I’d say as we also used the sofa bed, the sofa bed could have done with a mattress topper and it was a little hard (however we didn’t ask for one) so maybe if we did they’d have provided us with one. The breakfast was also included. And lovely, so many options available. And all cooked perfectly! When I stay in Chester again, il defiantly be booking here.

Rooms are clean and tidy, but no Aircon in this day and age given that UK is sweltering at times is just a big avoid for me. Service is good and staff were friendly. Food is what you would expect for breakfast and serviceable.

Very poor experience. Room given was very noisy despite request. Hotel is very close to the road although glasses are double glaze but still don’t expect you can sleep overnight due to cars passing every 20-30 seconds. I went down almost 12:30 MN to request another room but was told all other rooms are book. Breakfast was reasonable. Would not recommend especially if a good over night sleep matters.

Having booked accommodation elsewhere months ago - only to have been badly let down on the day, we arrived at Holiday Inn Express in Chester not holding out any hope. How wrong could we be! The reception staff went above and beyond to find us a room at no notice. Our room was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, a large range of freshly cooked food and or toast, croissants, porridge, fresh fruit etc. The hotel is VERY central to the town and literally across the car park from the Chester Racecourse. We are planning return trips, and this will be our hotel of choice every time.

A decent hotel , in nice location and ample parking Pros : - A really good breakfast buffet. With juice and hot beverages available from the machine all day. - The staff is helpful. We needed ironboard and it was provided promptly Cons : -the rooms are a bit small. - the sound proofing is rubbish. You can hear everything in the nearby rooms or in the corridors - the handwash in the bathroom is fixed quite high. So the little guests need help for the soap. - Some cleaning needed , the fan in the room was full of dust

Smart modern looking hotel in a good location in Chester with reasonably priced rooms. The staff were lovely and the breakfast is decent though not outstanding. The one major downside is that the twin rooms are tiny and at least in Summer becoming stiflingly unbearably hot - which in my case prevented sleep. The windows provide no relief as they open just a couple of inches. The staff were apologetic and said air con is on the way. But right now - phew!

First time staying here, and we will definitely return. The room was very good, very clean, great bathroom, and the beds were really comfy. Amenda on reception was lovely really friendly and chatty and helpful. Breakfast was good, with choices This Hotel is in a prime position, a short walk into town which is lovely. So much to see, many good eating places. Many shops. Also a visit to the Cathedral is a must, it is beautiful. Thank you places

Check in was easy and staff so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Rooms clean and standard for a chain but location for the city centre could not be better. Price forva double room, free coffee in the restaurant during the day and breakfast for the price was excellent. Breakfast was a buffet and sausages were great. For the price no complaints at all.

Firstly the car park was good, the staff decent and helpful and the location is convenient to walk into town. However, the room was noisy and I was woken at 6am by the strong smell of what must have been breakfast cooking and struggled to get back to sleep and heard people talking on their phones in the bar terrace beneath the closed windows. The breakfast peculiarly had to be booked by time slot and despite this I found the entire restaurant booked out and was offered an outside table. At 08:45 Al fresco dining is not ideal in the North of England so I declined to take breakfast and asked for a later slot. Still busy but a couple of tables available at the later 09:30 slot for a pretty underwhelming breakfast. Toast machine was set so one time through makes warm bread and twice through is burned. Breakie choice was tepid sausage leathery bacon watery beans and packing foam eggs. No tomato mushroom or other items. Some pastry items and bananas. The screaming children would normally be a disturbance but served to distract from the overall bleakness of the experience, so thanks for that. Rooms were super basic not very clean bathroom and no ironing facilities. I'm not sure if this is a good, bad or average example of what to expect from holiday inn but I'll be in no rush to find out. I expect theirs will be a logo that makes me grimace as I drive past it from now on.

One night stay, rooms were clean and comfortable. It is fairly noisy in the rooms facing the main road. It's not the hotels fault, but perhaps some improved glazing is required. We had to book breakfast slot, which we didn't mind. Its buffet style and staff were constantly topping up the hot food. Decent value for money overall. Great location for City.

We stayed at this hotel and I have to say it's lovely, rooms are so well presented, the entrance/lobby is very well designed, they have a restaurant area and a bar at reception. Located next to the racecourse and a short walk to chester made it perfect. Now our only disappointing aspect was the breakfast, the cooked breakfast offering was bacon, sausage, beans and scrambled egg. No hash browns, fried eggs or mushrooms in sight. Not much other options available either, tasted great though.

Great location, friendly staff, clean in all public areas. Breakfast was OK. Rooms were good size, modern and clean. Great view over Chester race course. Left my charger in my room after I checked out, I phoned up and the lady on reception had and offered to mail it to me but as I was still in Chester I went and got it. I was cheeky enough to asked some questions and she helped me Alot. I would stay again and I highly recommend it.

On checking in reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Room overlooking the road and park area opposite. Fan in room which was definitely needed as the weather was really hot. Can't fault anything about the room, clean, good quality towels, shower powerful. Breakfast was good an d plenty of choice. Drinks weren't extortionate considering it's next to race course. 5 to 10 minute walk into centre. Free carpark. Really lovely ladies on reception especially the one with broken toe.

As others have said, the room was really hot. The window being open could have solved this potentially, but the main road outside was too busy to do this. There is a fan provided, and large fans in the corridor and stairwell areas. The room was clean and well stocked. The staff were polite and friendly. I asked for an iron and it was with me within 10 minutes. Overall, the hotel is a nice place. Air-con is the major deficiency, but I have seen responses to previous reviews stating this is something that will be installed in the future. I would stay there again, as the hotel is of a generally good standard.

Excellent location overlooking the beautiful racecourse and hop, step and jump to city centre. Close to the zoo as well. Barrier enclosed parking. Excellent size family room. Friendly and helpful staff. Huge breakfast included. 24hr free hot drinks from dispensing machine. Excellent room tariff too.
