Maribel Caves County Park was a beautiful area with quite a few trails to walk. I was able to go with my 69 year old dad, 4 year old, 2 year old, and 6 month old. The trails were well maintained and there were lots of wild raspberries to pick on the side of the paths. I'd say my biggest disappointment was that none of the caves were actually big enough to walk into. There was one that you could get into by crouching, but couldn't go farther back. I would imagine New Hope Cave is walkable, but it's only open one day a month, so we were unable to see that one. I also wish they would have had a sign explaining the history of Maribel Hotel, AKA Hotel Hell. Make sure to look up that like tidbit of fun while there! Overall, we had a beautiful afternoon and spent probably 2 hours there. Wear good shoes!

If you come on the 3rd Sunday of the month tours are offered of the new hope cave. There is a bat colony here. Most of the caves have metal doors sealing them and the open one is a crawl. The park is very clean and has little vandalism as there are cameras. There is a main parking lot with 2 covered pavilions with picnic tables and bathrooms plus an overflow lot. The bluff trail is steep, uneven and narrow in spots. It would be very difficult to make it accessible. If you can do stairs and walk a couple blocks you can get a glimpse of the nicest formations by going down and back up the trail near the tartarus pavilion. The trail by the new hope pavilion leads directly to the ruins of a former hotel and spa where people used to stay to drink and dip in the magnesium rich spring water which you can drink further down the trail. You can see the hotel ruins from the road as well as the trail but, it is on private property so you can't get very close. Some say it's haunted but, it didn't give me that feeling. I was alone for most of my hike and enjoyed the serenity and beauty of the forest the most.

Don't underestimate this park! It is hands down one of the best Manitowoc County has to offer! With many new improvements & features and even more being added, this is a must visit if you live in the area or if you are just on your way through!! !

Wow, what a cool place. If deep forests, mushrooms, lakes, roots and trees and ferns and moss and vines are your thing you will LOVE this place. Oh, and they have caves! Lol unfortunately I couldn't go in any of the caves because I have a bad back and none were tall enough for me to stand in but I looked in them and walked the trail and chatted with a local guy on a bull dozer who knew all the local history and it was a great day!

This Trail is great! There are lots of places to explore and it's wonderful to bring children as it's very easy. Nice river views and wild raspberry abundant. Definitely a must do traik.

Nice area! First time visiting Maribel Caves. We just walked on the cave side of the trail system. Caves are neat but they are tight and very dark. Flashlight recommended, cellphone light works but not quite enough light for this guy. 25-35 stair -staircase to get you down to lower trail. Easy walking on trail. Some caves have some rock crawling to get you to them.

Nice place to hike. Every 3rd Sunday of the month they open the New Hope Cave for free tours. You can give a donation. They sell souvenirs outside of the cave. The tours are well organized. And signs to get there are helpful. There are other caves that are always open that are fun to crawl through if you're brave enough. It's a beautiful place to spend time. Lots of families. There's fun areas to climb a little.

Wonderful little county park in progress! Trail system in progress as is the parking lot, but there is a lot of potential to this great little park. Unique caves and natural setting is fantastic. Very nice new shelter and facilities as well. Dog friendly as seen in picture (brave Corgi navigates her first cave). Excited to see how it develops.

We were lucky to show up on the last day of the big cave tours til May. The small caves were fun to crawl around in. Would recommend gloves, knee pads, and a head lamp. The cave of treasures was the longest and most winding one we went in. We missed a couple though.

Two women and our two dogs stopped unexpectedly for a short hike on our north way to Door County. What a brilliant choice that turned out to be! This park has incredible caves and views. From the nice but natural trails to the photo opportunities, we spent lots of time just enjoying every turn. The hikes can be as long as you want or a short as needed for younger hikers. There are caves to climb into (although we were not cave-brave!) What a wonderful natural spot to spend some time outside. We made the 125-mile drive home afterward and felt it was absolutely worth the trip.

A nice stop that doesn't take too long. The ruins of the hotel are not on the property, but you can see them from the fence line.

It was amazing to catch the guided Hope Cave tour. Always great walk with small kids and teens alike. It can get busy, but you hardly notice it as you walk along. They now have a new playground and picnic tables and a new bathroom with running water.

This place has been on my list for a while. The trails were well kept and manageable. The Caves were easy to access. Just make sure you can hold your breath if you need to use the toilets.

This place is near n dear to my heart! I helped with this cave project for about 3 summers digging and doing photography. Seeing the changes that have been made over the last 20 years or so was quite impressive! Very glad to celebrate a grandsons birthday in a place I hold so dear!

It's always an exciting time; kids love to explore and crawl through some caves. I would appreciate it more if the teenagers wouldn't hot box the caves so families can enjoy them. I had to tell my 7 year old and her friend to turn around so they would come in contact with a smoke filled cave. Selfish little brats.

We went on the 21st of May when they opened the big cave with a guided tour. The man who was selling patches at the entrance told us that we wouldn't get dirty. It was very muddy and dirty.

Updated beautiful trails that allow access to caves, some you can even go in without tour guide. Biking trails, playground area and 2 pavilions. We love to spend our day hiking around the caves and springs then playing at the playground.

Nice county park! Should be almost 5 stars when they're finished with construction. Very nice trails; lots of caves, most get cramped pretty quickly if you venture in. Only downer is that the walk-in cave has very limited access, like a day per month over the spring - fall, like 8 days/ year. The masonry building ruins next door are awesome! They're on private property so you can't get close / access them.
