I end up at this restaurant due to a friend of mine and I will always thank her for introducing such a gem to me. The place is cute and cozy, the staff is friendly and supportive. It is first come first service so, try to reach early to avoid any waiting. Ordered Dosas, idli and Vada and they were amazing. Sambhar was so light and chutneys are tongue twisting. Price is decent as per the quality. In short, it was amazing place to grab some South Indian food.

We ordered the below items Neer dosa, akki roti, bombat dosa, manina maga dosa Everything was delicious and served promptly. Neer dosa was soft and thin. Bombat dosa was crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside with a spicy spread inside. Their chutneys are really amazing and one of the best so far. Only manina maga was a bit of a let down. It was spicy and wasn't so flavorful. Kokum and thampi soda were refreshing. Service was fast with only 10 minutes wait for a table

The South Indian restaurant to try out in New Delhi’s Meharchand Market, near to Lodhi Colony. Good vibes and resourceful staff. The interiors are a delight to the eyes, and the cafe offers a peasant view of the road - being located at the T-point from one of the linking roads of Lodhi Colony. The slow music is another treat for the ears. The food is yum, although can be lesser oily for dosa and vada. The liked the concept of keeping copper glasses for water and liked the filter coffee here. Parking is available for 2-3 cars outside on a usual day. A nice choice for family outings and meet-ups with a small group (3-4) of friends. Overall a great experience worth recommending to Delhiites.

Lovely food. Crispy dosas. Very expensive filter coffee of 110. Beverages should be fairly priced. Other than that, lovely service and they are professional enough to remove service charge if asked.

Top notch food. Awesome timely service - someone is always watching for you. A bit small but clean space. The chutneys are superb and sambhar was great too. Idli and vada were awesome. Malleswaram 5th cross dosa was amazing - nice spicy and crusty. Lentil fried balls were also yummy.

Delicious food - especially the malleswaram dosa.. Their filter coffee is better than most South Indian cuisine restaurants. However, food here in general is full of ghee / butter, so it's not a place to eat in frequently.

Quite surprisingly better than most of the South Indian Restaurant outlets in Delhi. The food is prepared in ghee which added its own aroma and flavour. The sitting was neat and tidy with typical fragrance around. The menu is quite simple and of 2 pages only which don't confuse one. One must definitely try Malleshwaram Dosa, Dahi Vada, Thatte Idli I would recommend the place to dine with family and friends.

Amazing Karnataka Style Vegetarian food available! Loved their Filter coffee. We tried: 1. Thatte Idli 2. Paddu 3. Malleswaram 18th Cross Dosa Everything tasted fresh and delectable and were served with a dollop of fresh white butter (except paddu). Would definitely revisit. However, prices could be reconsidered and brought down a bit given an additional 10% service charge (optional) is already being levied.

Nice cafe with wonderful ambience and relaxed vibes that serves traditional South Indian food. Has a wide range of dosas and local South Indian cuisines that are usually not served by other South Indian restaurants. Their Mysore masala dosa, Bombat dosa , appa and Kokum are highly recommended. Slightly expensive and there is a wait time as well, but the food and the experience are totally worth it. The service is quick and the staff will help you with recommendations. Also, wanted to try their indigenous flavoured ice-creams that were being served in coconut shells and looked very fascinating, but was too full from the main course to even think of desserts. So may be next time:) Must visit and very highly recommended. Looking forward to visit again soon!

Close to authentic. This place has that south indian aura. The moment I entered, I was greated with a pleasant fragrance of mogra which immediately took me to chennai(where I spent a substantial amount of time). The food was just awesome. We ordered two types of dosas and a thali which was okay. Raagi masala dosa: 4/5 Malleshwaram 18th cross(their best seller): 4/5 Patrawali oota:2/5 Filter coffe:4/5 Must visit place to go.

Carnatic Cafe is a completely South Indian Delicacy resturant. They are specialised in Various Varieties of Tasty Dosa, Idlis etc. Their dosas are just next level amazing. There dosas have very different prepration and taste. I just love their Ragi Dosa and Malleshwaram 18th cross Dosa. Today we have ordered Rawa Plain Dosa and Malleshwaram Dosa. Both were amazing in taste. Sambhar is amazing. All the three chutneys they serve are amazing. The interiors are calming and their service is very prompt. Price wise this place is totally value for money. Do try their amazing menu

Things I didn't like- 1) No temperature check by management upon entry 2) Sanitiser not provided for guests coming in. 3) All seats were occupied by the time we finished including the one next to us barely one feet away. 4) Staff served us one dish after the other but didn't want to clear away the dirty dishes, had to ask them twice. 5) A service charge of 10% was included into our bill without permission. Things I liked- 1) Very soothing design with the use of many natural elements like the rice husk chandeliers. 2) Food is of exceptional quality and made of good raw materials. 3) Everything was served within minutes of having ordered it. 4) Definitely this as close to Bangalore food you can come to in Delhi.

Authentic Karnataka meals...Had a thali. Yummy. Rice was too good. Flavours and aroma in abundance...Remember this is traditional Karnatak food...If you are looking to typical Delhi South Indian meals, you will notice a remarkable difference.

Small restaurant at Mehar chand market, Lodhi road. Decent interior, limited seating and good ambience. Authentic south indian restaurant with decent prices, presentation of food is good. Item like, Masala Dosa, paper masala, idli, wada and rasam and amazingly good. I personally ordered Mysore masala dosa and it was not good at all moreover it took them a decent period of time to make, horrible dosa. As per pricing and overall it's ok to give them a try.

It is a nice South Indian restaurant which serves some unique dosas. We tried Malleshwaram 18th cross dosa, Bombat dosa and Manina Maga dosa. All were good but I found the Bombat dosa to be best of them. The filter coffee is also great and a must try. The restaurant has a nice vibe to it. There can be a waiting time depending on the day and time. 3 people can have there meals with 1000 INR.

Ordered filter coffee and specifically asked to received them first and food after that, on the contrary the food and filter coffee came together. Now we are eating food and sipping coffee at the same time and it was purely silly on their part. We had ordered two dosa and the both the dosa was very small and the sambar was served in a tiny bowl with half spoon chutney. After eating the food I was still VERY hungry and we paid so much four a south Indian lunch only to again eat chole bhatoore again outside which was better and more filling than their below average South Indian cuisine. Will never visit it again.

This is one of the best places in Delhi to have South Indian cuisine. You have a variety of Dosas to choose from, and much more. We had Malleshwaram dosa, Paddu, Ghee Roast Masala Dosa, Filter Coffee and Palm Jaggery Ice cream. Malleshwaram dosa is one of the best, it tastes somewhat like Ghee Karam Dosa which you can find in South India, full of spices and ghee. Although, the service wasn't up to the mark. The waiter took our order more than once on 2 separate occasions which is not a good customer experience. Overall, it's a must visit place, absolutely loved the food taste (especially if you love somewhat heavy food).

I have been living in Bangalore for the last 10 years and was visiting Delhi for a few days when a friend suggested we go here and this was the most delicious Dosa and the fluffiest Idli I've ever had. Even better than Rameshwaram Cafe which is all the rage right now in Bangalore. The wait time on a Saturday morning was 30-35 mins but it was totes worth it. The place is a bit cramped and weirdly lit but the food makes up for everything.

  • 5/5 Pradeep Peter M. 3 months ago on Google • 72 reviews New
The variety of dosas and quality is really superior. The dosas here are thicker/fluffier than usual South Indian restaurants in Delhi. Felt more authentic to Karnataka. Bombat dosa was really good. Filter kaapi is a must. There is always a queue outside the restaurant, so expect 10-20 mins waiting as there is no advance booking.

Pretty decent joint for some dosa and rasam. If you're not sure what to have, go for their Specialty Dosa like the Malleshwaram 18th Cross. Limited seating in a closed space where social distancing was not the best. Wasn't sure if they were cleaning/disinfecting the tables between guests either. So I wouldn't recommend it during these times but do give it a go (dine-in) in better times. Street parking is available.

While I stayed in Taj, I was supposed to go to the restaurant their called " Capital Kitchen". However it was during the same days where they had their own programme hence the restaurant was fully occupied. The generosity of the property and customer centric mind of "Anju" who managed to get us seated there in "Masala Art". Like it is said in Hindi "Dane Dane pe Likha hai Khane wale Ka naam" meaning "every single grain has the name engraved of a person who will eat that". We were destined to eat in "Masala Art" hence we couldn't I guess eat at "Capital Kitchen" but got to experience great customer service and the meal there at "Masala Art". Management team is requested to say a "Thank You" from me and my sister "Susan" to all the staff present at "Masala Art" on 11th April (between 0930am - 11am) for taking care of us and making us feel valued by their personalised service serving delicacies. The interior is amazing. The food is great. They serve best south Indian food in Town! Do visit if you want to try authentic and different varieties of Dosas. We had Malleshwaram Dosa which is their signature dish(fluffy from inside and crispy from outside with gun powder and peanut paste) Manina Maga Dosa was nice too which had peanut chutney paste and was open flat dosa and last was Mysore Masala Dosa which had garlic flavour. To end our meal we ordered Filter coffee which was strong and regular like any other outlet.

Even if this wasn’t the best South Indian food I’ve ever had, it surely comes extremely close. Addressing the Elephant in the room; yes the Malleshwaram 18th Cross Dosa lives up to the hype. It is crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside. It definitely feels unlike any Dosa I had before. The paddu was a surprise winner too. It genuinely felt great with again the external crispiness and the softness on the inside. Their Chutneys and Sambhar were also top-notch. Filter coffee was a mandatory thing for me and it didn’t disappoint. The place is run efficiently but can be busy at most times. Highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you’re in Delhi and want to have some great South Indian food.

Went to this place after so much hype. So is the hype worth it? For me, I didn’t find anything unique but yes it’s a decent restaurant to visit. This restaurant is crafted to give South Indian vibes. The menu is crisp with typical names but staff will be there to guide you through. The food was presented in a simple way nothing fancy. We had Tomato Onion Chilli Uthapam, Mysore Masala Dosa and a Filter Coffee. For me personally, Uthapam was amazing but the dosa was not on par with the former. The coffee was amazing!! The staff was attentive, professional and well dressed. To sum up, the menu was crisp, the ambience was simple and the food was nice. Also during peak hours, the restaurant is jam packed, so brace yourself for long queues vis-à-vis waiting period. My overall experience with the restaurant was good. Will definitely visit again to taste more.

This place was a great find amongst the rather quiet Meharchand Market right behind the India Habitat Center. I have been a regular to their M-Block GK2 outlet but this one was way above thag in its hospitality, ambience and lighting. We took their fresh juice, filter coffee, Bombay and the thattey idlis and nothing let us down. We came out with a stomach full of delicious flavors yet not a hole in our pockets. Highly recommended.

Ordered a number of dishes from the specials. Sambar was too sweet filled with tomatoes. The dosas were thick, soggy and gooey. The three chutneys lacked taste, coconut chutney was par other lesser known restaurants catering to Carnatic cusines. Food otherwise looks amazing and aesthetically placed.

  • 4/5 Varun W. 3 years ago on Google
Tried their Rawa Onion Masala Dosa which was very good, Dahi Vada was also good and their natural Ice Creams especially Mango and Coconut were outstanding. Their Sambar could have been better.. but overall it was a great experience.

First things first: 1. No wheelchair accessible entrance. 2. Temperature check was not done. The place serves super good south Indian food. I ordered Bombat dosa out of their carnatic special dosas and it cost me INR 205. Although it's a little costly but the quality was great. Chutney served along with it were great. Also, filter coffee was good and cost me INR 95. Although place is a little costly but the food is great. Also, washroom was clean. They levy 10 percent service charge on the order which is optional. So if you want, you can get it removed from the bill

I often used to visit Bengaluru in my college days. My friends there used to take me to local food places which were very famous. Malleshwaram street 'benne podi dosai'- butter podi dosai was something I loved hogging. The moment my colleague introduced me to this place, the menu helped me to resist my B'lore days. The orange juice was simply natural and irrestible. The deco was pretty cool. Usage of rice husk was made for interior decoration. The basin was made of clay and not ceramic or steel or, etc. For me, food and aesthetic go parallel. Loved the place. Gonna come back with my dravidian partner.

Totally different from Taj hospitality! First time ever i was disappointed by Taj! I have always been a big fan of Taj hospitality and choose to stay in taj hotels wherever I go. We are also Taj inner circle members since we have always loved their services. But our dinner yesterday night at Masala Art was totally opposite. Non accommodating, unfriendly staff. It was as if customer did not matter to them at all. We reached later than our reservation time but the staff refused to give us tables even though there were a few tables available. We had wait for quite some time to get a table. Next we asked for water, and when we wanted to place an order meanwhile, the senior staff insisted that he will only take an order once water comes and then disappeared. No napkin was served. And the look of the staff when we said we wanted to use gourmet was epic!! End of the meal, no mouth freshener! We had to ask them for it! Overall very very unlike Taj or even a luxury hotel dinner. Disappointed And. That too for taj members!!

It was an experience lifetime. Though we late to enter into the Resturant. We were served very very tasty food. We ordered Bombay Tiffin. As the name was unique at a restaurant in Delhi. It was packaged well with a completely fulfilling three course meal. One tiffin can easily serve to two person. We could not finish one each.

Returned to the place after 8 years for a special occasion but almost everything has changed for worse. to begin with the restaurant was cold and despite requesting for switching on some warmer, the place continued to be uncomfortabely cold. next rude shock was the menu and almost all signature dishes we relished the last time were missing. the most crashing thing was the food and nothing seemed to be going for the chef with bland chicken (that was supposed to be extra spicy according to the waiter) and cold breads. to top it all was the price which wasnt a shock as it's the five star we hv dined before as well. but in contrast to the Bukhara next door I think it's a far underwhelming choice if you are looking for fine dining. not what we expect from the taj specially being an inner circle member

We have been loyal customers to Taj Palace for more than 20 years. I feel sad that I have to write this review. I am writing this review at urging of a rude employee at Masala Art named Prakash Bhatt. For morning buffet, I decided to get 12 ounces of Almond Milk for my protein shake later. He walks up and says this is not allowed (if it’s the Taj Palace hotel official policy then why is it not posted) I told him I am not a local and that I am taking this for a protein shake later. This person made unpleasant faces and kept saying it’s not allowed. I told him considering the prices of the hotel it’s not nice for him to stop me. Instead he challenged to go write about this online and gave me his name Prakash Bhatt. He obviously doesn’t care about the hotel’s reputation and it’s customers.

Amazing joint discovered. Loved the traditional vibes in the interiors. I was fascinated by their lampshades. Their food tasted better than that in Karnataka! Loved how the food was very tasty and yet light on the stomach. The place is overall very clean and hygienic. Their Set Dosa and Malleswaram 8th cross dosa (their speciality) are a must try. Those will definitely keep you full for hours.

I liked the Ambience, its very clean and hygienic. When it comes to food, Masala dosa and rava idli with chutneys were very nice. The only thing that can be improved is sambar. Pocket friendly & Worth a try !

Great option for South Indian. We went to the Lodhi colony branch. Nice cozy rustic ambiance. The service was good and prompt. We tried Masala Dosa and Malleshwaram Cross dosa. Both are highly recommend. They also serve 3 yummy chutneys with the dosa. The dosas are cooked with large amount of butter and you can mention them if you want a crispy dosa or a softer one. The idli also looked tempting and we will try it on our next visit. Along with Dosa we had Filter coffee which was good as well. Overall a nice experience. It's gets really crowded on Weekends so do plan your visit.

The place was hygienic and ambience was soothing, lampshades were having unique traditional look. And its Malleshwaram 8th cross dosa really stood out as per the praises i got frm my friends who suggested to visit Carnatic cafe. It was made in desi ghee and very sumptuous and had capacity to keep you full for long hours.

Good place for some authentic karntaka cuisine. Maleshwaram 18th cross: 4/5 a must have dosa. The last one i had was in the NFC outlet but that shut down. The taste was good but it lacked the crispiness and the huge size of the dosa the last time I had it. This one was filling though. Mustard rice: 4/5 Very interesting taste. As a mysorean, mustard rice isn't very popular in Karnataka. Tiptur Soda: 4/5 Good flavour of curry leaves with classic lemon soda. A must try in my opinion. One thing that i noticed instantly was the quantity has been comprised. But thankfully the quality isn't.

It is now the most consistent and leading restaurant chain when it comes to south indian food in delhi ncr. All the dishes are done really well, except for their upma, which is just on another level. You have to taste it. I'm not a fan of staple south indian food, but i have a huge smile when I'm paying a visit here.

It was totally Different experience to visit this gem place at lodhi road. Small nice decent cafe with best south indian in delhi. If you are true south indian lover and this is MUST MUST VISIT PLACE!! Sooo I have ordered firstly 1) Dahi vada-4/5 which is good enough before startint my meal 2) Malleshwaram 18th cross dosa-5/5 Honestly it deserves to be there signature dosa.. such gheee roasted with perfect blend of spice. 3) manina maga dosa- 4/5 open dosa got confused with uttatam😛. Nice fluffy topped with mixed spices and peanuts masala. 4)bombat dosa-didnt get to taste it soo cannot comment😂😂🙄 5) benne khali dosa-3/5 If you are true butter fan then only go for it cause it full of white butter but i am surely not big fan of butter soo not soo in favour. 6) paper plain-5/5 one of the best crispiest dosa I have ever tasted.😍😍 7)filter coffee- 5/5 do finish your meal with such authentic coffee. 🌟Important note-Please try to reach cafe 20 min before your expected time as it is usually buzy soo waiting is always there and they dont take reservations but luckily I reached on time to get my table reserved.

The food is very good. They serve Authentic South Indian food. Quality and prices are also good and fair. They serve good ice creams in a coconut shell. But due to space crunch we might need to wait for some time in peak hours. Otherwise this place is good to go.

I heard about this place on Instagram. I wanted to try it because of the hype and I thought that it might be overrated but to my surprise, this place is a gem. I ordered Malleshwaram 18th cross dosa because that's one of their specialties and I never had a Dosa like that. It was so amazing and so flavourful that I wanted to order another one but I was full. You can see the ghee dripping and the masala. The condiments were amazing, especially the peanut chutney. I also ordered thatte idli and oh my God! it was the softest idli and the most tasty idli I ever had. Their coffee and Kesari bhat were also worth every penny. You might find waiting but let me tell you, it's worth every second you spend in the line. Definitely going to visit this place soon.

  • 3/5 Preeti T. 6 months ago on Google
The food was very simple, we ordered Maleshwaram Dosa which is a very famous dish there or I thought it was normal, it did not look much special in it, it had lot of spices or ghee added to it.

  • 5/5 Anshu A. 7 months ago on Google
The menu at Carnatic Cafe is a harmonious symphony of traditional South Indian dishes. The dosas were delightfully crisp, while the idlis were soft and fluffy, just as they should be. The sambar had a rich depth of flavor, and the coconut chutney was a refreshing complement to the dishes. The staff at Carnatic Cafe were friendly and attentive, providing helpful suggestions and ensuring a comfortable dining experience. Overall, Carnatic Cafe is a haven for those seeking an authentic taste of South Indian cuisine. Pro Tip: if you are visiting on weekends for breakfast, then be on time as you might have to wait in the queue.

After seeing so many posts on Instagram, thought of visiting there though it was 40mins drive from my home but anything for good food. But the food was big let down. After a wait for an hour we got a table, but the place was not hygienic, there was some weird smell inside the cafe, taps inside the washroom was broken, so couldn’t wash my hands. Then we ordered kokam drink which was ok, was not ice cold. Then we ordered Malleshwaram dosa which was way too buttery, so hard to digest, sambhar served was not hot. Then we ordered Thatte Idli, it’s taste was ok but look at the quantity of chutney they served. No sambhar served with it. You definitely need to ask for chutney and sambhar topUp. Despite having so much waiting, the food preparation and service is too slow.

The Carnatic cafe ( South Indian cafe) is looking amazing and the food is delicious( simple food ) but taste OMG I order very famous maleshwaram dosa I can’t forget the taste! . Restaurant well clean and decent interior . Nice ambiance Nice . Service also good ! place to go with friends and family Vegetarian Friendly, Vegan Options . a must visit guys !

  • 5/5 Harshika J. 3 months ago on Google New
Waiting time can be very long (~30 min) since they don’t allow reservations in advance but the food and service is really good. Some dosas have a different twist to them, like them being slightly thicker than paper thin dosas at other places. All food comes with generous servings of white butter. Thatte idli is a must try - it’s soft as a cloud. Homemade ice creams at Carnatic Cafe come from Jaatre, with flavours such as peppercorn and cardamom, jaggery and roasted sesame etc to name a few and is served in a dry coconut shell. Also, pls don’t skip having south indian filter coffee - that’s a no brainer. You can also dip the ice cream in coffee and have it - table made affogato pretty much!

Carnatic Cafe, a culinary gem, elevates the dosa experience by preparing each one in rich desi ghee. The dosas, generously portioned, are a meal unto themselves, perfectly satisfying for a solo diner. The restaurant's ambiance contributes significantly to the overall appeal, creating a welcoming environment that complements the delightful flavors. The professional and attentive staff further enhance the dining experience, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable visit. With a focus on Karnataka-based dosas, Carnatic Cafe manages to capture the essence of regional cuisine, offering a unique and flavorful menu. Despite the culinary delights, potential patrons should plan their visit strategically, considering the perpetual waiting times due to the cafe's popularity. This, however, is a testament to the establishment's excellence, drawing crowds eager to savor the dosa perfection. In summary, Carnatic Cafe provides a commendable dining experience with its mouthwatering dosas, pleasant ambiance, and top-notch service. While the waiting times may require a bit of planning, the overall quality makes it a must-visit for those seeking an authentic and satisfying culinary journey.

The best dosas I've had in Delhi, hands down. Great ambience. Sometimes, there is a waiting time, but usually you'll get a table almost immediately. Ice-cream is a bit overpriced tho. Carnatic Cafe is definitely the go-to option for South Indian cuisine in Delhi. Other than Carnatic, Juggernaut is also a good option.

😐 It highly needs to upgrade its taste… Went here and ordered North Indian dishes which were just average. Veg cutlets were not properly cooked. Chaap too was average. Masala dosa lacked spicy flavours. Serving time was less and quick. The ambience of the place seemed ok. Overall need an improvement...
