It appears that the name Wood Pit refers to a coal mine, one of many in the area. It is on the line of an old railway. To access the reserve go the village of Coed Talon. There is a small car park just off the Corwen Road. It also s bridal way, so you can take your horse. When my wife and I walked the track to the next village, Llanfyndd, it was a bit muddy, so boots needed. It is about a one and a half miles walk. Unfortunately it was in September when we did the walk and the Railway Inn did not open till 5pm. We did a circular walk back via a footpath through the Tree Top Fishery. It was hard going as many chalets had been built and path was hard to follow. Eventually after crossing the river we found our way back onto the B5101. The next footpath back to the carpark was horrendous. It was completely overgrown!!

Follows a long disused railway, so walk is flat and easy going. May have large puddles across the route after periods of heavy rain. Peaceful setting.
