What a great relaxing place to stay. We had a 2 night stay here in a lodge for my partners birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Checking in on line made the checking in process on our day of arrival quick and easy. The lodge was spotlessly clean and we could smell the freshness as soon as we opened the door. The lodge had everything we needed and it was spacious and comfortable. The hot tub itself was clean and very relaxing. We loved it so much there we have already booked to go again later this year .

Stayed mid October for a lovely weekend at the Wren lodge. I read a number of the reviews prior to arriving but can safely say the lodge was spotlessly clean, very well maintained and the staff were very friendly and more than helpful! We loved the fact that based on the location of our lodge being tucked away, we had enough privacy to use the hot tub without being over looked by others, whilst being able to soak up the environment of this woodland retreat. The lodge itself caters for all your needs, has all the appliance’s - kettle, toaster, microwave including dinner wear and even plastic glasses for around the tub. Towels and bedding were provided. The lodge was lovely and warm the minute we walked in and had plug ins to make it smell fresh and clean. We really had a welcoming stay.

On arrival staff were very helpful and explained about the site and where the lodge was. Lovely site and can imagine it in full bloom during the summer it would be stunning. Still lovely during a cold but bright Feb stay. Great fun just wondering around the site but take care of the Geese and ducks as they don't move for you. Loved the hot tub and had fun with the kids morning and evenings as we did plenty of site seeing over our 4 day stay. The e-mail sent before we arrived was very helpful as restaurants were being booked up over valentine's so we had a chance to book before arriving and great choices. New shop on site but we didn't have a chance to use so can't commit. Overall a very good and enjoyable stay. Just one suggestion to make it better is could add a few hooks for towels inside as nowhere to put the towels to dry, a must for kids. From Kieron

Just back from a 2 night stay in Shearwater Lodge with our dog and have really enjoyed it. Lodge was spotless and all the staff were friendly. The lake is well stocked with fish so it was great to fish here, the hot tub was lovely and an all round relaxing , peaceful break. We didn’t want to leave but will be back again! The cherry pie inn is worth a visit, lovely place with great food!

Beautiful night away. We arrived at night time and it was magical, the drive was all lit up. We had a swift check in and drove up to the lodge. We stayed in Starling which was right at the top of the hill and resort. It was lovely accommodation with everything we needed. Hot tub was a true luxury. Was so peaceful and quiet. Overall a very relaxing stay, can highly recommend and would love to go back soon.

Lovely stay in a 2 bed lodge to celebrate a birthday. Very chilled out experience, like being in the middle of nowhere. Beds very comfy, great size for 4 people Kitchen could do with a couple more oven trays etc, otherwise excellent. Would definitely stay again if the price was right, prices on the high side for a lodge.

Situated in some stunning scenery, this place was fabulous and fairly close to local amenities (a short drive). Considering the price we paid for a two night stay, I must admit that I was disappointed to find that we had no tea, coffee or milk on arrival. I thought this came as standard now?! Instead, I had the choice to wait for the shop to open or drive to the nearest supermarket. The actual lodge facilities were good, but the mattresses were pretty dire and resulted in two bad nights of sleep as you could feel the springs digging into your back.

Awful place. Would not wish this site on my worst enemy. It’s more of a prison camp than a holiday retreat. Steer clear of this place.

Second stay here and absolutely loved it. Relaxing, clean and friendly staff. Manager was absolutely lovely and gave me free duck feed for my kids. Hot tub was clean and relaxing. The only thing I would suggest is that the hot tubs would benefit from a shelter so it can be used in all weathers. Hoping for a third stay soon.

The location itself is beautiful. The Pictures of the lodges online are completely different to the place, as if they only use the same picture from when it first opened. The rooms look and feel dirty. Stains on the headboard and curtains. Bed felt like the sheet hadn’t been changed and the outside decking needs a good clean. Felt more like ruffing it.

Sent original complaint in and never heard back from the management, which is just as poor as the state of the cleaning at this property. Complaint as below. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. I booked this as a surprise for my fiancé's birthday. The photos on yours and Booking. Com websites do not reflect the true quality of the product you offer. The most disappointing thing was the state of the cleanliness, the inside was dusty and had stains on the sofa and bathroom window. The outside area with the hot tub was absolutely full of dirt and cobwebs, which clearly has not been cleaned for a substantial amount of time. The BBQ was absolutely flitly and there is no way that this is hygienic to cook on, therefore I would not have paid to hire this. I also feel that this should be included in the price paid. The candles were not replaced, if they aren't included, they should have been put in the bin. The outside table was full of the previous occupants cigarette ash, as non smokers, we found this disgstuing. The door mat inside the lounge is thread bare and should have been binned and replaced a long time ago. The amount of dust on top of the cupboards is unbelievable and clearly has not been cleaned for a long time. My partner is a hotel manager and was shocked at the cleanliness and general maintenance. Its a shame, as the setting is nice and this would put us of returning. My I also add that the guest service pack you provide is disgraceful, it is old and battered, water marks all over it, doesn't set a good standard.

Sadly this was my third visit to Herons Lake and will be my last. Booked as a break with my mum following a tough few months. The staff on reception are rude and abrupt, not a great way to start a break. The lodge was ok, very exposed hot tub and decking space and situated on the main drive. Very dirty exterior lots of cobwebs, decking area tired, mismatched furniture. The hot tub water was clean but there were visible grime spots around the edging, easy for us to remove but really shouldn’t have been our job. The lodge beds were comfortable but the overall fixtures, fittings and furnishings are tired, definitely ready for an update. The site is laying down concrete by many of the lodges meaning dreadful noise and traffic which the team are not advising guests prior to booking or on arrival . A relaxing two night stay became a lodge on a construction site with diggers, rollers, work men, loud noise/ bad smells from 7.50am - 5pm. Far from the relaxing retreat they advertise. Upon mentioning to the owner on departure our feedback was not welcomed and we sadly did leave feeling disappointed with the experience. We won’t return and think it’s fair guests are made aware of the ongoing construction work prior to booking as we would never have gone knowing this. I’m sure when works are complete and necessary upgrades to the lodges are made this will once again be a nice place to stay. The grounds team advised it’s an ongoing project over many months. Staff could do with recognising they are in customer service which requires them to listen and take on board guest feedback. It seems many reviews over the last three months have been negative.

Arrived to be told we were being put in another lodge from the one we booked..not happy as i booked a specific lodge to accomadate my back problems...but was rectified after a bit of back and forth. We come here a lot..its a beautiful place and the lodges are amazing....but...£500 plus from 4 pm( when we finally got in) friday til 10am sunday is going to have me looking for cheaper alternatives...such a shame because we love it here.

Where do I even start! First we were told the place we had booked had flooded and we needed to be moved somewhere else.. the new place was cheaper by over a hundred pounds. We were told we would get free bath robes and prosecco, No bath robes but we did get Prosecco and box of chocolate. This was my first time here but my daughter comes 2/3 a year. This was a birthday celebration. The first night was great. Second night... Was completely ruined. This was is a £300 a night stay so not cheap. We got into the hot tub and and brought a speaker out, turned the speaker on and the music was loud so my daughter was walking back inside to get the phone to turn it down.. as she walked up the steps a flash light appeared and a man told us to turn the music off!! Not down like we was doing, completely off!!! We did. It had been on 1min at most. She then got into the hot tub and we was talking and laughing about the day.. then once again the light turned up and we was being told to stop laughing!! Stop laughing and we quiet he said. There is noway people complaining would of had the time to say we was being loud because he was there within 5mins of the music being turned off. We sat there shocked and disgusted. It's not like we were drunk and screaming and stuff, we are 4 fully grown adults who were Merry at most. To say the night was ruined was an understatement. I won't be back again but my daughter comes 2/3 times a year and she was upset so I don't know if she will be back.

The week we stayed there, works were being carried out next to us for a day and a half. A sorry text message and a £5 bottle of fizz didn't stop that ruining half of our honeymoon. The company have some audacity not to offer us any money back. Bar the cleaners, the staff weren't great either. As Herons are open 365 days you are literally just part of their turnover. Avoid if you expect any sort of appreciation for spending a small fortune with them. They couldn't pay us to stay there again, definitely should've applied some lubrication before we went....

Lovely place to visit with some amazing countryside around them. Hot tubs with every pod/chalet which really add to the overall experience and help u relax whenever you take a dip. Friendly staff upon arrival and lots of information to hand about the area when you book in. Looking to book again for next year, possibly with more family members so there are plenty of options to choose from with the chalets. Away from the site you are roughly 20 mins from Rhyl by car and all the tourist attractions in this area. Only a 2 night stay but enough to make us want to visit again 👍

Been a few times was ok could do with few improvents in comparison 2 other places I've been 2 with hot tubs. No shelter over hot tub so in bad weather not the best. No hooks for towels or clothes outside so basically use the floor. This time was just a caravan but om a solid base. Was ok but expensive for 1 night compared to other places. Not much in local area for restaurants etc.

A wonderful location for a celebration break. My partner celebrated his 21st birthday whilst we were away, and this was the perfect location for us. A host of local walks and quick access to the main highway through North Wales meant we were never short of anything to do. The lodge was clean and tidy with no shortage of kitchen equipment, and the hot tub was a nice bonus for the when the temperature dropped off in the evening. The on site shop provided a couple of essentials to save a drive into the village, and all of the staff we encountered were pleasant and couldn't do enough to help. This wasn't our first visit having been many times before, but we will definitely be back here many more times in the future!

Myself and my partner have visited Herons seven times now and absolutely love it there! We have just done one night stays and it's the perfect break from reality. We keep an eye on the Facebook page and usually wait for the last minute deals which are excellent value for money! We have stayed in lodges Teal, Finch, Nightingale, Starling, Jay, Sparrow and most recently Kestrel. Each time the lodges have been clean, tidy and warm. Offering everything you need for a relaxing nights stay. The hot tubs are one of the main reasons we have chosen to come back again and again along with the beautiful grounds and scenery. The staff have allways been very welcoming and helpful! Thanks Herons, hope to see you again soon!

In the Wagtail Chalet, we had the comfiest bed. Thankful for the fan found in the wardrobe as it was a hot day. The hot tub was also a treat.

They lodge me and my partner stayed in was super clean very peaceful. They staff were all amazing. Very happy and happy to help with anything we asked of them. Dog friendly. When we left after our 2 night stay I left my expensive galaxy ear buds there by mistake I phoned them days later when I realised I've left them there and they have posted them to me. What an honest amazing thing to do. Highly recommended absolutely love this place 100% going back very soon

We absolutely love our stays at Herons lake, we have been both as a couple and with our newborn and felt equally as relaxed there, lovely location, nice walks and amazing private lodges and hot tubs.. ultra relaxing

Lovely place! We came here for 3 nights out of our 7 night holiday and we wished we'd booked for the full week. It was idyllic, comfy and the hot tub was gorgeous. It wasnt the cleanest place but our cabin certainly wasn't dirty. We booked a small cabin and it was actually bigger than we thought it would be. There is no wifi but there is a tv and a DVD player in the cabin. We paid for the barbeque hire and we loved having our own bbq and hot tub. There was also a fridge, microwave and oven. Our cabin was very private too which was perfect. The location is nice; not a massive amount of things nearby but plenty of walks and places to drive to if you have a car. They have a shop onsite with food and drink (including bbq packs) alcohol and DVD hire. We drove to Snowden and it was an hours drive. We cant wait to return :)

Overall a very nice 1 night stay, we had a small pod near the lake which had pretty much everything you need but there were a few niggles. The supplied gas BBQ was a bit flimsy and very small so small in fact we ended up just using the cooker in the pod. Few areas like the fan extractor and window sill when opened could have done with a wipe. The jacuzzi was overall good, easy to operate but more than half of the jets didn’t work even when on the high setting. Outside most of the pods have no cover which is a shame, a small simple extended roof or even an umbrella would have made the word of difference especially as we get more rain than sun in the UK. Only 1 towel given per person which is not enough especially if you intend to use the hot tub so its worth bringing a few of your own.

Stayed here for 1 night with my boyfriend and it was lovely. Our lodge had modern furniture and decor and most importantly was clean. The jets on the hot tub weren't that strong but that could have been something we were doing wrong. Also, the fire alarm went off at 5am but that can't be helped.

So surprised to see this beautiful place actually has bad reviews. I could not think of a bad thing to say about our stay, the only possible thing that comes to mind is that we didn’t stay longer than 3 days!!!! Will definitely be booking ASAP to go back. We stayed in the brand new lodge the Goldcrest Lodge and what a little diamond it is. Beautiful place and lovely staff, great customer service. I just don’t know how people could say a bad word about this little gem. See you soon x

Stayed here back in novemeber as a birthday treat. All though a beautiful place & lovely lodge, It had problems. There was no soap provided for the shower or anything, and only 2 tiny towels. The chlorine in the hot tub dyed my boyfriends boxers a different colour & both gave us a rash. It was way too strong and obviously had not been monitored properly. Both these issues were brought to their attention and not much done about it. Wont be returning!

Stayed here for a weekend away with my partner, staff are absolutely brilliant, cabins are clean and cosy. If you go at the weekend a word of warning there may be groups out for a party. But, if it is much after hours you don't just get ignored the staff will do something about it, couldn't fault them. Will definitely return.

Stayed at herons lake retreat, on arrival we arrived early around 3:00pm, our lodge wasn’t ready until 3:30pm. This wasn’t a problem but considering the money we spent we thought you could have an earlier time to be at your lodge to get your money’s worth without having to spend extra. Also if you want to speak to staff or management you had to drive your car to the reception, they would not speak to you standing there which I found quite odd. I was impressed with how private my lodge was and how big the front garden area was for my dog to have his space. Negative side on that is there was no gate blocking off my lodge, so I had to keep full eyes on my dog at all times when outside the lodge. Also no dog bins! The lodge itself was clean, disappointment that there was no simple tea, coffee or small shampoo/shower gel on arrival, even though I do bring my own, it would have been nice to have them at the lodge. Enjoyed the hot tub and gas BBQ which you pay extra for. No recycling at my lodge and customer service wasn’t the greatest. When leaving you have to be out of the room by 10:00, with the amount you pay for a nights stay they should extend the time at least so you do not feel rushed in the morning without having to pay extra to stay for an extra hour. All in all, great stay but did have its disadvantages.

Just got back from a mini break and could have stayed forever, so peaceful. Although the lodge we stayed in could have done with a lick of paint on the outside the inside was immaculate, cosy and had everything we needed. Only real negative I have is workmen coming in the property to fit a sign not long after we arrived, only a 5 minute job but surely could have been done while they had no guests in, considering it's a hot tub lodge I found this a bit intrusive. That said, had a wonderful time and would definitely go back.

I stayed in the lake side view lodge and it was beautiful! No problems what so ever the view was unreal and the walls are amazing if your into that sort of thing. I will definitely be booking here again soon. The staff was so polite and helpful with any questions we had. The wild life there is absolutely amazing seeing ducklings walking about the site. I would recommend this to anyone and anyone with children to.

Amazing from start to finish the campaign was aboustly lovely. The pod was cleaned to a very high standard. The hot tub was just amazing as well. Lovely warm and friendly staff to great you. Nothing was to trouble It is a hidden gem. We can't wait to book again in the same pod.

Just got home from our first stay here, definitely will not be our last. Had a fabulous time staying in Skylark Pod, hot tub was amazing (private too so didnt feel exposed to passers-by or neighbours), pod had everything we needed (aside from slightly larger baking tray and tea bags) and was large enough for 2 people to stay for a weekend including the bed which pulled down easily and was comfortable so we slept well. Hopefully we will be back soon.

Gorgeous 2 night break away at Herons! Customer service has been incredible…we originally booked to stay in the Cuckoo lodge, this was fab but on arrival our dog was terrified of going up the stairs (he’s 9 stone so not an easy task to try and carry him up each time 🤣) I thought we were going to have to take him home but after a conversation with the lovely Jo…she managed to swap us into a bigger lodge with no stairs! We were so so grateful for her help and understanding 🥰 we have been able to enjoy the most gorgeous, peaceful stay here for my husbands birthday and we can’t wait to return! Thanks again for making our stay so fabulous💚 x

Lovely place which we really enjoyed. The surroundings were everything we expected, in the middle of the woods, it really was a retreat. For self catering it was disappointing that we had to pay to hire a Bbq when the cabin only had a microwave and toaster-leaving us with no choice but to hire the bbq! The accommodation a was clean and well maintained.

Me and my partner booked 2 nights here and ended up extending are stay for an extra night we we’re overwhelmed with how beautiful the place was definitely wasn’t disappointed with the loge either! after checking out we made a minor complaint about the hot tub leaving us very sore red tight and uncomfortable me and my parents was both saw by our out of hours GP and was sadly told we was suffering chemical burns from the hot tub after speaking to herons lake and being told they would not be taking responsibility after a week long investigation and no out come we had to seek legal advice! we also did not receive the security deposit back after we left we was curious to why we hadn’t received it so my parents messaged them to ask their response was we had noise complaints and was racing our cars around we was not notified about any noise complaints when we were there and certainly were not racing any car around! Really disappointed with the customer service after we left as we really had a nice time
