We were attending a movie down the street. There were three of us who were going to meet here and eat. As we entered we were asked "just the two of you?" We said "no we have someone joining us." She asked "what is the name of third person?" We said Andrea and she asked "is that a male or female?" We were shocked it wasn't a relevant question. We told her female to which she said "well that name could go either way." Our thoughts were, no it is a female name and why does it matter? We were sat and our third person arrived. Our server was not attentive at all. I had to get up three times to ask for water, napkins and tea refills and finally our check. I observed our server attending to tables sat after us. This restaurant does not seem to be LGTBQ+ friendly. The guests are an older crowd and little diversity. The food was good. We ordered an avocado salad but they forgot the avocado. I had to seek a server to let them know. Parking was easy, they are on the first floor. The restaurant is very, very dark. After our experience I would not recommend this restaurant based on customer service.

Poppy's is a great place to good classic comfort food! We really appreciate that they have a very nice outdoor dining set up, even though we chose to eat indoors. The menu was extensive with lots of Classics including beef stroganoff, specialty hamburgers, shrimp scampi, prime rib and beef sandwiches, and lots of healthy salads to choose from. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and our food was served piping hot and very quickly. I give Poppies Restaurant on Colorado Boulevard five stars!

This is our 6th year we celebrated our anniversary at Poppies due to the great food and atmosphere. Our waitress, Missy was expectional! Top notch service. We brought our 2 children and grandchild, which made for an even more special experience. Thank you Poppies , and to our server for another wonderful anniversary!

This hidden gem is popular with older generations. Poppies delivers on delicious and well prepared meals with fast and friendly service at reasonable prices.

I'm glad a made a reservation for this place as when I walked in it was absolutely packed which is usually a good sign. The potato skins had a ton of flavor. Definitely enjoyed those. For the price I paid for the chicken piccata I was disappointed. The serving size of the chicken was underwhelming and the noodles were lightly buttered. Other reviews are much kinder and most come from regulars so this being my first experience I can't completely bash it.

Great food, service, drinks. A little dark inside, where's the lights? I can see why this place has been open for so long. It's delicious. The food was so good I didn't even have time to snap a photo.

I've been eating here since 1999. I do not have any pictures because when it comes out it smells and looks delicious. I'm going to try and add the pictures next time I go. This time I came specifically for their French fries and ranch dressing. I had a lemonade and the bartender took care of me. Great atmosphere. I had a mask to be cautious but wasn't required. Until next time.

We were sat almost right away. Waitress was very friendly. Place looks like it's been around a pretty long time with the crowd that it attracts, the seats look updated. Place is pretty crowded. The chips and guacamole was pretty good. Poppies burger was delicious with the barbeque sauce and the sauteed onions the fries were so so. The ribeye enchilada was good but whatever flavor of the black beans, wasn't as appetizing. Good portion sized.

I had a turkey club with fresh turkey, not processed. Toasted sour dough was delicious, cheese, bacon, and avocado πŸ˜‹ 😍 ! Came with fries. Pic is leftover sandwich. My client had a shrimp salad, it looked pretty good. I had NY cheese cake no toppings. It was thick and had a wonderful crust. My client had a nice thick slice of carrot cake that would've paired well with some wine ! Looks I got however for being ⚫.........

Poppies has been a Denver staple forever! The service and food are excellent. The restaurant decor needs updating and its really dark inside. Which is hard on the majority of their older clientele. Other than lighting issues, food was delicious!

I'd heard about this place for years but had never been before. The interior was a throwback to an old piano bar lounge, which I happen to like but may not be for everyone. The mussels were among the best I've ever had. My friend enjoyed an order of ribs. Generous pouring of wine.

This place is amazing. Lots of cuisine choices including classic comfort food. Great grub, excellent customer service(wait and host staff), and an old school atmosphere, takes you back in time. Some of the best carrot cake I've ever had. This is my new favorite supper joint.

Old school eats here. Mashes you feel the godfather is sitting at the back table. Great staff and specials. Home made brownie mocha ice cream was killer. Prime rib sandwich. Crispy house cut fries. The place was mostly filled early with an older crowd which tells you they've been coming around a long time. This is not a trendy hipster spot, it's more old world. Just great food with excellent service. Simple and delicious and makes you a loyal customer.

Wonderful ambience, food is fairly priced, generously portioned and delicious. Flawless service from the lovely Bartender. Stepping across their threshold, I felt like I'd been transported several decades backwards in time. It's very old school in all the best ways possible. Best dining experience I've had in several years.

Poppies is delightful. A friend picked it for lunch. It did not disappoint. Our party of four were well pleased with the service and food. My Salmon Piccata excellent. Flavorful and ample. If I visit Denver, I will be back.

We used to be regulars at Poppies. We had poor service a few times and didn’t go back. We decided to try it last night and we went for an early dinner. We asked for a booth and were told they were all reserved. When we went into the dining room huge RESERVED signs were on several booths which I understand as there were reservations but none of the booths were seated until we left an hour and a half later. The hostess and her trainer have no idea how to pace seating. We were placed at a poor table as were 2 other couples 1 of which left because of the poor ambiance. The front of the house is not complimentary to the great food and service. The hostess never smiled and seemed like she was on a power trip with her big reserved sign rather than trying to accommodate the customer.

Experienced Poppies for the first time as part of a group of 25 seniors. The bar area reminded me of Cheers, however, we were seated in the dining area. It was busy when we arrived at 4:30 on Thursday and was packed with a waiting line when we left at 6:15. Despite the number of customers, our waitress,Sarah, took care of us with a constant smile and patience. Everyone at our table ordered a variety of food and enjoyed each item. I had the schnitzel and loved it with the fresh red cabbage and fluffy potatoes. This will not be my last visit!

We were greeted on entry it was a very busy night we had to wait for a table which is a good sign. We ate in the bar area, had to wait a few extra minutes for the help to come. After a few questions about the menu we made a selection and a drink selection. The bar brought the drinks first and the food came out not too long after that everything was excellent we had mussels and prime rib enchiladas. Everything tasted very fresh it was quite good and I would go again.

Stopped in on a whim for lunch, and were glad we did. Really cool old school atmosphere, friendly staff, prompt service, and delicious food. The Mrs. ordered a French Dip, and told me it was really good! Her sweet potato fries were the best I've had anywhere. I ordered the Salmon Piccata, and I was blown away how delicious it was! The salmon was cooked perfectly, with a nice crispness to the outside, and tender on the inside. The veggies on the side were cooked right, and not soggy. We grabbed a bag of the peanut butter chocolate chip cookies on the way out, and they were outstanding! Soft, chewy, and not overly sweet. We were impressed, and will definitely be back!

Okay, I am overwhelmed with my first dinner at Poppies. This trout special is exceptional. The panko breaded trout is perfectly prepared. The spinach is a special touch. A carefully prepared rice pilaf is a treat.

A hidden old school gem. Lovely and casual yet upscale dining experience. Attentive service. We each ordered a different dish. Each was a delite to the palate. That bread pudding though....!

We had a wonderful dinner at Poppies. Everyone had something different and we really enjoyed everything. The prime rib, rib roast and stroganoff were among the favorites. Desserts were very small but tasted delicious. Service seemed a little rushed from what we are guessing was from being short staffed but none the less it will not stop us from coming back here. Loved the β€œold school” vibe in this place.

Haven't been here in years, but the return visit was perfect. Arrive before 6 to take advantage of happy hour ... $2 off on a glass of wine, half price for the bottle! There are specials every day, and today's crusted sole with rice was fantastic. Be sure to save some room for the dessert. We had the bread pudding. The place is low key, lots of regulars and locals. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and the background music of famliar music of the 60s and 70s was soft enough that we didn't have to shout across the table.
