I can't recommend this scouting group more highly. Our daughter is currently in Beavers and loving every minute! Her confidence is improving week after week and she is getting to make new friends, whilst experiencing things that she would otherwise certainly miss out on, such as Sailing and Smurf on Camp!! The Beaver leaders have all been fantastic with our daughter, helping her to overcome initial shyness and making her feel completely at ease in the group. She is now thriving and we are looking forward to seeing how she develops over the coming years, as she progresses through Cubs and Scouts. As far as a weekly commitment goes, Scouts at 1st Bistre is by far the best value for money that we have experienced. The monthly membership is low and for additional outings, they only seem to charge the absolute minimum, to cover the expenses of the day, which is so refreshing and helpful in today's economy. I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to all at 1st Bistre Scout Group for their dedication and commitment to volunteering. This is what every small community needs!

I can not put into words how amazing the experiences my children have had while part of 1st Bistre Scout Group. We are relatively new members, but the experiences they have already taken part in are unbelievable! My son joined towards the end of last year, as a Beaver. As well as the fun-filled weekly meetings and cooking on an open fire, he has also been on walks up Moel Famau and even tried sailing! This weekend he is going on his first camp with the Beavers and is so excited to spend the weekend with his new friends. My Girl Guiding daughter was very jealous of the fun, outdoor activities that she has now also joined Scouts. Within her first few weeks she has learnt to fish and is out on a nature walk with them this evening. Even I have joined in on the action and volunteered as a helper. The leaders are all amazing, really supportive of each other and the children. The wealth of experience they have between them is second to none, and they are all prepared to give up more time to go and support a different section on a new adventure. It really is like one big family that you didn't know you needed. We can not thank the leaders enough for giving up their time to offer our children experiences that they would not normally be able to access! Thank you 1st Bistre Scout Group!

My two boys are involved in Bistre, one in Beavers and the other in Squirrels! What two wonderful groups. All leaders are just incredible, so dedicated and hardworking. They have all taken time to get to know my children and are always there to welcome them with smiles. Both boys have had the most amazing opportunities at Bistre and look forward to their scouting journey as part of the group. Thank you, you have and continue to enrich our boys lives!

The best decision ever to join 1st Bistre Scouts. From the moment my daughter joined she was counted as part of the "Scouting family". Her confidence has grown so much and she's doing activities that we would never have imagined she'd try let alone love, from sailing, kayaking, map reading, exploring and camping. Every week is different! They are so supportive and fun and the kids really do have a say in how the group is run too.

Bistre scout group is the extended family we never knew we needed, along with being filled with fun, adventure and opportunities to connect with the outdoors; be it sailing, hiking, camp outs and more! 1st Bistre scout group also offer life skills, community, charity, self development and somewhere there is always a friendly face and a kindness we all need access to at times. Joining Bistre squirrels was the best thing we did for our little one!

I can not recommend 1st Bistre scouts enough. Both my children go to Squirrels and Cubs and really enjoy it. They both get to learn life skills that sometimes wouldn’t be taught in other settings. I appreciate all that the leaders do as volunteers and the children appreciate them and have built good friendships with leaders and children.

Both my children have attended 1st Bistre and have gone through Beavers to Cubs and Scouts. The team of adults have always put in so much work to allow my children and all children in the group the best opportunities and given them the chance to try new exciting things. As my son progressed through the sections (he is now in Scouts) he has had some set backs within his personal life and the team at 1st Bistre have stuck by and supported both him and me through these changes. My daughter is loving Cubs and for a while was one of only a couple of girls but didn't care as she was able to do all the things boy could do and has grown with her self confidence and her self esteem. I am proud to send my children to 1st Bistre Scout group and love the warm, family feeling the group offers!

My son joined 1st Bistre Beavers after Easter and is having a blast! Such a fabulous group of leaders, offering such a varied range of experiences both indoors and out. He’s made some great friends since joining 1st Bistre, as have I. Can’t wait for another year out with the Santa float, dancing the streets of Buckley, spreading Christmas cheer whilst raising those all important funds to support the group.

The perfect setting for all young explorers, my sons been with 1st Bistre since beavers, now in cubs they have helped him grow fearlessly, encouraged his creative side & neutered him when he’s been nervous. The leaders are second to none in helping all young people feel safe, heard & supported. It’s a pleasure to be involved in what way I can and to sit and watch my son grow more and more. They not only support the children, they ease any parental concerns, they creative a safe, none judgmental & open space where my son can simply be himself in the best way possible. I can’t recommend enough.

My son has been involved with 1st Bistre Scout Group now for over 9 years starting off in Beavers. To see the amount of new skills he has learnt with the great support of all the leaders there is such a fantastic thing to see. Thank you to all the volunteers for your time in introducing these skills in such a fun and informative way. Keep up the great work
