What a top tier experience. I sat down to eat here after a photo shoot and had the best time of my life. I had an orange mocha and cauliflower chicken and waffles. I like to consider myself a semi professional food critic and wow did this hit my taste buds on this wonderful Monday. I’m very impressed and I’ll be sitting in my hammock daydreaming about the food here for a long time. Flavorful, fantastic service, an excellent experience. 5 stars. Highly recommend.

Fantastic vegetarian/vegan spot with a view of the Capital Building with great atmosphere. I had the BBQ tofu and Mac and cheese wrap with Poutine. Holy Cannoli. The flavors and textures were spot on. Not usually a tofu fan but they nailed it. I wanted to try the whole menu as it sounded delicious! I’ll be back next time I’m in Denver.

Been coming here since 2006. Lots of changes, which is OK, which is part of life. With change should be a little patience. I stopped by recently, third time post-COVID, and sat down with a friend. A fellow came by later to let me know that the rules have changed and that to comply with the city's 5-star something something COVID plan, I would need to wear a mask seated at the table. I wanted to be clear in the procedure, as I haven't been anywhere with this ruleset yet, so I asked clarifying questions. It quickly became clear that asking questions was triggering (no surprise in 2020/21). Perhaps the fellow inferred something in my questions that was not there. I was genuinely curious when I was expected to reapply the face mask - is it while chewing? in between bites? etc. I didn't want to agree to something I didn't completely understand - better for all parties. Other staff seemed more understanding over the confusion/clarification. Who knows. Anyway our interaction was off-putting enough for me to leave. Two cents: times are changing, people are trying to adapt and understand, not everyone is trying to fight. Check your own triggers.

A great spot that we look forward to coming back to again! We were in a rush to go see a show but was looking for a healthy establishment downtown and City O City delivered. We ordered some small and large plates, all of which came out quick and hot. Here’s what we ordered: - Fried Ravioli (nice portion with a very tasty pesto sauce) - Seitan Wings (wasn’t expecting the sponge-like texture, but it was still good. Recommend going with BBQ and Buffalo flavors to change things up) - Teriyaki Sandwich (greasy and a little too salty, but big portions. The more disappointing of the large plates we ordered) - BBQ bowl (wife ordered, said it was alright; cabbage was a little dry but the mustard greens were done nicely) - City O Burger (tasty burger, though a small patty than anticipated. The Mac and Cheese as a side was better than I expected, though you can tell it’s still missing the dairy based hit like the traditional style). Staff was excellent, both attentive and kind. Prices were on par with other restaurants of similar food style and quality. I give the food 4 stars but the personnel and ambiance pushed it to five. Overall, we definitely recommend stopping by City O City. A nice vegan joint that we will be checking out again.

So delicious you’d be hard pressed to know it’s vegan! Had the vegan chicken and waffles which was made with fried cauliflower, insanely good! This place gets busy so would really recommend making a reservation.

First off this is a vegetarian restaurant which we decided to try while in Denver. But with that being said the only thing I liked was the "chicken" and waffles. The cauliflower was coated and fried really well with great flavor. The pizza toppings were good but lacked flavor in the sauce which made it taste very plain. The Philly cheese sandwich was very messy and also lacked flavor. Then top in servers with attitude and lack of service overall and the experience falls apart. Won't be going back

Loved this place! The food tasted awesome and the serving sizes were huge. The staff here are all super nice too - it felt like we had 4 different people come up to talk to us which was really pleasant. On top of all of this, it seems like they treat their workers well - a 20% tip is automatically added on, which makes prices feel a little high but it's worth it knowing you're supporting a good business and good people:)

Actually delicious, super amazing menu and great staff. Try the waffle! Great cappuccino. Yummy sour beer, and excellent spot downtown. I wanna try the whole menu and eat off of others plates here. Very healthy, vegan, veggie loving spot.

An absolute MUST if you’re a vegetarian!! Everything we had was delicious! Our 19 month old devoured the vegan mac and cheese! We ordered the seitan buffalo wings which actually had some crunch AND delicious flavor. The best vegetarian wings I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot! We also got the kebabs and the adobo tacos which were also great!

If you’re in Denver, City O City is a MUST! So of course while visiting Denver (and as vegans) we HAD to visit- and it lived up to the hype!! We came for breakfast & loved the vibe! Funky decor & great staff. What we got: - vegan “chicken” n waffles: wow. Just wow. Best vegan waffle I have ever had! Dense, fluffy, & crispy- the waffle was the best part! Served with crispy cauliflower as the “chicken” part was also great! Batter was flavored perfect! It also comes with dipping sauce & maple syrup. The flavors came together so lovely! - seitan wings: crispy & flavored well with the sauces. They were great! - vegan Mac n cheese: We got this to go & had it later in the day. The sauce was grand & they give you a lot of the sauce to noodle ratio! Wish we were local, otherwise, we’d LIVE a here. Great food with unique combos! Not all dishes are vegan but everything is meat free. The vegan dishes are clearly marked and so are the vegetarian choices. Meat eaters or not- come get this place out for wonderful, home made food! Its the sister location to Watercourse foods (which is all vegan menu) so do check them out as well! I will be forever dreaming of those amazing vegan waffles 🥹🥹🥹🙏🏻

Very pleasant surprisingly and our first time at this place. Vegan cheese was good. Green spicy salsa verda that came with the taquitoes were appreciated by the entire table table. The server was quite nice and recommended other restaurants in boulder. Ice tea was great, London fog was great.

Pretty good! I'm not a vegan or vegetarian but I still enjoyed the food. The ravioli with pesto dipping sauce was delicious and my quinoa bowl was tasty and filling. The staff was friendly and helpful and it wasn't too busy on a late Sunday afternoon (no wait). The ambiance is nice, but a little too cold and industrial for my taste. I wish it were a little cozier.

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere and decorations are great. The food is perfect for veg/vegan/allergy folks. And the service is above & beyond. Highly recommend the vegan poutine.

We loved this place! It had such a great vibe and the staff were so friendly. The food was so good! It is basically vegetarian/vegan comfort food. Definitely a great place to go for the weekend. Make sure to make a reservation as it does get busy.

I understand there are rules to follow but make it clear you can take your mask off at the table. Don't make it seem like you have too take asip and put your mask on. It's a turn down

This is the spot to take anyone who scoffs at good vegetarian/vegan eating. We had 'chicken' and waffles, burger/fries, and fried ravioli. It was all so good: flavorful, rich, satiating. Our server Kara was a delight too. Great vibes, cool artwork and lighting, all the employees seemingly appeared to be enjoying themselves and dress how they prefer, great music playing. We'll be back when we're in Denver.

City O' City is absolutely fantastic! I had the BBQ bowl with seitan and it was incredible. Easily one of the best dishes I've ever had. The atmosphere is great and they have good tunes in the background. All in all this is a great restaurant because of their great food and great staff! I just wish City O' City was in my neighborhood (on the east coast) because I'd be a regular. Update: I went back for take out. Fantastic fried cauliflower and waffles!

Lovely atmosphere! Friendly and very knowledgeable staff! Chicken (cauliflower wings) and waffles with carrot bacon and pizza rolls (added marinara sauce on it before taking pic) was amazing. Visiting from NC and I wish we had one there.

This place is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in the country. They might have the best vegetarian chicken and waffles in the nation. Usually, they are very busy but the food is worth the wait. Plus, they usually have friendly service and a wide menu of beverages to choose from. After returning to this place over the years, it's become a true staple in Denver, CO for me & anyone I bring along the journey. I can't wait to come back again! 5️⃣⭐'s

I am a meat-eater trying to cut back and this place makes it SO easy. I'm addicted to the chicken and waffles which are also miraculously gluten free! The seitan wings and wraps are also excellent, you won't miss the meat at all. We dined here before the pandemic and it has an awesome vibe, but have been getting take-out consistently since (totally worth the drive from south Denver).

Super cool vibes at this vegetarian place. I got the Reuben which was amazing. They also had a nice kombucha on tap. The waitress made us feel like we were old friends. Meat eaters will enjoy it too!

This is an awesome option if you are looking for a plant based restaurant in Denver. I enjoyed the most delicious "chicken" and waffles I've ever had. In addition to being totally vegan, they were able to make this gluten free for me as well (aside from the shared fryer). The atmosphere was neat and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Absolutely loved the ambience, vibes, service and food! There is no parking, so street parking or nearby public parking areas. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Food menu is elaborate and they have good vegan and GF options. Do try their Fried ravioli - i loved the filling inside. The City O' burger was very delicious and it comes with various options for sides. The chicken and waffles and udon noodles were good too. My favourite was the pizza, the crust was amazing. Overall a good experience and highly recommended.

An awesome vegetarian spot that’s worthy of the hype. I tried both the cauliflower chicken and waffles (has a deliciously satisfying crunch) and the Philly cheesesteak (shocked there was no meat in it). The hipster aesthetic screams Denver in the best way. Recommend!

Very "holier than thou" atmosphere. I go here a lot with a group of friends of mine that are vegan and the food is awesome. But I've never felt welcome here. It feels like in order to work there it's required that you have a bad attitude.

We came here last time we were in town in 2016 and loved it. Came today and it was just as good as we remembered. Fun upscale casual atmosphere, great variety in the menu, fair prices, large portions, nice ability to substitute items. Servers were all very kind. Only confusion we had is if the 20% service fee we saw in our receipt was for the tip or was something else.

Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Good ambiance, queer friendly. HOWEVER, the food is extremely hit or miss. First time we went was great. I don’t know if it depends on which cook is working but it was unbearably salty last time we went. The service is also wildly hit or miss. We got stuck in a dark corner - notice the difference in lighting between pics from first time and most recent time. Our waitress (Andrea on the bill) visited us twice in an HOUR - once to take our order then an hour later to get our check. I started timing after the half hour mark because we wanted to leave but couldnt get any service. Can’t recommend coming here when there are so many vegan options in Denver.

We were so impressed we ate here two days in a row while on vacation! The first day we had the breakfast burrito with tofu, cashew ricotta & avocado and the chicken and waffles. The chicken and waffles were sweet and crispy, just a good combination, the only critique was the center of the waffles was a little soft, not gooey or under cooked but just softer than I like my waffles. The Buritto was the bomb though, that Carrot bacon is the best I've had, truly! The next day we shared a pretzel and got another breakfast burrito the same way and the avocado club salad. If I could get that pretzel everyday I probably would so it's good that I can't. The portions are very generous and the prices were reasonable considering how much you get and they also already add in the service fee.

A local friend recommended this spot a while back. I finally got around to visiting and I'M IN LOVE!! As someone who is gluten intolerant (and occasionally adopts the vegetarian / vegan lifestyle), City O' City blew me away. Great prices, incredible variety, amazing service, and a cozy atmosphere. The portions were perfect if not generous. I could hype this place up forever! I got the chicken (cauliflower) and waffles and a mocha on the side. Everything tasted out of this world. Nothing left me even close to disappointed. The batter on the cauliflower is just a bomb of flavor. My friend got the burrito and enjoyed it as well, even as someone who does not partake in the vegetarian lifestyle. I can't wait to come back to Denver just to hit up City O' City again! 🙌😍

We came here late night, so the menu was limited. However, the food was great. We shared a pretzel (get the cheese sauce with it! They pair well together), bean and potato taquitos (this has to be the best vegan sour cream I’ve ever had… the taquitos were so crispy but not greasy), fries, and pizza wonton rolls (which we ordered twice because we loved them so much). The interior decor was fun to look at while waiting for your food. Our server was great and laidback. We will be back again to try the menu before heading back home.

I visited City O' City on a Friday late morning for breakfast. Chill atmosphere, super friendly staff and amazingly delicious food. I started with the jerk Brussels and cauliflower. Very tasty, but if you're not a fan of spice - steer clear! For the main dish we ordered the chicken and waffles (GF and Vegan), and the Sardou. Zero complaints, both dishes were so good. One of the staff recommended a side of gravy to go with the chicken and waffles and he was right... Enhanced the flavor profile to another level. I highly recommend it. My bartender, Ulises was nothing short of amazing! Friendly with a fun personality, knowledgeable and most importantly, kept a clean bar!

This used to be our favorite place to eat in Denver. We are not vegans or vegetarians but we really enjoyed their spin on food. I always came back here for the kimchi udon noodle soup. This has been replaced with dehydrated noodles in a ramen dish served cold. We are very big ramen enthusiasts and I would have to give it a 2 star. Also the buffalo wings that used to be so delicious tasted like burnt rubber and the texture was not pleasing. The pizza was delicious. I hope this was just an off night. We travel a long way out of our way each time to this restaurant. We hope the next time is better.

I was on break from jury duty and excited to finally try City O City which has always been recommended to me as an excellent restaurant vegan or otherwise. I was truly impressed and delighted by their take on chicken and waffle with cauliflower standing in for the protein. Really one of the better versions of this dish I've ever had. Service was warm but distracted, I get the feeling that when they aren't slammed, sometimes they aren't paying attention. The decor to me also is a bit sparse and on the cold day I was there it didn't feel warm or inviting. All the same, I'll be back, thought food was really interesting and tasty.

  • 5/5 Kiara A. 5 months ago on Google
I was expecting to be a little disappointed (my fault because I didn't see it was entirely vegan and gluten-free) so I went in, excited to order chicken and waffles, only to see it's fried cauliflower. BUT MAN OH MAN, y'all did it RIGHT! Hands down, the fried cauliflower tastes even better than a fried piece of chicken! Everything had flavor in everything and every bite. Pleasantly surprised for sure! I also got the chophouse burger (hoping for something close to a meaty burger, but lowering my expectations seeing it was a veggie patty) oh my goodness, I stood corrected, it was DELICIOUS. The sauce, the juicy patty, the crispy fried onions, the fries. All magical. And the pinionino thing, I had no idea what to expect but as soon as I saw do chua on it I was expecting to be grossed out. WRONG AGAIN. Idk who came up with the plantain, pickle, and papaya puree combination but they definitely understand flavor. I'm sorry I doubted y'all, this place is fantastic!

I really liked it here. The food was expensive, but very yummy. The Lavender Dream Soda was my absolute favourite. I had a Funfetti Cupcake and it was moist and not at all dense (like every other vegan cupcake or cake I've had lol). I wish I'd gotten to try more things! Our server was also super nice :)

Easily the best (vegetarian) restaurant I’ve been to in years! Excellent service, great vibe, INCREDIBLE FOOD. 10/10 would recommend and I’ll definitely be coming back while I’m in town. I honestly felt like I was eating happiness. The poutine was PERFECT- went for the Daiya cheese option and asked for some hot sauce and was handed homemade jalapeño sauce which was just a party in my mouth. The cheesesteak has so much good flavor and spice. It was really messy and so fun to eat. I also had mixed greens with vegan ranch which hit the spot. I didn’t have room for dessert but something tells me those options would be wonderful too. Love this place!

10/10 service food and atmosphere. Hailey was attentive and helpful accommodating my dietary restrictions. Prices were reasonable and the food was the best vegan breakfast I’ve had so far in denver. My favourite vegan Mac n cheese so far!

This place is a WINNER! The chicken and waffles is terrific—great combination of flavors and textures beautifully presented. The supercharged pear and fennel salad is more than enough for two. Although not a squash lover, the soup is really delicious. Crunchy fried ravioli pair perfectly with the bright and summery pesto. One of the best parts of the city o burger was the sauce. Service was friendly and efficient. Loved the art, too.

Great food, fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff. Photo is of the breakfast burrito add avocado. 1/2 green chili 1/2 grazy smothered. After trying the burrito go with the smothered gravy!! Its more unique and tasty than the green chili

We got the nachos, ravioli, and wings. The wings are massive, think more like ribs. The nachos were good, definitely bean heavy and would have enjoyed more of the other veggies and cheese but still good. The ravioli had a pesto sauce with it that is very good. Try to get there before late night menu as it becomes limited but it's still a nice vibe and relaxing place to hang with friends.

We’ve dined in twice and as newer vegans, we weren’t disappointed. The customer service was decent and the food came out hot and fast. The food was definitely the star of our experience. Everything tasted so amazing from the waffle plate to the tofu burrito. Omg. Mouth is watering thinking about it. I loved that they had a bar and happy hour as well. Open all day with plenty of option. The pizza is delicious as well. You should definitely try it if you love great food. Definitely would go again.

Love coming to City O’ City when visiting Denver. Great casual vegetarian and vegan friendly spot for breakfast, lunch or late night eats. Full bar with good cocktails. On our recent trip in we ordered the seitan wings which were delicious, a Caesar salad which was good (add some protein to spice it up), and a vegan egg cheese and sausage sandwich, which was tasty. This spot is popular so there’s usually a wait. Dog friendly patio in the summer. Also have a good selection of vegan baked goods (many from the spot next door which has same owners) and a coffee bar. Highly recommended

Bought a tea and coffee from this area as a takeout. They require a 20% gratuity fee and immediately guilt trip you that their employees have to feed their families. 20% tip for takeout for drinks by the way. Also the tea and coffee costed ~$15 together; the tea was fine but the coffee tasted watered out. I am not sure what their situation might be but it must be a struggle right now with covid and this location's rent prices.

The Food was Absolutely Incredible, I had never had any vegan foods before this and I was very very Impressed. My Husband and I both got one of the Veggie Burgers while I got a Ceaser salad on the side and he got fries. The atmosphere was perfection, the staff was warm and inviting and you have to try out the Vegan Bakery next door on your way out, Make Believe Bakery. I got this Cinnamon Orange Margarita and it was Heaven.

City O is a friendamily favorite, with amazing food, something for everyone. The atmosphere is awesome and is always so much fun to dine in at; but if you're ordering to-go they will make the food and service just as enjoyable. Great customer service and food, they try to make sure everything they do for their staffs and customers is the best. The WINGS are the best. Seriously. Driving 30-45 minutes just to get them to-go is not crazy.

If I could describe this place in one word, PERFECT! You won't believe it's vegan! I had the "chicken" (fried cauliflower) and waffles... 😫🤤😢 I've never had a better batter. Not even on the best fried chicken I've ever had! The menu is vast, you'll have plenty of options to choose from. Cocktails are great, staff is professional, and friendly. Treat yourself to this plant based gem, that your friends won't even believe it's plant based!

Bailey was amazong help for our first visit. My boyfriends fries were soggy and old, my Philly "meat" was over cooked. Every time I took a bite a bunch of pieces fell out my sandwich because they were so tough. They charged us .75 cents for BBQ sauce and wasn't told that it is an extra charge. Also the cola is cola and not coke, it tasted dirty and old, on top of not being told that it was "classic cola" not coke. We appreciate the idea of a vegan restaurant, but the quality is not there. Thank you Bailey for being a pleasant server. The Mac and cheese was pretty tasty. Everything else was way off the price we paid...

Great spot for gluten free and vegetarian options. I struggle a bit because I am grain free, but I can usually find 4 or 5 things on the menu I can enjoy! I love the vibe and service here.

Sister to the Waterhouse. Great alternative. Street parking. Food wasn't piping hot. Lot more grungy than Watercourse.

I love this place so much. The mac wrap is my fave, along with the vegan ho ho cupcake for dessert.
