We stayed on a Tues & Wed in early May. A very pleasant surprise. Park is kept very tidy and very clean restrooms. This was a stop on our way back to FL. Since we prefer the quiet and seclusion of state parks we were surprised when we 1st drove in to the proximity to the road and openness of the campground. After a very peaceful night sleep and a little exploring we not only found wooded trails but a fantastic Mexican restaurant just a little more than a mile away in town, also unusual for us to eat out when on a camping trip. Looks like a very busy little park if you are staying on a weekend. Highly recommend.

Relaxed on shores of lake, beautiful places to sit and chill with lovely sceneries. Those who enjoy fishing it is a great spot for them. You may visit the park for fishing, boating, hiking, biking, picnicking, beach, mini golf, boat ramps, shelter, kids play areas and campgrounds. Water in the lake is green due to algae.

The park is very spread out and feels intermixed with private residences.  Campground is in one area and shelters and other day use areas are in another.  There are no trails from the campground,  you have to drive to them.  Because the lake is mostly private lake shore so you can't hike the lakefront. The campground has good shade. Most campsites are small, very close to each other.  There are a few nice roomy spots by the lake but the rest feels very cramped.  Firewood was sold out everywhere in town (DNR doesn't like transporting firewood across the state but when there are no local markets supporting firewood sales, it doesn't help the situation) The hiking trails are a short drive from the campground.   Nice trails but lacks a good trail map or signs.

Camped here many times. Beautiful grounds. Well kept. Paved roadways through grounds. Dark at night, minimal street lights throughout. Lime rock camper spots. Clean bathrooms, heated showers, well light with flushing toliets. Multiple sizes of spots. Biking, walking, fishing, miniature golf(city side). Small town with local grocery store, dinner, dollar general all a short drive away. New hotel in the area with steakhouse. Nice to get back to nature.

We love Blackhawk state park! 1. The bathrooms are nice and clean which makes for a good camping trip 2. The city of Lake View is a great town to be in. It has all the amenities you would want in a small town (small grocery store, gas stations, Dollar General, 2 restaurants, and a delicious coffee shop). 3. The lake is busy but not over crowded. 4. The camping spots are pretty big! Last time we went however we were in a smaller spot so we’ve made note of some larger ones for next time! 5. The campground hosts are so friendly and helpful. Great campground only a few hours outside Omaha.

Lake View state campground is nice to stay. I would give it 5 stars but we have problems with the camp host every time we camp there. We have dogs and they bark a few times when we play with them or if someone walks there dog by our site. Camp host says take your dogs in the camper or stop them from barking. My father in law had his dog bark 1 time and she called the dnr on them. Or we just backed up the camper into the site and had the slip in our truck and she got on us for not having the slip in the post. We just pulled in 5min ago

The park itself is ok. Shower house & bathrooms are disgusting. Cobwebs, grime & insects smothering all surfaces. Lake is good but shallow & needs to be drug to clear debris from hitting the boat prop. Wish the trailheads were connected to the park. You have to go a couple miles over by road to reach the trails on the other side of the slough across the road from the lake. Camping lots are not huge but we made do. The hostess & DNR ruin the entire atmosphere with pettiness. We were told that our cloth beanbags were making too much noise!!! & before we were even unhooked upon arrival, the hostess was scrutinizing our reserve slip like there was a problem. She called DNR to come talk to us but no one ever said what the problem might be that they were making a federal case over. Hard to relax & enjoy yourself when you're waiting for them to pop up again with some new ridiculous complaint. Never once did they offer any assistance or ask if we needed anything. The entire campground was filled with people who wouldn't even greet anyone in passing. Hosts set a rotten atmosphere for everyone.

What can I say that others haven't. It's a sleepy little town with a great little restaurant called Charlie Mae's it's a must for breakfast! The quiet little park is very well maintained I believe my site was 31 it's the best one in the park in my opinion. Modern clean, well lit restrooms and showers stalls with dressing space. There are great playgrounds, trails and views for days.
