Today I visited Ghalib Academy. Ghalib Academy is situated at Plot No-168 1, near Alami Markaz Banglewali Masjid, Nizamuddin West, New Delhi, Delhi-110013. The academy dedicated to the great Urdu poet (shayar) Mirza Ghalib. The academy has an auditorium, library, museum and art gallery. People from all over the world came here to know about the Mirza Ghalib and his writing and contributions to the literature. People buy here books, journas and magazines on Mirza Ghalib. I also bought some books on Mirza Ghalib. Love to visit again and again.

It's sad that a poet of his stature has been provided memory with so unkempt conditions. There is very little in the museum to understand and know about the great poet that he was. The delhi tourism site says that the academy has a painting of Galib made by M.F. Hussain but it wasn't there when we visited. Apparently the painting was gone for some exhibition but the care taker was not actually aware. It's a shame that such great people's life is buried under carelessness and indifference. People, especially youngsters visit to seek inspiration and return disappointed. Surely the place needs a lot of care.

The building was closed due to COVID. Highly congested area. The smell of mutton keeps walking with you in that narrow lane. You can not drive a car here and no parking area nearby. Leave your car around 250 m away on the roadside, if you are lucky to find a spot. I believe it should be made more accessible and attractive so that more and more people may visit this and learn about him.
