Beautiful open-air square for family and friends to hang out. Also many fun bars around with college students and locals mingling.

Surprised by this little place! Loved the feel... employee was helpful and informative! Loved the “off the wall green screen!” Awesome touch. Had many many interactive & informative displays.

Love hanging at the square, has been a place of music, laughter, families, and couples for over 50 years of my life. I include a photo of The Confederate Soldier, because if we erase our past or hide it away (in a museum) we are doomed to repeat our past. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana (1863-1952)

Still a working courthouse for the commissioner's court, the county has made great use of its public space with a variety of displays including a small museum. I understand you can rent out the courthouse for weddings or similar events which would be a nice unique space for such an occasion.

The Denton Square has some unique places to explore, but there are also some pretty uniques people. If you don't want to be exposed to things outside of the norm then this may not be the place to go. Expect to see homelessness, and unique looking and acting people as well!

Some of the exhibits were closed due to repairs from a fire but the building is beautiful and the history very interesting

We've been outside on the square many times and never knew the inside of the courthouse was a museum. We enjoyed all three floors and their artifacts. We ended the tour with a molding clay activity near the children's play store.

Let me preface this comment by saying that I am not a Denton native, having been born in Greeley, Colorado in the 1960s; however, our family moved to Texas so that my father, a college professor could take a job in Houston at the University of Houston; likewise, my entire family moved to north Texas so he could take a position teaching educational foundations at Texas Woman’s University here in Denton. As fate would have it, I attended public schools in Denton, graduating from Denton High School and then turning around and and going to University of N. Texas, graduating Magna cum Laude in 1985. Education has always been stressed in our family as a means of moving up in the world. After graduating from University of Houston with my MBA and Ph.D. in Business Administration, Organizational Behavior - Management, I went overseas to Christchurch, New Zealand, where I contacted the deadly disease meningoccemia septicemia, which turned to gangrene, resulting in quadrilateral amputations. I now am very fortunate to be living in N. Denton, in disabled accessible duplex with the significant amount of assistance from three caregivers, working in shifts. Am so glad we haven’t forgotten Denton’s rich Wild West history and this is preserved and on display downtown, despite the protests of the political Left. I, for one, am quite proud to call the city I love, and where I spent a great portion of childhood home. Cheers, Mark C. Fearing, Ph.D?

This is a must visit area, day or nite. Small town feel. Historic during the day and college town nightlife ie .. Museum, Antiques, clothing, barber shop (the Bearded Lady), dining and music.

Had a great time with kids, they are stroller friendly, the staff was very helpful and inside were a couple of educational and fun exhibits. Lot of yummy restaurants close by.

A short tour, but cool to see this great building from the inside. A few nice exhibits, and the attendant had some interesting info.

🫤 The playground really isn’t suitable for kids ages 1-3. The pavement is out of sticks of some sort. Be very careful if your child runs they are prone to hiring the concrete. I don’t know why would they have this playground on a hillside my child damn near rolled down the hill. It is a clean park id...
