I heard this is a great chinese food for the price that they are offering from the Denver Foodie group. Damn, this has to be one of worst chinese food i’ve ever eaten. The orange chicken has so much chili oils I poo fire for days and only eaten a few bites. The rice as you can see hard as rock and weird yellow oily texture. No, just because it cheap doesn’t make it great. Customer service is off the chart horrible.

The maitre d greeted us with a warm smile and walked us to the table with the best view (see photo). We declined the sommelier's service and opted for Perrier instead. The wait staff was prompt with our order. The chefs obviously studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and created a masterpiece that the honorable General Tso would be proud of. Every bite was a delight and the ambience was exquisite. I would give this 6 instead of 5 stars if I could. My only complaint is that they lack valet service.

We have ordered from Great Wall Chinese Restaurant for years and were very pleased with them. Tonight, 01/14/22, we ordered from them. When we received our order, one part of the order was a combo, beef & broccoli. Sadly, the order was ALL broccoli with NO BEEF! We reached out to the Restaurant to advise they had not served us any beef and requested they bring us beef. The person (John) was exceptionally rude, belligerent, and basically accused me of lying. This surprised me considering we had been using them for years and never had any complaints before. Then, when he brought the replacement, he insisted upon viewing the old order before he would give me a new one. I went and got it for him and showed him there was NO BEEF. I live on the 4th floor so had to go up 4 flights of stairs and back to get the old order for him. I questioned him as to why he didn't ask me to bring it down when he arrived instead of waiting until I got down to the first floor. He then accused me of picking out the beef. I was shocked! I told him I used Great Wall for years and nothing like this had occurred and the fact he was questioning my integrity was unbelievable. I did not ask him to replace our entire order for two people, just the beef and broccoli combo order that only had broccoli NO BEEF! The fact, as a "Customer" that had been with them for years and never complained before and John was so rude and belligerent towards me for their poor service and failure to complete an order correctly. John expected me to be satisfied with their failure and then belittled me for complaining and asking them to correct it. My recommendation - DO NOT USE THIS RESTAURANT! Because, if they mess your order up, they will turn on you, be nasty, and belittle you as a customer. Personally, I want to be treated like a "Paying Customer" for good service, quality food, and the order filled correctly. DO NOT USE THIS RESTAURANT!

I so wanted to love this place since I just moved into the neighborhood. I’ve been eating General Tso Chicken or Tofu for 25 years and this wasn’t it. It supposed to be the color of Bordeaux, a burgundy color, not yellow#5 and red #6. It also says online that it’s $8.99 for the combo n $1.69 for the egg rolls but it was $10.99 and $2.10. As u can see in the pic, I’m very confused on what part of the chicken I’m being served, the neck? And where did the shrimp come from? And for all you people who’s reviews I read, all the ones at the top, curse you! This is NOT NY style food, in fact, please tell me when you lived in the city, last ate there? I guarantee none of them even lived there before. The food was terrible, I’m sorry. “Best egg rolls I’ve ever eaten”, why? Where all have you eaten them? There was nothing special about the egg rolls. I don’t think I’ll be back. Fool me once….

Won’t be eating here again. I am not opposed to “strip mall” Chinese food… quick, easy, and the classic meals. However, I got sesame chicken- virtually no chicken and just over fried pieces. Fried race couldn’t be more bland.

I’ve literally been here over 50 times over the my nearly 6 years in the city, maybe 60+ visits at this point. They’re short with you but polite and efficient. Killer Colfax location too. My go-to is General Tso’s combo with white rice (includes broccoli and egg roll). Basic and just what I crave sometimes. They struggled through the Covid era, like every other restaurant around, and when they finally opened back up I said genuinely “We really missed you guys!” to which he quickly happily replied “Missed you too!”

This place is pretty popular, so I would order by phone and tell them you will pay with cash. Show up 20-25 minutes later and get to the window. Show your cash and say hello and be friendly, they are busy but will ask you what you had. Pay & Pick up your order of 8 spare ribs, cream cheese wontons, and your last choice is an experiment. Any other meat is cut too small, so you have to pick out the good pieces. I threw away 50% of my main entree, over cooked and just breading. They need to make the pieces of meat they cook larger, and give you less.. the inside is also pretty crazy due to covid and all the delivery orders. I saw people waiting 30+ minutes while working food delivery.

This review is mainly for anyone visiting from NY or NJ... This is not chinese food. I don't know what people around here eat, but this place would never make it where I live. I can't tell the difference (taste or look) between white rice and fried rice. A bite of egg roll will have grease dripping off your elbow. The broccoli was OK I guess. So then I read the reviews and saw how the chicken was stored. Let's just hope we don't all get sick from the couple bites we took.

If I could give zero stars I would!. The delivery guy is the ugliest person I ever met! And I mean person wise not looks. Very rude demanding a tip. Didn't release my food till he was satisfying on the tip I gave him still walking away being so disrespectful. My opinion they need a new f'n driver who don't harass customers even after they paid for their food. They definitely lost a customer today and the owner do nothing about it but make excuses for their driver. It's sick!

It seems that their food has lost its loving feeling! Not only that the restaurant has gotten even more unclean! You don't want to eat in someone's nasty kitchen, why eat the food from a place of business that just doesn't clean! I understand things have changed and times are hard but to eat from such a nasty kitchen, no not again! The food was was overly cooked close to burnt and bland. I used to go there all the time! But those days are over!

I ordered food & after waiting for over an hour and a half, the delivery driver finally showed up, and would not give me my food until I gave him a tip! I felt like I was being extorted for the tip for delivery! So to get the delivery driver to leave and to give me my food that I already paid for, I gave a $2 tip! The food was cold & their was hair in the chicken chow mein. I normally only leave good reviews of good places that offer very good service! Being in the top 10% of Google reviewers in the Denver metro area when it comes to restaurants, I feel I have the responsibility to let others know before they make the mistake and order food for delivery from this restaurant!

Ordered $80.00 online and the only things that had flavor were our soups and sides. We had a combo pork and chicken, and a chicken and shrimp garlic sauce. No flavor, even added a lot of salt red pepper and soy sauce. Not to mention I ordered steamed rice and brown rice for $1.00 extra, and the rice we got I wouldn’t even say were close to either of them, let alone even fried rice at that. It was one of the worst Asian food experiences I’ve ever had and Asian food is one of my favorites. The egg drop soup and the fried egg rolls of course good because how can you messed that up lol.

Wow, take some pride in your product! Greasy egg rolls, bland entree’s - yikes! Yes, we ate it because we were super hungry but eesh, there’s so many other, much better options out there.

The best Chinese food in Denver. There is no other joint I had that taste as close to New York Chinese like Great wall. Family-owned greatness. Street ish.

I used to live by this spot. I probably got takeout once or twice a week most weeks. My friends visiting from Colorado Springs got takeout with me. Now, I have to bring Great Wall takeout with me when I visit the Springs or I'm not welcome. Thanks a lot. I moved, but I still make the trek back on the regular. Great lo mein.

Some of the reviews of this place are insanely petty and just weird. I read someone’s review whose main focal point was the color of the sauce, arguing that it’s “not the correct color” for General Tso’s…. Anyways, while there is an obvious language barrier (it’s a chinese restaurant after all) the staff have always been polite and courteous. Visually, sure, it’s not the nicest looking place, but what part of Colfax is? This is a place to get quick, affordable Chinese, not five star cuisine. Also, maybe it’s just me, but you probably shouldn’t expect a wine and dine experience from a restaurant that only offers take-out. If that’s what you’re after, common sense would tell you this isn’t your place. Regardless, considering it’s about $12 a head, I think you’re safe giving this spot a chance.

Easy peasy fast Chinese late night take out. Typical Chinese fast food that hits the spot after a night out.

I like the food here, service is a bit slow but that's because this place is always busy. When food is good you can expect a wait, but it's worth it. My favorite is fried half chicken with friend rice. This place is the real deal. I go out of my way to drive here and enjoy their delicious Chinese food. I really wish they would allow dine in, but they only do take out.

My sesame chicken was overcooked and dry. Just crunchy pieces. My side of chicken fried rice had 2 thin pieces of flavorless chicken. Delivery guy was nice but didn’t come up to my apartment, instead called me and had me walk to the other side of building. Don’t order from here. Worst Chinese food ever

Kind of the definition of "hole in the wall" (and I mean that warmly!) Some of the best Chinese American food I've had in years. Spice level was perfect. The rice dishes were less than ideal, but everything else was amazing. The egg rolls, crab Rangoon, various beef and chicken dishes. Staff were very kind and patient (had a friend who placed a second order after me and there was a confusion over the name) Definitely making a stop here anytime I'm in the Denver area!

I've been going to this little hole in the wall !.I just got what I said instead of the great wall but seriously it is a hole in the wall but a good hole in the wall just like any mom and pop restaurant those are usually the better tasting one's because they make most of everything from scratch not frozen like the big chains do I've never ever had a complaint about the food but if you have been following me which nobody has and why is that? But anyways I'm not to bite my tongue when it comes to my reviews and I believe no one should i think if there's something you didn't like about the establishment no matter how trivial it was we owe it to the community to be a 100% honest and truthful about the places we write reviews on with that said this is my only complaint was or is the customer service they spent a lot of time and effort on their food so let's not see them fall short just because they are lacking in there customer service area, I'll wrap it up the food is good the prices are very competitive there main business is take out so plain accordingly !oh just to add a little something on to this review I've been eating their for over 20 years!!

I ordered a meal for carry out. So I waited in the restaurant for my order since I didn't have a car. My wait was about 20 minutes. You can no longer eat inside because it is not set up for dining in. I don't know what happened. But my fried rice was good still good when I got home.

Great Wall all time favorite Chinese food. I’m from California and the Great Wall there is so delicious and the food here is a good replica. The food is so good and comforting. We’ve tried the orange chicken. Beef and broccoli, rib tips, lo mein, chicken wings all so delicious.

This is my go to place for New York style Chinese food. Once or twice in the past I got smaller, overcooked pieces of chicken, but most recently, the quality has been a lot better, making everything even more delicious.

I am 53 years old and this is definitely the WORST Chinese food I've ever eaten. The oil that they fried the spring rolls in was rancid. And the entree was just boring and fried rice was dry with no flavor and very little meat. Plus the place is FILTHY!

There Egg Rolls, Wontons & Fried Chicken Wings Are Good But Other Than That I Would Not Recommend. I Honestly Wouldn’t Recommend Eating Here in General. The Shop Is Dirty & Forgotten. The Windows Have Been Broken For Over 3 Months. There’s No Where To Sit Because They Won’t Clean All The Dirty Boxes They Pile On The Booths . The Table & Chairs, Floor Etc Look Like They Found Them Outside. The Soda Machine Is Always “Out Of Order” The Sesame Chicken Is Very Strange, Dry Texture The Rice is Old & Has No Flavor Every item Has A Very “Funny” Taste To It. It Is Also A Bad Area. Prices Are Reasonable & So Are The proportions They Are Stingy With The Sauce/Packets. I Would Recommend on Spending A Little Bit More Elsewhere For Good Quality Food & Environment

Sesame chicken was very spicy. Rice was also yellow and weird tasting-lots of chunks of onions. Egg roll was good though. Would not order from here again though.

I use 2 grind in the area and always would drop in for the shrimp fried rice and wings! They never failed! Love these folks.

Former Manhattaner, outer borough resident, my father owned a Chinese restaurant in Bridgeport CT that makes yellow fried rice and chicken wings using yellow #5, - this restaurant reminds me of my childhood. Egg Foo Young tastes just like how my Dad made it. Chicken wings are awesome. If you're not from the North East Hood area you would not be use to the style. Yes, there are many places that are better on things - every place has its specialties. The Asian Fusion places doesn't compare but it's still good. My dad made General Tso's chicken ( northeast) using dark meat to make the chicken and the batter is different. Here, in Colorado- the batter is the same as the sweet and sour batter. It's what "You Are" use to. No one here uses yellow rice but in the Hood - they did and with bbq pork jn it. Plus they put bean sprout. It's what you grew up with. This is not the authentic Chinese food like chinatown- it's the junkie cheap eats for the Americans. Quintessential hole in the wall, dirty, bad service but great food type of place!!! Like my Dad's place growing up. Lol. The old man reminds me of my uncle.

I wanted to like this place and ordered Mongolian beef, and was sadly met with just Mongolian onions with a few pieces of beef.

I've lived in this neighborhood for 4 years. This is my first visit to Great Wall. I ordered takeout over the phone. Wonton soup, sesame chicken, and vegetable fried rice. It was mediocre at best. The chicken was so over cooked that it was tough. But my biggest problem was that I taken aback at the shabby and dirty interior. I won't return. Ann Freeman
