Came from out of town and had dinner here. The scenery seemed pretty good with live music. Took a seat in the back because sitting next to the band in front wad way too loud, unless you want to yell at one another. While waiting, our servers took forever, even though we were right by their station in the back with the high chairs, which seated 8. Finally, someone came, and we had to yell out our order. Again, waiting... our server kept passing us with empty drinks. When we flagged her down, she got annoyed. Food came out and was mediocre. Fishsticks weren't that impressive. I did like the sweet potato fries. All in all, this isn't a place to go when you want to talk. Bring ear plugs.

I stumbled upon this restaurant after arriving in Denver jet lagged and dehydrated. I am so glad I settled on this venue. The owners love beef, beer and whiskey, and it shows in every aspect of what they do. I had a bison T-bone - heavenly - it tastes like beef that has been aged in beef extract, and I spent fully two minutes savoring the aroma of seared beef and charcoal before I tucked in. Apparently this is a collaboration with a local bison farmer -in my view it is a stunning success. Being from overseas I needed help choosing from the 24 beers available, and the staff were able to advise me as to what I wanted, with knowledge of what each of their selected beers was like. Finally, I sought advice on a good local whisky, and was not disappointed by the recommendation. Overall an awesome restaurant supported by engaged, enlightened and excellent staff. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Fantastic little spot for food and drink! 1930's Era bar adds a lot of character to the place. Had the elk burger and Mac and cheese - off the chart good! Full service bar, with plenty of options. Bartender Kelly was super friendly and very attentive. Excellent food, excellent service!!! Definitely recommend.

Ordered takeout and was very disappointed. We were looking for something light so we ordered a couple large Caesar salads, some wings and a order of grilled zucchini. Salads were just greens dusted with Parm and that's it! Very very small even though it was the "large". Decided to have a beer while I waited for the meal to come out and couldn't get served for around 15+ minutes. Not impressed! Would hope that dine in experience would be much better?! The price for the large salad was 11$ on the menu but was also charged 13$ no cutlery was offered with order.

I work down the street and stopped in for lunch, I ordered the Caesar salad with added salmon and it was very well balanced. The Parmesan crisps add a good crunch, the traditional anchovies enhance the other flavors, and the salmon had a good crisp while being flaky and moist. Shoutout to my waitress Silver, she was very friendly and attentive and made my dining more pleasant. I’ll definitely be back!

Open late with food! Was able to get a table on a busy Friday night with only a short wait. Live band made it incredibly loud, but we were too hungry & tired to care. I had the burger & truffle fries (more garlic than truffle but very good). Hubs had the fish & chips and liked it very much. Great beer selection and not too pricey for the area. Please note 20% Gratuity is included as a “service charge” on your bill. I believe this helps support a working wage, health care etc but it’s not something we were used to.

I was so glad we chose Appaloosa last night, because the entire experience was fantastic. The food was so delicious it sent me to a higher plane. I highly recommend the bison filet. MOUTHWATERING. Can't wait until our next excuse to visit the city so we can come again!

First timers- lobster roll was fantastic! Burger, average, Mac and cheese above the norm. HOWEVER, I think it’s important to see actual size of the roll you’re getting for the $40 price tag (fries not included), and mind you, I’m an average sized gentlemen so my paw pictured here is proportioned. The roll IS meaty, and flavorful, but was a little shocking in size when it arrived. I’m dropping a star not because of the size of the roll, but service was mediocre at best. We had to sit at tables just outside bar area and I’m guessing bartender was having a bad day- sadly, my family and I had to experience his discontent. Still- food was overall pretty darn good. 😁👍🏼 Oh- and be prepared for the. automatically 20% gratuity, regardless of table size (we were 3), and if you don’t leave additional tip (yes, on top of the 20%), you WILL GET THE STINK-EYE!

Business trip brought me to Denver and Appaloosa was the first place I ate. It certainly did not disappoint! Normally, on these trips I'll only eat a place once so I can enjoy all a city has. Well, Appaloosa pulled me back 3 times altogether! My family and colleagues enjoyed the bison steak, the bison burger, and the Chili. All the items we tried was amazing. It took a minute to appreciate the tip system. All food has a 20% service charge that all the employees share - and you are given the opportunity to add extra for your server. After our first meal it wasn't hard to leave extra. The food, atmosphere and service was great. All our food was prepared as stated and the choices was great. They were one of the few places we found on 16th Street that has music every night. Check them out - enjoy!

Good food, great service! We ordered the baked goat cheese as an appetizer and it was wonderful! I'd definitely order again! My husband ordered the steak and veggies with shrimp on the side and I had the Maine lobster roll with truffle fries. Both were very tasty! I ordered the lemon drop with dinner and he had the paper plane, they paired great! The restaurant was busy, but we got received our food in a very timely manner and it was hot and delicious! The servers were all very kind and knowledgeable as well. We will definitely come back to eat when we're in Denver again :)

Our waitress was very attentive and she was constantly on the move making sure tables had everything they needed - excellent! They had live music playing some great tunes and the volume/acoustics were at a great level so you could still easily have a conversation. Food was excellent and prices were incredibly reasonable!

The brussel sprouts were delicious!! They were perfectly crispy and the sauce was really good. The tempura chicken avocado sandwich I got sounded waaayyyy better on the menu than it actually was. It was flavorLESS. None at all. If the chicken patty had some sort of flavor, I think it would have been good. The sweet potato fries were some of my fave. My husband got the bison burger and it was good, wierd, bad, crazy, amazing, and different. Those are words we actually used to describe it. I think everyone should try it at least once. The mac and cheese was okay. The lemon drop drink was okay too. Not the best we've had, but not the worst either. I wasn't a fan of the vibe inside either. However, we would definitely go back again, but just for the brussel sprouts.

Great food, great place and nice atmosphere. The food was great and very generous. Got the chicken burger with fried avocado. Honestly the fried avocado doesnt add much to the burger as it gets all mushy at some point. We also had the mushroom pasta which was super tasty as well. There is also a nice long list of beer options

Overall experience was okay. The portion sizes were small compared to the price but overall the food was okay. The wedge salad was amazing but the blackened chicken was a little dry. The waiter was nice but not very attentive. We had to ask several times for different items when they brought us our food we did not have utensils. The desert however was phenomenal. We had the bananas Foster's cake tops with a vanilla ice cream and a caramel drizzle. The band was okay it was very loud and they seem to only know a few songs.

It is hard to give this restaurant a straightforward review. We came on a night where apparently they have been closed 1 month prior. They were quick to seat us and take our order. The waiter was very kind and knowledgeable. However, when they brought out water out, there was this mucus-type liquid floating around in the pitchers. It was rather disgusting and the waiter even acknowledged that. It could very easily have something to do with being closed for the month before but it was still gross. They also ran out of gluten free buns and could only provide us with 1 bun out of the 2 we ordered. The food though was great. They have many options and we all enjoyed our meals. It was decently priced as well. We attended on a night with live music which was fun. It does get VERY loud though.

I always stop by for lunch when I'm in town! you seat yourself, rotating menu. no straws. Chicken sandwich is always good. Baked goat cheese. Truffle Fries!!! The service during the day is sometimes uninviting.

I was in town for a conference and had steaks at several well known steakhouses and I must say...the steak here was the best!!! The service is awesome and the establishment was very welcoming. If you are in Denver, you definitely need to check this place out.

LIVE music in this restaurant. Cool atmosphere with a great staff. Make your reservation. We had a party of 10 and were seated right away. The menu is diverse and tasty. I got the Borracho Avocado app, where the avocado was beer battered and fried, then served with chips and pico. Dinner was the filet mignon with zucchini and mashies. Five stars across the board. Our group played a murder mystery game while we ate. There was no room for dessert, but that apple cinnamon creme brule was very tempting.

Craved a really good steak stopped in here during the early afternoon. The staff was so kind to share thier recommendations ordered the ribeye with blue cheese butter and the fried Brussel sprouts with a sweet and sour sauce. I enjoyed my drink at an over 120 year old bar from a historic opera house and enjoyed every bite of my meal. It was a lovely afternoon overall. My only criticism would be the bartender was not super attentive with an empty bar, so I moved to a table near the window and there were a sock and "mud" on the outside awning and it was a little slow had a sleepy vibe but the hostess was a Jem. I'd definitely come back for that steak.

We wanted to try one of the least touristy looking spots in the 16st Street Mall area and ended up here. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and what the menu had to offer. I would have liked more local beers on the list but it still has a few. The picture is of the goat cheese appetizer (vegetarian) which has a nice chili flavor with a hint of sweet.
