Such a soothing place to visit!! The serenity of the place, the cooing of the pigeons and the fluttering of their wings makes it absolutely surreal. The place is so serene and calm. You can spend hours and admire the beauty of this historical site. •No entry fees is required. •Only demerit is there isn't any parking space.

It's ok to go there you will see any wonder over this is just simple old monument, this is my first visit I thought this place would be large and I would get to see many things there but I entered it was this only which you can see in photos or nothing but ya I felt good after sitting on stairs and look into deep. It was 50-50 feeling. I would suggest if you want to go there then you should put this place in last in your list. Thanks 👍 have fun.

Very interesting and beautiful ‘well’ in the centre of Delhi (although well doesn’t do it justice). Strangely romantic and moving for a piece of civil engineering! Free to enter. Lots of steps (it kind of ‘is’ steps). Down a narrow lane so you may have to walk a short distance but it’s worth it.

Is was a good adventurous visit to one of the ancient well in delhi (ugrasen ki baoli).is was basically for water storage build in Tughlaq dynasty. Is was a huge well as usual it was more crowded when we visited. Is has 60m depth and it has room like structure along side the well and it has different levels with steps till the deep end. It's architecture was awesome. No tickets is needed to visit this place just free to visit. A must visit place in delhi and the haunted places in delhi

This place is famous for it's horrific past (suicide, ghost stories) and secondly for PK movie scene. It's usually crowded in tye morning time and empty by noon. Entry is not allowed after 6 pm. No entry fees. It was mainly made for water drainage system in past, and when water used to collect here it's colour was Black. You will still see some black water there. Rest is good if it's not crowded. And do not forget to get your pic in PK pose.

This place has an eerie feeling. I don't know why but as you go deep downstairs near the water there is a suffocating feeling. You can definitely try good photo shorts. This place has got good photography atmosphere and many movies were shot here . However there is no positive vibes here . This place is a very famous tourist spot especially among the young crowd, a lot of young people come here. The entry is free and by 5:45 pm this place is closed. Located in Haley Road. Even outside the monument, since this place is a bit far away from the main road so the locality is mostly empty. There are few vendors outside selling beverages and a mini auto rickshaw 🛺 stand so you don't have to worry about the connectivity . People who are interested in spooky stuffs may find this place interesting 👻

Nice place and there are narrow streets leading to it, which are used by washerman. Though famous and it has come up in many Bollywood movies. It is not maintained nicely but still lot of people come to visit this place. As it was a part of my calendar trail I visited it and must admit that it is a very calm place and we can spend lot of time here in total peace.

This place was Gem💎 in the bucket of artificial stones as it is surrounded by building and modern newly made architecture. Short and simple area , Watch guard was rude but it's fine. Cool and quite place to sit silently for a while but Needed to maintained more as it was dirty also and not taken care of much. I enjoyed this place Silence and calmness alot ♥️

Interesting monument, well kept and not too crowded. The number of pigeons are a put off, though, because they've really mucked by the monument with their droppings and nests all over the place. But overall, an experience, especially given that it's supposedly one of the most haunted places in India!

Recommended for a short visit since there is not much to see. The history behind this stepwell is bit tempting too. In ancient times, people used to store water at this place which is somewhere around 60m long and 15m wide with 108 stairs in total. You can sit on the stairs and enjoy the environment. No entry fees, no guide to inform about the history too. Wonderful place for photography and not at all haunted. Visiting time is from Sunrise till Sunset. Enjoy your weekend.

Agrasen Ki Baoli, which is also known as Agrasen Ki Baoli is one of the coolest places to visit in Delhi. It became quite popular after Amir Khan’s PK movie and on the other hand, is also infamous for its haunted activities at night. This 60-meter long and 15-meter wide step well in Connaught Place attracts many. You must pay a visit to this place while exploring the lanes of CP. Tip: This place has a wide scope for photography and stunning selfies with a creative backdrop. Built By: king Agrasen Built In: 14th century Opening hours: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm Nearest Metro Station: Barakhamba Road or Rajiv Chowk metro station. Distance from Delhi airport: 35 min (16.5 km)

One of the hidden gems in Delhi I would say. You don’t see a lot of local tourists here who need to see the popular tourist spots in a couple of days. Surprised to find such historic treasure so close to Connaught Place. I like photography so had planned to visit this place. Amazing to click images of the step well. You can walk down till a place where there are ropes tied. The place is overall quiet. A board outside gives details about the history. No tickets required. Vehicles not allowed beyond a certain point on that road. Do see the images and videos I have shared.

It’s located completely in a secluded place from traffic and honking. A short walk into the a calm and peaceful street leads to Baoli. You can sit from sunrise to sunset. What I have seen is it’s a hangout place for couples. But personally I had good time sitting in there for like an hour talking to friends. You don’t get any food items there. Just click 1-2 pictures and nothing else there to explore. No entry fee.

The building is amazing and historical, but there are too many ppl who are just using it as hang out. I wish they protected this area and have a bit more opportunity for ppl to see the place. No tickets or tour guide is required. If you driver recommend tour guide he or she working with them.

It is a very historical place to visit. actually in old times people use to collect water from baoli's. as you walk down the stairs. there use to be water where people used to used it. in some baoli in India you can still find water when you go down.. the place is full of bats though today that you can hear their voices everytime you go. the famous movie PK where Amit Khan use to sits on stairs where strange voice used to came was this place only. overall whenever you visit there you can find many pople. the place open at 8 in morning. and if you get a chance when there are less people you can actually get some amazing pictures like me.. ☺️

One of the best places to explore in Delhi. But there are many restrictions that have been imposed, like the mosque side was closed, and you can't go to the lowest floor of the baoli for safety reasons. Apart from that, in this place you can easily find a lot of couples.

It's a nice place to visit. It's like a hidden gem in the middle of all the development around. Surprised me that it still exists and also makes me wonder what all must have made way for the growth of our cities. Wasn't very crowded so could spend some time sitting on the steps and just forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Good spot for a quick visit.

Ah ! It's a heart of Delhi ! Nearest place to roam near connaught place. If you're stressed - Go this place and sit for sometimes on stairs. You'll feel relaxed. Anyhow - Lastly I visited there I found water level on stairs was there. And Govt. is not taking care of that. Which is bad. Thanks and recommended visit.

I never knew I can find a peaceful place in Delhi. This place was amazing. Suggested by a friends, this place offers silence, serenity and absolute beauty. You can find so many pigeons flying around so you can click many photographs. At different times of day the sunlight dances around and the place looks more magical. Do visit it once for sure.

One of the oldest step wells in the city of Delhi, it is about a kilometre away from Connaught Place, along Kasturba Gandhi Marg and then onto Hailey Road. It attracts a lot of visitors, and film shootings also take place here, most notable being PK & SULTAN. A lot of pigeons nest in the arches and in its nooks and cavities. There is a long flight of steps leading to the bottom. It is quite deep and dates back to the Tughlaq & Lodhi period according to historians.

If you are really into architectural and scenic places, you will love it. walking distance from India Gate via KG marg. Not a proper stand but it is in a Lane, and enough space is available for Bikes and Car parking. No entry fee. Sanitation not so great. No washroom facilities. Close to CP. Not Divyang-friendly. A good place to visit while you are on a Delhi Tour. Considered to be one of the most Haunted places of Delhi, but don't worry😂😂 It's nothing like that. Visit the place, Enjoy🤟 Have a Good one🥰 P.S.- It's a cultural heritage of our country, please let it be like that. If you love your Bae, give him/her some gifts, don't inscribe their names on the walls or stairs as it only makes them गाली का पात्र. Also, don't litter. It's both, a request from me, and a display of your SANSKAAR. Thank you👍

Never go to this place on public holidays because it's a small place yet so crowded. You will get disappointed if you are going with a lot of expectations like other historical buildings in Delhi. There is a single monument that you can explore in an hour easily.

There is no parking in this place. Though there is ample space for parking in the nearby lane, it is a trap set up by traffic police. Once you park your car there, within minutes a towing vehicle will come and lock the wheel of your car or lift your two-wheeler and issue a parking chalan. If you plan to visit this place, never take your own vehicle, rather use public transport.

One of the rare peaceful places to visit in delhi. I wanted to visit this place after i saw its scene in PK movie where aamir was sitting by himself in one scene. The step well architecture and the place vibe is totally worth it. Best part is that it can be visited in summers as well as it is covered from all sides and is comparitively cooler.

The hidden gem of Central Delhi. Must not miss this place when you visiting Delhi. 15-30min is ideal time to spend there. It’s small, quint historial step well. One can go there sit for a while, pondering upon the rich history of Mughal Era. Try not to go during weekend. It’s too crowded.

Very beautifully built by King Agrasen or Ugrasen, a piece of architecture. Though a deep well or the water reservoir, it was used to supply and fulfill the water requirements in need. Many Bollywood movies have been shot here. It's a hangout place for tourists as well as the youngsters. Only a drawback, it is poorly maintained and the place & water is not cleaned. It has also been made infamous as a haunted place.

Agrasen ki Baoli (also known as Ugrasen ki Baodi), designated a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958, is a 60-meter long and 15-meter wide historical step well on Hailey Road, near Connaught Place, Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, India. Although there are no known historical records to prove who built Agrasen ki Baoli, it is believed that it was originally built by the legendary king Agrasen, and the present architecture hints at it being rebuilt in the 14th century during the Tughlag period of Delhi Sultanate. The Baoli is open daily from 9 AM to 5:30 PM.

Agrasen ki Baoli was an old well made to harvest and store water during the Mughal and Lodhi era. However, now it is quite a popular place among Delhiites and is famous for photography, photoshoots and picnics. Various popular movies like PK and Sultan were shot here. The place is often crowded yet naturally cool. Entry is also free and no tickets are required.

But the site is quite simple, basically it is just the one chamber leading down to a disgustingly dirty pool of water at the bottom, and it is roped off so you can only go past way down. So what you see in the pictures is all that's there.

This is such a stark contrast with its surroundings. This old historical construction completely surrounded by new construction’s. They new buildings and houses have come up till the very limit of the main structure. It is still in a pretty decent state even after so long, I spent a good hour here just taking it in and imagining the time when it was probably one of the most important place in the day to day life of the people around . Truly marvellous engineering by our ancestors in designing and building this structure. It was a peaceful place to spend time in, I had gone there on a weekday so it wasn’t that crowded and was able to take some nice pics . I would definitely recommend people to visit it as it is very much worthwhile use of time.

This place is best tourist attraction. Anyone can reach here, it’s 5 min away from metro station. There is no entry fee. This place is famous for horrible stories (ghost, suicide attempts). Best place to explore in Delhi. This place is historical and daily lots of tourists visit to see architecture of this unique place.

Ugrasen ki Baoli is like a hidden gem in Delhi. It's not just a stepwell; it's a cool place with a touch of mystery. When you go down the steps, you'll feel a bit like an explorer. The old architecture and the way the steps go deep into the ground make it a bit spooky but exciting. The Baoli itself is a big well with water at the bottom – simple yet kind of magical. It's a peaceful spot in the middle of the city, a break from the hustle. People go there to chill, take pictures, or just enjoy the quiet. Remember those scenes from movies where characters discover secret places? Ugrasen ki Baoli is like that, a real-life adventure waiting to be explored. It's not a fancy place, but its simplicity and historical vibe make it worth a visit, especially if you like places that tell stories from the past.

Looking for some best Architectural photo view with your loved one ? Ugrasen Ki Baoli is the place! It is basically a steepwell!!⛲ Looks excellent for couple photoshoots!📸 Nothing else is there inside. Sit on the stairs, chitchat, take photos or reels or both and out!🎥💏 Do not park your vehicle outside!! The time you come back after visiting the place, it would have been locked by the Police.🚔🚨👮‍♀️ Park somewhere on the main road.🚗❌ You can find some icecream stalls outside.🍦 No Wheelchair accessible entry ❌♿

#Nearest metro station: Janpath(violet line) #No entry charges #the few clips of movie "pk" and "sultan" shot here. #Fun fact: there are rumours that this place is haunted. Agrasen ki Baoli, a medieval step well in New Delhi, known for its haunted tales, was built by Maharaja Ugrasen in the 14th Century CE. Despite legends of its hypnotic black water leading to suicides, the shallow depth challenges such claims. The Baoli, frequented by tourists and students, offers an eerie ambiance. While the Archaeological Survey of India has preserved the site, cleanliness issues persist, urging a call for government intervention in maintaining cultural heritage.

It's used as a water source in the past. Monument is good, worth your visit in your free time in Delhi. But no proper parking facility. Be careful while parking infront of it, it's a tow away zone.

Agrasen ki Baoli (also known as Ugrasen ki Baodi), designated a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958, is a 60-meter long and 15-meter wide historical step well on Hailey Road,[1] near Connaught Place, Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, India.[2] Although there are no known historical records to prove who built Agrasen ki Baoli, it is believed that it was originally built by the legendary king Agrasen,[3] and the present architecture hints at it being rebuilt in the 14th century during the Tughlag period of Delhi Sultanate. The Baoli is open daily from 9 AM to 5:30 PM. ARCHITECTURE ~ This Baoli, with 108 steps, is among a few of its kind in Delhi. The visible parts of this historical step well consist of three levels. Each level is lined with arched niches on both sides.

This place is very interesting, gives a glimpse of Indian Medieval past. This place is also very romantic and photogenic. A tip to couples, dont take auto rikshaw or any car, just have a long walk from Mandi House Metro Station, set the google map location , cross the beautifull pedestrians of the Firoz Shah Road and make some designs with the chalks in the blocks of the foot path as the place also gives you a chance to discover your own creativity. We can cross Lalit Kala Academy , Sahitya Academy, ICHR and Russian Centre etc. Cross the Kasturba Gandhi Marg , tada! its Agrasen Ki Baoli in front of you !

An experience of History amongst the routine. If you are at Connaught Place then why not break the monotony by doing something unusual? This is an ideal spot to take in the architectural marvel of the stepwells of the time and soak in a bit of history to calm your nerves. I personally liked the vibe of this place. It soothed my nerves and I would love to visit this place again when I'm at CP.

Delhi is a city with innumerable heritage structures that are the reminders of a great past. In such a historical city, one has a lot to explore. There is one such mystical place located within the city, yet far from the bustle of city life! It is none other than the ancient stepwell Agrasen Ki Baoli. One would get startled by its haunting beauty and rustic charm. The deeper you go, the far you are from the outside world. Agrasen ki baoli is a protected monument and one of the must visit places in India. It is said to be a haunted place but experiences differ from person to person. However, its beguiling architecture silently calls for our attention. Agrasen Ki Baoli is not just an ancient stepwell but there are much more interesting things to know about it. So, here we are listing out some absorbing facts about Agrasen Ki Baoli which will leave you spellbound! It is said that the King Agrasen lived during the time of Mahabharat and the stepwell was built during this time. However, they haven't found any proper evidence to prove this theory. Historical records say that Agrasen Ki Baoli was rebuilt over the old stepwell by the rich Agarwal Community, who are said to be the descendants of Maharaja Agrasen. So, today's structure belongs to the 14th century during the rule of Tuglaqs in Delhi. Agrasen ki Baoli is definitely an architectural marvel. It has three stories and 108 steps which goes down to the well. Agrasen Ki Baoli also has a resemblance to the baolis or baodis (stepwells) in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

No doubt it's a good place to visit in delhi but in covid 19 some civil defence staff taking advantage of this ....they click the pictures of visitors without there concent and harrase the visitors and specially couple by imposing 2000₹ penalty of without mask Firstly, civil defence is a contractor staff and no where they are allow to penalize any person Secondly, they are clicking pictures of visitors (male+females) without there concent..that it self is a crime It's my request to the concern department to kindly look into the matter and stop this nonsense..

After it gained popularity with Raju Hirani’s film PK, this Baoli has become one of the most visited places in India and not to mention it is a protected monument. This 3 storied and 108 stepped Baoli is said to be built around 14the century during the time of Mahabharata as King Argasen was alive at that time and there was the rule of Tuglaqs in Delhi. Even though this is almost a relic yet it still serves its true purpose and at times lower level of this Baoli is submerged in water. This entire structure is spread in 15 meters and is 60 meters long on Hailey Road and is managed by Archeological Survey of India. It is well hidden in the urban landscape of Connaught place, and its historic backdrop provides a great background for film shootings. Along with PK, Sultan, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Shubh Mangal Savdhan have also been shot here.

Agrasen ki Baoli is an early morning delight, as the pigeons flock into the air, with a flutter of their wings, waking one up to the historical beauty of the place. Attributed to Maharaja Agrasen, founder of the Agarwal clan( trading community), it was a stepwell, very clean in its time. Restoring the baoli is impossible in this day and age due to the intricate pipe system below it for the sprawling metropolis of Delhi. However, it continues to attract tourists and is an ideal for an early morning jaunt.

Absolutely beautiful architecture with intricate design, it was built by King Urgasen and the Baoli means Stepwell and it was built to store water. It belongs to the period of Lodhi and Tughlaqs. If you are in the vicinity, do visit this place it won't take much of your time.

  • 4/5 Priyanshu V. 2 years ago on Google
Place is just okay , but for photographers this place is a boon. You can compose your pictures well. The birds make the very good and greenery of this place is just remarkable. But Tripods are not allowed in this place the officials told me that you can only click pictures and you are not supposed or allowed to click and shoot videos here. The place has limited resources in terms of eating , you will find one or two momos shops , one or two guthka and cigarette shops which I will never recommend you because these things are very harmful to our health. If you're visiting India Gate I will say surely just take an auto from there and visit this place once , the auto driver will charge 20 rupees per person.

Lovely landmark of historical significance hidden in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Delhi. Can get crowded at times but a week day is the best to avoid the crowds. Good opportunities for photography though taking images can be a challenge with folks jostling for space! However folks are pretty ok and with a bit of patience and you will get the shot you want!

This is famous for shooting spots. It is one the most oldest and historical well built by the king ugrasen. It is very technically and engineered perfectly to store the water without even any vaporization during the summer times.this spot you can be very much familiar in movies like sultan and other srk movies....If you want to visit and spend around 30mins to a place, you can just visit here.

Pleasant spot and there are tight roads prompting it, which are utilized by washerman. However popular and it has come up in numerous Bollywood films. It isn't kept up with pleasantly yet part of individuals stay with this spot. As it was a piece of my schedule trail I visited it and should concede that it is an exceptionally quiet spot and we can invest parcel of energy here in all out harmony.

It's a beautiful step well right in the middle of modern architecture. Best time to visit in the morning. 15 mins are good enough to spend here.

  • 4/5 Madhulika L. 5 months ago on Google
This step-well is named after Raja Ugrasena/Agrawal of the Sisodia clan, who is believed to be the forefather of the Agrawal community. He is supposed to have built, though the architecture of the place is more indicative of Tughlaq/Lodhi architecture. Just over a hundred steps, spread across three levels, lead down to the water (now stagnant and filthy); rows of arched cells line both sides of the baoil. No entry fees are charged, and since the baoli has been used as a setting in several popular Hindi films, it's become very popular among Delhi visitors. Go on a weekday, or if you must go on a weekend, try visiting well before noon to avoid the crowds.

One of the most unknown and unexplored monument in Delhi, including our history as they still don't know who has created this. It does not take much time to visit, enjoy a peaceful and romantic atmosphere here condition applied tourist footprint. No ticket, free entry. Reduced one star only for the water clogged in the downstairs which could be cleaned regularly. Also the monument surrounded by tall apartments make the site bit uncomfortable.

Located on Hailey Road, near Connaught Place, Jantar Mantar, it was designated a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958. It is an absolute must visit structure from that era. There is no dedicated parking space but you can easily go by an auto rickshaw. It is safe to take kids there but one has to make sure they are looked after.

Agrasen ki Baoli is a must-visit spot near CP. It’s conveniently accessible by a 15-minute walk, so avoid taxis or autos. The historical significance and ambiance are captivating. However, the water in the baoli isn’t clean or nearby, which might disappoint some visitors. Despite this, its proximity and historical charm make it a worthwhile visit if you’re in the area.

It's a good place to visit at least once. I thought it would have a big area to roam around but it has only the baoli area and stairs which are only the point to sit. I'll suggest going in the rain.
