We recently had some family staying here and we joined them for breakfast one morning. It was lovely! The setting in the beautifully renovated canal house is gorgeous and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the sourdough waffle and the coffee. I haven’t been to one of their social dinners but I would love to try one as they seem like such a unique experience.

Our stay at Kanalhuset was excellent in many ways. We’ve been lucky to stay in some very nice places over the course of our travels, but Kanalhuset rose to the top very quickly. We just loved it! You check in at the bar area which is very chill and welcoming, decorated with colorful style and beauty. The staff is friendly, happy, courteous, and also reflects the style and beauty of the hotel. The apartment/room we had was wonderful and had everything we might have asked for. Oh… and the food was consistently delicious! We had our grandchildren visit for breakfast waffles one day and they now call Kanalhuset the ‘waffle house’. Everyone we met over the week was friendly and helpful. Chrissy, Enna and Sophie were especially warm and kind, helping us find a stroller when one of the kids needed one. Our only regret is to not have had the opportunity to join one of the communal dinners. We will truly miss our visit to Kanalhuset and will insist to stay there on return visits to the city.

Stayed here for 3 days. Very lovely place overall. Location is great, walking distance to transit and to city Center. Staff was friendly. Room was cozy and just what I needed. I also had the social dinner, excellent experience for a solo traveller.

What a wonderful spot! This newly renovated hotel was fantastic. The large "apartments" were ideal for 2 of us visiting our child, a student who was studying in Copenhagen. The extra room was perfect. The hotel was in a perfect location, minutes from the metro, but also a central place to walk all over this wonderful city. The staff were friendly, helpful and so hospitable. They have created a community around this hotel, not just for the guests, but for the neighborhood. We partook in one community meals, met locals and enjoyed a fantastic meal. Would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend to all visiting Copenhagen!

Great dinner - it’s served at long tables where you’re elbow to elbow with your neighbors, but that’s the charm of the place. Very cool way of having dinner, and the food is very good. You dine in a charming hall, in an old Copenhagen canal-house. It’s not for the intimate date night-dinner, but it’s great food and great atmosphere!

Our new favourite hotel I think! Seriously good value for a beautiful hotel; the interiors are unique and stunning, the staff are friendly and accommodating and it’s a nice chilled neighbourhood but still quite central. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the bathrooms are stunning. We found it quiet and peaceful, a very restful stay! We had the breakfast a couple of times which was tasty, good produce and we also did the social dining one evening which I cannot recommend enough. The food was delicious, and plenty especially with us being vegetarian. It was great to chat to locals and travellers and really made our evening. Would recommend the dining experience even if not staying in the hotel as it’s such good value and honestly was our best dinner during our trip (and that’s saying something)! Thanks to all the staff that made our trip so special!

Kanalhuset was a very cozy and different dining experience where it felt surprisingly natural to share food with complete strangers and make new friendships 🙏 Really beautiful location, great service and delicious food. Overall an absolute pleasure and I would definitely revisit. Its a lovely place for a more relaxed and laid back dining experience 🤗❤️

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel and had social dinner one night - this is truly an outstanding place and experience. Interior design and decor is tasteful and inviting. Location was quiet and colorful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had booked a regular room which is below ground level but ended up getting a complimentary upgrade to an apartment. The apartment was above and beyond, but the rooms looked beautiful as well. We’ll definitely be back for a longer stay!

I didn't stay at the hotel but had some amazing smorrebrod with great service in a cozy place. Prices are quite cheap compared to father areas in Copenhagen and the food and the service is excellent. Definitely a place to come back to!

Kanalhuset is truly a hidden gem in Copenhagen! Great location within walking distance from most attractions and close to the subway station if you don't want to walk. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The food is amazing, everything is made of fresh ingredients. Their social dining concept is a great way to meet locals and get new ideas! Loved the concept. And finally the staff!!! They are all excellent! In summary a place with great energy, vibes and coziness! All about Hygge! Our new favorite word!

Stayed here in June 2022 and had a really nice king bedroom and the staff were incredibly helpful. We especially liked the fact that the evening meal is community based, so we were sitting at a table with people from Copenhagen, as well as another group from a diplomatic corp. Very interesting evening! And the food was great! It’s also close to Nordhavn, and can easily be walked around.

Loved it here 20 minute train ride directly from the airport on the Metro. Get off at Christianshavn, straight walk along the canal to the hotel. Quirky hotel in a lovely location next to one of the canals. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby if you don't want to eat and drink in the hotel. We would recommend at least one "social dinner" at the hotel, great opportunity to meet and greet the locals and eat a lovely meal at the same time. Room (12) was a great size and had everything we needed. City centre is within walking distance, or you could hire a bike as the biking infrastructure is excellent. The staff here were very friendly and helpful and lucky for us, spoke perfect English.

Lovely lovely hotel. Staff, amazing especially one person but I don’t remember her name! (Short blonde hair). Loved the room we had in the ‘basement’. Really cool basement.

Very good for smaller company events. Good breakfast and lunch options. Spacious, and nicely furnished. Nicely located close to the very center of Copenhagen, on canals. Helpful staff.

Kanalhuset is just about the most wonderful place you could choose to stay if you enjoy quality food, comfortable atmospheres and endearing people. I visited for the second time- for a total of 12 nights- and came to realize that it is a place that gets ever better with familiarity. Upon hearing that it was my friend’s first international trip, they sent a handwritten letter (thank you, Alma) and bottle of wine up to our room as a welcome/New Year’s gift. Each and every one of the staff members are absolutely lovely- Chris has a killer high kick, and Enna boasts incredible upper body strength. Sif went out of her way to write out a lengthy list of recommendations, and Liné (please excuse my spelling) provided us with a map and the most beautiful of smiles. Julie, Sasha, Maria, Sergaline and Bianc (again, spelling…) are like the sisters you’ve always wanted but never had, Sophie is charismatic and caring, Karl-emil is a best friend to everyone, Bartil (???) will laugh at you if you say his name wrong, Josephine is a hero, and Pi is just adorable. The chefs all have immense pride in their work (I’ve never eaten a single bad thing there, and I’ve never seen a place power hose down the kitchen Every. Single. Day.), and Toon will make you laugh every day if you let him. I’m definitely missing a few people with this list (sorry…) but truly, each and every person there is indescribably lovely. If I lived in Copenhagen, I’d be at the bar every day. If you’re visiting the city, do yourself a favor and choose Kanalhuset! If you’re lucky, you may even run into the owner, who pops in for dinner occasionally. If you meet him, you’ll understand right away why the establishment is as wonderful as it is. Ten out of five stars.

Stayed here 3 years ago. Unfortunately this time there was no availability of rooms, but still we came around for drinks and the atmosphere, service and overall vibe in Kanalhuset are great! Well done for keeping up the high standard!

We had a social Dinner, it is hard to believe that we got this amazing dinner for 150 dkr. Highly recommend. If you are English, might be worth learning how to say hello in Danish as there are a lot of locals and it is just simply a sign of respect.

Kanalhuset is perfect for individuals enjoying a calm, detached place with hand-picked Scandinavian-style furniture and decorations. As a first-time guest on business trip, I was upgraded to an apartment which was superb, but created a kafkaesque notion being on my own in a such large space. The best experience was the community dinner: greeted by the chef and team as a group, seated at a simple wooden table with narrow seating, granny’s china and collection of glasses on display, sharing platters of outstandingly exquisite food with strangers, I had the time of my life meeting new people in Martin and the pair of local Danish friends!

Try to get an appartment on the upper floors..well decorated, spacious and very clean. Rooms are in the basement. Breakfast is home made. Loved the stay. Excellent location for visiting Copenhagen. Metro is a 5 min walk. No need for a car (you may anyway not find a parking spot)

Beautiful, cosy and comfortable rooms, helpful and friendly staff, brilliant location... There's nothing not to like about this place! We only spent a night here on our way to the airport the next day (having travelled elsewhere in Denmark) but staying at the hotel made us wish that we could've extended our stay somehow. It was THAT good!!

Wonderful place to both stay and have meals. The hotel is very enjoyable (especially the bar), the staff helpful and the food great. It's definitely worth trying the social dining in the evening!

We were upgraded to a large semi-basement room, which was very comfortable. Kanalhuset is easy to reach via the Metro M2 to Christianshavn, and then a 4 minute walk. It is located on a beautiful canal, filled with small ships, and is in easy walking distance of central Copenhagen, which is also served by the Metro. You can park in the street, and even though our room had (double glazed) windows onto the street, it was very quite. Even if you don't stay at Kanalhuset, the communal dinner is a uniquely good experience. 50+ people sit at long tables and share a set menu, which changes each night. It is a great way of meeting interesting people, and the food is exceptional. Almost everyone speaks good English.

Outstanding social dinner concept and vibe, which is not something easy to pull off! Quite a room full of people even on a Monday night in mid January. Very friendly staff. Crowd was a mix of locals, solo regional business travelers, only 3 non-Scandinavians out of about 100 which was fun for this American. Food was a good value, only wrinkle our table remarked on was a bit too much salt in the main dish. The available drinks are super and also fairly priced. A great family business to support!

Polite and helpful staff. Beautiful room and ensuite bathroom. Comfortable bed. Food was excellent, had a traditional danish breakfast every morning of our stay. Social dinner experience was also exceptional with plenty of food to go around and reasonably priced. Will definately stay again the next time we go to Copenhagen.

This is the best hotel in Copenhagen hands down. It's beautifully designed yet homey and the staff make you feel like you are SO welcome. The breakfast and coffee are delish (get the waffle for breakfast, and the yogurt and granola) and the family style dinner is a one of a kind experience. We stayed somewhere else the second half of the trip and wished we had stayed here again (we went back twice for a meal and coffee). Beyond all of this, the location is just perfect, right on the canal, not in a super touristy area but walking distance from everything. We cannot wait to go back to Copenhagen and stay here again!

Such a great find. Dinner for 2 in the 17th century Kanalhuset. 150dkk or $30au. So much food too! Very tasty and served with a smile.
