This was my favorite trail. Not easy to find trails like this nearby. It has been closed for over a year now. Are they ever going to reopen this? You can get on the section of trail farther north in Aubrey. However, the 380 section is much prettier.

A great place for a day hike. This trail is especially great for the beginning hiker because it is level and the entire path is gravel. The path includes shaded forests and open prairie. If you are up for a bit more scenery and some uneven terrain, there is also an equestrian trail. Round trip from the access point at FM 455 to FM 428 is approximately 9 miles. At the time of this post the portion of the trail between FM 428 and US 380 is closed.

Went a bit further afield today. Enjoyed being out in the country. It was a good 5 mile walk. Saw a historic bridge from the 1920’s. No shade on the path so glad we were here in January. Wish we could have seen more glimpses of the river.

Similar to the park near the dam this canoe launch has a set of stairs. There is water at the bottom so it could be used but be wary if you have a heavy kayak that getting down and up those stairs can be difficult, especially for those who prefer to drag their boat as little as possible or use a cart. Restroom was clean and very usable and the rest of the park seemed nice.

Needs maintenance. Hasn't recovered from the flooding a few years ago. Trail itself is in ok condition. Facilities need general maintenance and cleaning. Stairs to the river are unstable for launching water craft and the trail is still closed south of the center trailhead down to 380. The day we hiked down here there was a person barefoot, red in the face and wringing his hands asking for a ride and pestering people. Not sure how he got there.

There are plenty of tasks to walk here. The area is very clean. The view isn't overly spectacular, however, it's very nice to have something like this so close to town. Also surprising was how clean the bathrooms are. There aren't many bathrooms, but in both of the ones I visited, the were incredibly clean.

It was a nice peaceful walk. Trail is gravel and there isn't much to look at. So the walk can seem never ending

I typically use the 428 trial head. There are a few picnic tables, not much else. The river is the star of the greenbelt for me. Overall, Good spot for biking, hiking or kayaking away from the hustle and bustle of the DFW metroplex while not requiring a full day outting--about 20 minutes from downtown Denton (square also a great stop when you're done with your outdoor adventure). Trail heads offers lots of parking and restrooms.

Great for gravel riding. You can even do it on road tires as it’s not that chunky.

All the trails except one were closed. I wouldn't even call it a trail, more like a driveway with really tall grass alongside it. It's not maintained at all. The "trail" we took had no shade, no flowers, nothing to climb or sightsee. It just feels like you're walking down a crazy long driveway.

This place was beautiful and half the trees were bare can't wait to visit in the summer. Definitely had a lot of wild life but didn't see anything

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Whether you're "just here for the cult stuff," the history, or the hiking, you really can't lose. As long as you're expecting the graffiti, it's not a bad place to go for a easy hiking trail. It hugs the water. The trail was a lot less secluded than I was expecting. I went on a Tuesday morning a...
