Many run of the mill restaurants serve premade meals, bought from Brakes, and heated up/spiced up in their own kitchens. But not here. This is A* top quality food, cooked from fresh ingredients and served as and when ready. The difference is obvious, and the results superb. We had an absolutely divine meal last night for a party of eight, cooked to perfection and served without fuss. The attentive staff are quick in noticing what's needed, and providing it, but not obtrusive. An immensely enjoyable evening, where we feel no pressure to do anything except dine like gods. Would very, very much recommend this restaurant as one of the best in north Wales.

Great Sunday lunch, the wagu beef with Yorkshire puds and the lamb were both excellent, very tasty and cooked perfect with a side order of cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes and red cabbage and green beans. Tasty gravy to top it off. Table Service was excellent and attentive with drinks, menus, orders taken and served quickly and efficiently with a pleasant smile. All of our party enjoyed their food . Recommended pub and restaurant. Update 15/10/23 . Party of 10..... 8 adult roast dinners and 2 children's meals and starters , all were perfectly cooked and excellent, tasty starters too. Service and drinks were Good too. Well worth a visit .

This is a small plates restaurant and they recommend three plates per person. We had three plates from the nibbles section and two from the Plates section, but we added a bow of chips between two of us and I had a strawberries and cream dessert. This was more than enough, though my boyfriend then ordered the cheeseboard as it looked so nice! The food was out of this world! Every dish was unique and the look and taste wonderful. Service very efficient and professional and the ambience cosy and welcoming.

Refuse to cater for a plant based diet which seems a bit backwards nowadays! Were going to book for a family meal until we discovered this so will book elsewhere. It's so easy now to offer at least one option! Even if only one person in a family is vegan, you lose trade from the rest of the group by doing this. I've worked in very busy pubs myself, with tiny kitchens, and still managed to offer a selection of plant based meals, or meals that can be made plant based with minimal tweaking, such a shame!

We have been to the White Horse many times but sadly on this occasion were disappointed .We went in a party of seven for a family get together .We requested two vegetarian roast dinners which we told they don't do. As I eat fish I ordered halibut. My daughter who is a vegetarian was then left with no choice but to have the goats cheese and asparagus risotto .The only thing on the menu she could have . It arrived and was what we all considered to be a small starter portion in a dish but cost £21 .My daughter who never complains wasn't happy so we sent it back as we were told they would do a' fresh one '. This came on a flat plate but really not much bigger at all which we pointed out but nothing was done . The others in the party had large roast dinners with lots of veg, yorkshire pudding ,meat etc. and all enjoyed their food . I thought on payment my daughter's bill may have been adjusted for the time she sat at the table with no food in front of her .They didn't .We were very disappointed with the customer service .

Really lovely place. Had the small plates....pate, beetroot and belly pork. So well presented and staff so friendly and made a big fuss of my dog. Great Bittburger beer too. Highly recommended.

An experience. Quirky little place with great views. Friendly, welcoming staff. The food however is an acquired taste and with a bill of over £100 for two, and only 2 alcoholic drinks, and not great food, we won't go back, but others seemed to be enjoying it so I'd say give it a try. X

I have been lucky enough to eat here several times and it is the best kept secret in the area. The food is always exceptional with fresh products and an ever changing menu to represent what is not only seasonal but fresh and excellent at that moment in time. The service is very good with very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff. I suspect if this place was in a more populated area it would be overrun but tucked away in the valley it manages to strike a perfect balance.

Such a cosy restaurant with lovely atmosphere and great food. Some of the food could have done with a bit more seasoning in my opinion (mainly the duck dish) but it was a fantastic meal nonetheless and I will be returning again at some point.

Very very good! Incredible. Could have a better cocktail menu. Really wanted an old fashioned but only had an espresso martini and aprerol spritz on offer sadly.

Great restaurant in a very isolated and beautiful location. The food was amazing and service fantastic. All the dishes we had were excellent.

We were forced off the Offa's Dyke path by storm Agnes and lucked upon The White Horse. Soaked, we were welcomed into this warm pub and subsequently served a fantastic meal of small plates. Eating out in London has frankly been a let down recently, this place is better than anything I have eaten there in months and half the price. If you get a chance to pop in and try a few bites, give it a go. Welsh Rarebit is elevated to something really special.

Not up to its usual high standard. Sat in the snug which was probably a mistake but we had a dog with us. Snug menu not available but not told that. Waitress not great and plates and cutlery-from a pate course were expected to be used when eating a haddock dish. Would we go back again…… maybe but not for a while.

I visited for evening meal yesterday with three friends. We ordered different dishes and all were very pleased at quality of food and service. Great ambience and unpretentious. Recommended

Was here for a Sunday roast adapted in part for some fussy eaters (vegetarians lol) and we were not only fully catered for in an accommodating manner but also really impressed by the Sunday roast - far better than the ones we get in the pubs in England. Really nice cosy atmosphere too with an open fire and good range of ales and lagers.

My fiancée and I ate here recently. We sat outside with our dog and watched the sun set. The food was excellent as was the drinks and the service. I must particularly mention the chips. They are the best chips I have ever tasted in my life and I am in my sixties!

Found it by accident and stopped for a quick lunch. We were pleasantly surprised to find food of the highest quality. Will definitely eat there again.

Disappointed they'd changed to small plate menu, almost on the line of tapas. Spoke to lady by the ladies she had always loved the restaurant not sure her group would come back. Needless to say the food was very different but pricey for the portions chose less than I would have when it was a restaurant.

We had a fabulous lunch on Sunday. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Roast beef cooked to perfection. It is our favourite place for Sunday lunch. We will return !

Just doing small plates at the moment, which seemed like an overpriced mish mash of food with no connection. Disappointed!

Great meal, all fresh and tasted fantastic. Really appreciate these pubs and restaurants offering take out. Thank you very much and well done to the staff and management.

One of the best puddings I've had anywhere! The chocolate truffle was truly lovely, and the cheesecake was very nice, but then our main courses were a cut above too, much better than average and in a nice cosy environment with good service. Well done White Horse! 😀

What a gem! Came on the recommendation of a local airbnb host - food was phenomenal, great variety and exceptional value for money. We ordered nearly every one of the share plates and not a single one disappointed. Would become a regular if only we were local!

I was surprised to find an amazing and original food selection in what can safely be called the middle of nowhere. Staff was excellent and friendly. I can't wait to go back!

Amazing food, tapas styled food is definitely unique and something I've never seen before in a pub. The complimentary crisps were stunning and the pork belly was fantastic!
