Whether you're "just here for the cult stuff," the history, or the hiking, you really can't lose. As long as you're expecting the graffiti, it's not a bad place to go for a easy hiking trail. It hugs the water. The trail was a lot less secluded than I was expecting. I went on a Tuesday morning and came across several hikers. I wouldn't necessarily bring children to the actual bridge. When I went, the bridge itself had what appeared to be prop blood on it. But if you live in the area, it's a nice little piece of history (and ghost story).

My favorite historical/paranormal mini-stop! The bridge itself is no longer in use as it has been for a long time now, so to access it you must either park in the designated parking zone for the attached trail OR on a nice little corner on the side of the road as I did. Pretty spooky at night (because of the lack of lighting) but very nice during the day time as you can see with the photos I attached! Bonus: as I approached the bridge, someone in a passing car yelled, “DON’T DO IT!” LOL!

Friend told me there’s some paranormal happenings here Got here and skeptically started walking around. The trail didn’t tell me if it was a loop or what. All the “rustling” I read about could definitely be the squadrons of squirrels. I did see something odd across the river. I chalked it up to a deer. A large bulky deer. I just read the reviews about the goat man. Not full convinced but define little wonder some now

This bridge is very cool. Very happy to experience this as an OG buzzfeed Unsolved (now watcher) fan. Seeing Shane's Bridge is amazing. It's very cool to see this historical sight. I will say as much as I love the goofy graffiti, I'm sad that as a historical claimed location they have let it get this decrepit. It would be nice to see it renovated. The natural trails are nice, i was dumb and wore sandals so I got alot of sand and gravel in my sandals lmao. There's very tiny path ways which are cute and fun. The ground on the trails close to the river are soft and squishy. Maybe it just rained over here and that's why? Very glad to have gotten this off my bucket list and maybe I'll come back in the spring to see people swing into the river because at the state the river is in right now I would not jump in lmao.

Excellent for photo taking. Make sure you scout it first so you will know what time of day is best during which season. The sun lines up with the bridge as it sets, at least this fall (2021) when I was there. Bring drinking water and bug spray. I would NOT go in the water. Huge pass! ** The photo I'm sharing has color editing. Pic taken by imagined images.

I love the area but it breaks my heart for the trees and historic bridge to be vandalized in such a way. I wish people would stop doing this. The trails were nice to walk down!

Why?! Who sees a tree and thinks, “Hum, why don’t I tag this?” It’s so sad. I remember going here when I was younger and it was such a pretty walk. Now I don’t get two feet in without seeing profanity and body parts spayed all over the trees. It also smells horrible. Not a place for a nice walk with the family. We walked and and very quickly walked out. Please just let nature be!

Something I’ve wanted to see for about 8 years now and I’m definitely glad I did, was so cool to just see this historical spot after learning so much about it for so many years, much respects to the Goatman and may his soul rest forever 🙏

This old bridge definitely has its own urban legends, but is also a wonderful place to take a stroll. It has a two mile long hiking trail and several other trails. We saw a few families taking their family photos there. Whether it's a walk with your dog or trying to catch a glimpse of the goatman at night by knocking 3 times on the bridge it's a great place to stop by.

I guess it depends on what you came here for. Bringing kids isn't really the best idea. There is a lot of trash but the bridge and trail are halfway decent to look at. If you wanted to see the piece of history then we say 3/5.

I was finally able to check this location off my bucket list. The Goatmans bridge is historic and trendy. It's easy to get to and free. I didn't notice anything unsual as what was witnessed and observed by countless other (like on Ghost Adventures). The beauty of this bridge is unmistakable. This is definitely a "must see" if in or around Denton, Texas.

Took my granddaughter this past weekend as she is into ghost/haunted stuff. I took this photo when we first went onto the bridge and did not realize the weird shadows until I was leaving. Strange… beautiful hiking trails as well with limited parking.

Horrible story behind the sweet old goatman & his family, terrorized by KKK b4 they killed him. Spent several hours here 1 night. Very heavy vibe that wouldn’t go away hit two of us at the end of the bridge closest to the old Homestead Weird stuff happened but nothing terrifying. Maybe Goatman knew I was an empathetic soul. Got lots of activity a few yards away from the bridge in the woods. Also, our instruments reacted to extremes around the semi circle bench area. We were there back before so much graffiti “littered” each structure. It was quiet & unspoiled. If you take a dog with you keep them on a leash. Make sure you go to the true original old Bridge, off the beaten path of the Alton Highway. The highway is busy with traffic, but goat man’s bridge has none. The woods offer a nice walk and at the fork in the road you want to go left.

I love hiking and love old bridges even more. Great mostly shaded trail with a couple water crossings. You can tell a good effort is made to keep this area clean. The lore surrounding this area is devastatingly tragic.

Was in the area, so checked it out. It was the middle of the day and 102, didn't see the goatman or anything out of the ordinary. It's just a 2 minute walk from the parking lot, so very accessible.

Strange historical bridge. I heard "city legend" about ghost here. But in real life was a lot of garbage near car parking

Beautiful walking trails along Hickory Creek. If you stay late you just might get to meet The Goat Man!

Good place to go and enjoy being outside. Maybe make sure that it hasn't rained in the recent days (water level, mud, snakes...) But none the less it has really easy parking and offers just a quick and somewhat private location to be outdoors. Also it is perfect for anytime of the year. If it is extremely hot then you'll see the trees will keep it much cooler.

I had a great time getting some photos. While I'm not super hyped about all the graffiti, it's still a beautiful place for a walk.

Gorgeous nature trails and definitely a little spooky. The trails have been worn away so much by people going off the main trails that I got lost and had trouble finding my car but otherwise everything is just as it was visiting my whole life. Great photography location

Lots of trash and graffiti in and around the parking area.. Otherwise conveniently close to town(s), and the bridge itself is nice. The nearby trails make for gentle wooded hikes.

Old Alton Bridge, also known as Goatman's Bridge, is a historic iron truss bridge connecting the Texas cities of Denton and Copper Canyon. Built in 1884 by the King Iron Bridge Manufacturing Company, it originally carried horses and later automobiles over Hickory Creek at a location that once was a popular ford for crossing cattle. The bridge takes its name from the abandoned community of Alton, which between 1850 and 1856 was the seat of Denton County.[2] This bridge is the subject of several ghostlore stories featuring a vengeful ghost.

Had a very good experience with the foundation ouji board across the street.. You'll need 40 twistable flashlights to communicate above each word, letter, and number.. But worth it

I don't know this location but seems to be very beautiful. The haunted stories are probably made up in order to make money or something similar or to make it more known to attract visitors. It's most likely about the money, not about the ghosts (which don't exist), no need to be scared 😊

Not bad. Had my kid's birthday party here. Had a pretty good time and weather was beautiful. Some partygoers got some weird inconsistent sunburns. Something to do with the ozone layer at this place. Definitely recommend sun screen! People were very respectful as they walking by. Some walkers joined in in singing happy birthday waving their arms up and down. Overall it was a great time not sure what all the hullabaloo is about

Cool place in Denton to visit for some regional history. Graffiti around the bridge & walk but the city is trying to discourage further destruction. Walk is nice & bridge is in great condition. Wish there was some signage on the history of the bridge & old town of Alton. Would’ve made the historical experience more enriched but so glad the city has kept it in such good condition.

It was awesome! My friends took me here for my birthday and we had a lot of paranormal sightings, the K2 looked like Christmas lights near the split tree. Over all the place was very cool, hope to go again someday.
