INCREDIBLE FOOD. Everything was cooked perfectly, seasoned amazingly. Best gumbo I've had outside New Orleans. Amazing atmosphere and strong drinks. Great for a date night for a seafood lover! (But my partner had the beef burger and said it was one of the best he's ever had).

Came in for happy hour and was not disappointed. The restaurant itself is long and skinny, with a bar down the middle of the restaurant and tables on the surrounding walls. There is an extensive list of crafted cocktails, several with house made infused liquors. Happy hour (3:30-5:00pm) includes cocktails starting at $6 and some $2 oysters. They offer oysters from both the East and West coasts, with most options available as a half dozen. These are definitely fresh, so be mindful of broken shell pieces when eating!! I found pieces of shells that I picked out of the oyster meat and that is the only reason this review isn’t a 5. The calamari, pictured here, is hands down the best I’ve had in a long time. While I love rings and tentacles, there were so many meaty pieces I initially mistook for French fries because they were so big. The sauce separates the “spicy” piece so you don’t have to fully commit if you’re a wimp like me Our server was great and I did not feel rushed. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and look forward to coming for a full meal.

Deliciousness served here😋. From start to finish, everything was yummy. Lobster Mac and Key lime pie were especially good. If seafood is your thing, here 'ya go. It can get busy, I recommend reservations. Enjoy!

My date and I sat at the bar. We had oysters, then my date had ahi tuna, which I tasted and I had the lobster roll. All were delicious. Now I also had fries and it has been so long since I tasted hot fresh fries. If they get that right, all must be right. We had Spanish red wine which was beyond awesome. The staff was also very attentive and informative. Any negative, no way. Save room for me because I am coming back.

Great seafood spot with a variety of dishes. I tried the wedge salad which was crispy and flavorful. The chowder is a big portion and can easily be shared. And finally the lobster roll! The sauce is on the lighter side which was perfect. It also comes with a side of fries.

Yes go here! This was a fantastic find in downtown Denver! We had the calamari appetizer, mussels in a green curry, and halibut with lentils and salad and I'd recommend them all. We had a comfy booth where we could look out on the street and watch one of the guys shuck oysters.

I've been to this restaurant a couple times and it never dissapoints. The service is fast, always friendly with jokes. The food is fresh, tasty, full of flavours and the vast selection of drinks its over the top. They make the drinks the way they are intended no more ice or trying to save liquour. The Happy Hour is the best time to eat oyster!! 100%Recommend this place if you love seafood <3

Amazing food and great vibe. They have a full range of beers from local breweries. I had the Pilsner, it was amazing. Ordered a crab cake, which was one lump and full of meat, paired very well with the sauce that came with it. Also had the Norwegian salmon which would melt in your mouth. There is free wifi at the place and an accessible restroom. There is outdoor seating too. While the place seemed a little tight for kids. There were families who had kids and we seated at the booth comfortably.

We just went here for the first time for Valentines day. It was absolutely PHENOMENAL. I had the cucumber infused vodka drink and it was incredible, and well priced. Then we got the pre-set Valentine's day menu, and every single thing was amazing. We cleared our plates all four courses, and for just $75 for four courses, it was a wonderful value. For the first course we tried both the cold and the hot oysters. Both were incredible. For the second course we both got the salt and pepper prawns. I had never had prawns and didn't know how I would feel about them, but they were delicious. The entrée was the pan-seared snapper that came with clams and mashed potatoes. The clams, the fish, and the sides were all amazing and cooked perfectly. Finally, we ended the night with a chocolate strawberry cheesecake that had delicious honeycombs as an accent and a lovely strawberry sauce, topped off with a chocolate covered strawberry. I could not have asked for a better Valentine's day meal. Thank you! We will be back to try all of the incredible options on the main menu.

This place was a great choice !!! Here's what was ordered: The Emersum Oysters (6) Calamari Grilled Shrimp Pasta Tuna sliders turned into an entree A side of bacon fat cornbread The oysters were amazing. Everything was amazing really, even our server who convinced me to try the oysters with my fiance who I typically leave them to. Man were they a surprise! Such a good flavor and not chewy!!! The texture was the best part since usually it throws me off The calamari was great. I typically eat calamari plain without any sauce because I enjoy the main flavor, but the sauces were amazing. If you get this, mix the sauces after tasting the two!! The tuna sliders turned entree, as suggested by our waiter, had three of the normal sliders (You typically get two as an appetizer) with fries. It was awesome. Do I have to keep saying everything was awesome? And then the bacon fat cornbread was a excellent side! Butter with it was smooth and sweet! 10/10 food 10/10 service

Wifey took me here for my birthday and WOW! I did not think seafood could be this good in Denver! We had 10/10 service as well as 10/10 food and we happened to go on Wednesday which is 30% off all wines! Our waiters paired us with the perfect wine for our dinner. Amazing oysters, apps, and main courses. Also the chowder is amazing!!

Went on a Friday night and sat at the oyster bar. Service: Great! Quick, friendly and gave us some great suggestions. Food: Oysters were fresh and delicious. Crab cake was one of the best we've had in years, and I loved my gumbo. Both were bursting with flavor! My sister really enjoyed her salad too. Drinks: Generous pours with well balanced flavors. Atmosphere: Hip, clean, classy. Definitely worth a visit.

Came here last night for my birthday dinner and these are some of the most enthusiastic five stars I’ve given! I had been itching to go to this place for months so expectations were high. Jax did not disappoint! They were running a little behind with my reservation so we ended up waiting at the bar- the bar was so nice and the service was so good I told them to give away my table and we stayed. We had the calamari appetizer which was better than any calamari I’ve had. My boyfriend and I shared the Hook platter- everything was delicious right down to the unique flavor of the butter. Our man Fred behind the bar really took care of us and anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask! It was the kind of service that we are even still talking about the next day. Really delicious espresso martinis for dessert! What a fantastic experience. Im definitely planning on coming back for happy hour soon. Thank you Fred and Jax Oyster Bar!

Oh my goodness...best dinner I've ever had! Oysters are so fresh and to die for. The halibut and scallops we're so juicy, perfectly cooked, and mouthwatering from start to finish. Ross was an amazing waiter and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Would go back in a heartbeat!

I had an excellent time here with my significant other. This place is not good for groups greater than 4. They have allot of circular bar seating. The wedge salad was good, the steamed mussels with white wine, garlic, and shallots was fantastic. Paired with delicious baguette toasted bread slice. Avoid the seafood chowder and lobster roll. There are other menu items i wish i got instead to fill up my valuable stomach space. I think i misunderstood the name and thought it was more a tomatoe soup base (choppino)vs cream base. Both of those dishes were disappointingly bland and i wish i tried other menu items instead. But then yet again it could be because i recently ate a whole chunk lobster meat lobster roll in SF, CA.... May be a bit much to expect that in a land bounty state i suppose. Def needed more lemon or something. Too Mayo-y. The sweet potatoes fries was awesome, perfectly crispy outside fluffy inside. I was very impressed with the shuckers skill in shucking the emerson, va (pardon me if i got the og state wrong of this oyster i dont recall exactly). They were so refreshing, smooth, creamy, clean briny finish. Our server recommended the hush puppies and they were delicious with the mustard dipping sauce. Overall: The wedge salad 8/10 White wine garlic shallot steamed muscles 10/10 Hushpuppies 10/10 Seafood chowder 0/10 too bland too need more pepper? No seafood taste Lobster roll 1/10 need more lemon, salt, Pepper, perhaps use kewpie mayo for more tang? Emerson half dozen oysters 10/10 beautiful shucking skill, no shells in the oysters, didnt get sick, delicious tasting had all the fixings options : horseradish, cocktail sauce, lemon wedge, wine shallot vinaigrette.

Great experience! Delicious food. The calamari was probably some of the best I have ever had. Gumbo was delicious and just spicy enough. Server was super friendly and there for everything we needed. Awesome job, Tara!

Delicious variety of oysters and seafood! Also had a reasonably priced drink menu! Make a reservation online before coming. The staff was really friendly and helpful - nice atmosphere inside as well. Had the poke bowl and it was so delicious!

Three of us had dinner there at 8. Place was crowded when we arrived but then tapered off. Started with cocktails—I had the New Fashioned which was nice and smooth. Then we split the “Line” raw seafood platter which was enough food for us but it was definitely helped by two skillets of their corn bread which was excellent. Service was great—clear the server had been doing this for a while. Nice evening and excellent seafood for the middle of the mountains.

Jax is the best oyster and seafood bar I have ever been to. The layout of the restaurant is quaint, cozy giving the sense of stepping back in time. The bartender was absolutely amazing, mixing a custom drink for my wife, explaining dishes off the menu being a really great friendly person, which goes a long way with me. Their house oysters, the Cracker Jax, harvested specially for them are absolutely the best I have ever eaten!! The seared YellowFin was astounding as well, heat spice with a wonderful heat from the mustard aioli. Don’t walk run!! This is the best I’ve eaten yet!!

Tastiest part of my trip to Denver. Blackened catfish with bacon smoked grits and pickled okra is a true delight. Great happy hour here too!
