Well done museum with great colors and lighting. All the little rooms and hallways, passageways give intimacy to the art provided. It makes me feel like I could enjoy without a lot of people around. Good selection of exhibits, bathrooms are always close. Tip: Take the elevator to the top, work your way down. The map isn't a good guide and it seemingly leaves out a lot of the museum.

So much to see and do for a very affordable ticket price! The Denver Art Museum is a large collection of a wide variety of artistic pieces from around the world. There's something for everyone spread out across multiple floors in two different buildings. You can spend several hours here and not see it all in one trip. The rotating and special exhibits are always unique as well and worth the extra few dollars to see.

Pretty good overall. I was impressed with the variety of artwork and pleasantly surprised. I think it's a disservice to the Indigenous Arts of North America exhibit and artists that recorded video and audio to accompany their pieces with the museum's poor placement of being next to the hallway where every visitor talks loudly in groups and passing by. I couldn't hear the video/audio recording because visitors voices echoed and elevated in volume.

Really impressed. Have to say I was shocked to see such high class for this museum, it was unexpected. Was not expecting such prominence of really world-renowned artist (Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, Cezanne…). Really spectacular exhibits. I was blown away by the pink universe exhibit and the Paris to Hollywood exhibit featuring Veronique Peck’s fashion was stunning, for me particularly as a fashion lover. The 19th century European art was amazing as well. For pandemic times, this museum did really well and I see no problem with paying full price to see a limited portion, I am not at all upset about paying to see this amazing selection of art for a mere $13. Staff was awesome. I did have a few questions and comments throughout the exhibit and every employee had something to share; I could really tell they knew what they were talking about. The gift shop had a great selection as well. Can’t wait to return when the museum is entirely reopened.

Absolutely breathtaking! The Denver Art Museum is an amazing collection of some of the most interesting and eclectic art pieces. The setup is open and spacious and inviting and I think they've been a wonderful job. I thoroughly enjoyed myself! I highly recommend it, and especially on the many free days that are offered each year

Wonderful art museum!. Buildings are modern and beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They have a large collection of both modern and historic artwork and exhibits are very interesting. They also have a parking garage which is conveniently located and made it easy to access the museum. They have two restaurants on site. We went to the more causal cafe to get a snack and food/drinks were good. There is a lot to see so plan to spend at least several hours here.

The Denver Art Museum is a cultural gem that truly captivates visitors. Spanning two buildings, its architectural presence is impressive, offering a dynamic space for art exploration. With three and seven floors respectively, the museum hosts a diverse collection that spans continents and cultures. From the rich artistic heritage of Asia to thought-provoking exhibits on Black art, the museum provides a comprehensive and enriching experience. Navigating through the various floors feels like embarking on a visual journey, each exhibit offering a unique perspective. Whether you're an art enthusiast or a casual visitor, the Denver Art Museum is unquestionably worth the visit, promising a tapestry of artistic expression that transcends boundaries.

My parents and I spent the afternoon touring the Denver Art Museum and had a fantastic experience. From the architecture of the museum to the views of downtown and the Rocky Mountains, the space is inviting and inclusive. We were able to borrow a museum wheelchair for my mom to access the museum while my dad took advantage of the portable seating. The galleries featured extensively artwork of native and local artists while adding to a more traditional collection. I appreciated the care that went into curating the exhibits too. My mom especially enjoyed the textiles. You can definitely spend an afternoon, an entire day, or days exploring all that the museum has to offer. I know I will be back during my next adventure in Denver to take in even more!

The Denver Art Museum was really an incredible experience. I had a lot of fun. I went with my girlfriend who is an artist and a Colorado Native. It was really neat to not only see the art, but also to see it through her. If you have someone special I recommend going here and asking questions. My favorite moments were when we'd explain our interpretations of the work to each other. I was sad I didn't find anything that caught my eye at the gift shop but I'm sure others had a very different experience there.

Wonderful art museum for a reasonable price and helpful staff. The wide range of arts and exhibits will cater to any aficionado. The balcony on the top floor is awesome as well - great way to see the mountains and the capitol building! Could easily spend a few hours here as there are two buildings full of art.

What a great museum! Awesome exhibitions. They were also having a printmaking event where you could watch and talk to artists making prints using different methods. Would definitely come back for a second look.

I came here about 9 years ago and spent 3+ hours then I came over this past weekend June 2023, I only got to see 1 40 minutes. Please do yourself a favor and set aside a solid chunk of your day to explore and enjoy the whole of what the museum has to offer, 2 buildings 11 floors between them. So much art you could get lost. People are friendly. Gift shop had an abundance of items. Will be back my favorite wing is the Islamic art.

Tickets were $18 for a nonresident. They have some nice art pieces. The floors are separated by regions where the art came from. My favorite floor showcased indigenous art. I was at the museum for a couple of hours but didn’t finish seeing the entire museum. I would come again.

The new building and existing building are absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. There are childrens activities if you have kids. The cafe and restaurant are amazing and priced right. Would definitely recommend having a few hours to get a thorough view of as many exhibits as you can.

The Denver art museum was an extremely fun experience! The staff and volunteers were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The entire museum spans 2 buildings with a combined 10+ floors I believe. If I'm not mistaken the price of entry for adults was $19 for non Colorado residents. I would say it was well worth the price. Many sections are permanent fixtures though some are filled with temporary traveling exhibits!

Came from Texas! Lucky for us it was a free entrance day! (Don’t recall which exact day) But i loved it! They let us take some free group photos! 4 total, so one for each of my friends and I! They had an exhibit and it was really interesting. I LOVED how they had a couple Claude Monet pieces and there was also a guide explaining certain pieces and what they mean. They also had a gift shop with really nice interesting things. They had a light up book!! Wish i could come back soon! The museum was really friendly and open. There was even a floor where the wall was all clocks! Loved it.

I had so much fun at the museum the other day with my fam. Honestly, I’ve only had good experiences at the art museum and have really great memories of when we saw the Monet exhibit a few years back. I remember it being a great night out with my hubby and we LOVED the beautiful paintings. I think they have a ton of new artwork! I was blown away by all the amazing art!

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Art Museum. We went on a free day so not everything was available but that didn't matter! There was plenty to enjoy. There's so many interactive stations throughout the museum to explore hands-on for all ages. There were short 10 minute lectures/discussions in various parts of the museum for guests to enjoy. We listened to several of these. It made for a great Homeschool day for us.

One of the best museums I’ve ever been to! The Saints , sinners, lovers and fools collection is so well-organized and fun to watch! Love it 😍 It has quite some cutting-edge modern art collections too! A must-go place at Denver. Parking is convenient on Sundays on the street since it’s free.

What an incredible experience, I took my teenage brother and his friends to the art museum for a couple hours and my only regret is I didn’t have more time. We paid more for the all star access and they were very into it. Amazing staff. Incredible pieces. Coming back to visit when I’m in Denver again.

7 floors of art in a modern building whose architecture is designed to provide beautiful views of Denver. There was too much to see in one day, so I went back the next day, despite the added cost of paying for a second day because I thought the value was worth it. I loved that an entire floor was comprised of current artists indigenous to the US and Canada. These pieces reacted to the history of colonization and coped with finding self in modern day. The art ranged from sculptures to paintings, from realism to abstract. I've rarely seen art museums with this kind of collection. However, I was disappointed that in order to get to that floor, most visitors would pass through an exhibit on Native American art from hundreds of years ago. This exhibit made no mention of how the museum obtained the art, nor how the museum was currently working with Native Americans to either return the art to their community, or to ensure they were displaying it properly. Additionally, on another floor, a Qu'ran was displayed opened. While I've often seen Bibles displayed that way, this could be disrespectful, given that the majority of Americans know little about Islam. There was not enough context provided here about why it was open, how it was obtained, and whether the museum was working with anyone from the Muslim community about appropriate ways to display. The top floor has marvelous local art and also balconies with marvelous views of the city. The rotating exhibits were fascinating and well worth the extra cost.

Wonderful museum in a great new building. The collection of pre-Colombian American artifacts and art is superb. Huge amount of stuff in incredible condition. The Western art is also fantastic. The descriptive cards are well done and clear and very helpful. They also have a new program of docents who pick a picture to talk about and they stand by the picture and offer 5-10 minutes of in-depth analysis about it. Mine was about a weird picture of St. Michael appearing after some obscure 5th Century miracle; really quirky and interesting. Great idea and it works well. Good cafe too.

I absolutely loved this museum! 7 floors of amazing views and perspectives. The design of the building itself is a piece of art. There's lots of pitstops on each floor for families or creatives who can take a break from walking and leave their own art at the museum. So much information and organized in such a respectful manner. I really appreciated the respect that went into making the sections for Native American art, Latin American art, and Asian art. For about 18 dollars general admission, this is very worth your time. Plan to spend at least half the day here!

Loved the new armor exhibit for 2022. All of the attendants/volunteers were very kind and thoughtful and would offer my friend and I small tidbits of information that wasn’t listed for public knowledge near the displays. I appreciate that no matter how many times you visit, there’s always something you may have missed the previous time. One of my favorite places to have conversations regarding what it means to create. Can we understand the artist through our own lenses and lived experiences- or are they lost on us due to time and circumstance? My friend and I spent 5 hours roaming and still didn’t see all of it! (mostly due to conversation and dissection) A great place to get out of the heat, enjoy some enrichment, and dive into tangible concepts/sentiments that make worlds of past (and modern) slightly more tangible.

What a beautiful art center with numerous exhibits. This was our first stop during our trip to Denver in early April. We unfortunately didn’t get to see every exhibit but saw enough to keep us enlightened. I love reading about past history that still influences our day-to-day. Definitely checkout the art museum in Denver if you’re in the city.

When you come here, be sure you have enough time to go to both buildings. That was my biggest mistake. I only had two hours before an appointment, and had to rush through a couple of floors, and never got to the building with only four floors. However, what I saw was great. I was not expecting so many good artifacts and exhibits. My favorite was the Japanese exhibit called “her brush” . The artists’ stories are heroic. The way the artwork is laid out, perfect. The souvenirs within the exhibit are great! Love love! I also really enjoyed several other floors and exhibits. Here are a few pictures, but you should really stop by.

Beautiful museum with some awesome exhibits. I love how each floor is dedicated to a specific art style and culture. The layout is well done and each floor is filled with incredible pieces. It took about 3 hours to complete, across 2 buildings and a small break to eat a snack. Employees are friendly and helpful if you are lost or have questions. I would definitely recommend this museum for a family or solo outing!

Lovely 4 story museum with several expansive exhibits. Entry was only 10$ for adults in Denver (13 out of state). Entry is limited to certain time slots to help with social distancing, they do allow walk ups, but do not expect an immediate time slot, we had to wait about 2 hours to be able to enter.

Purchased our VIP Hotel package for the Monet exhibit which was amazing!!! We flew in from Idaho on Th and spent all day there Friday, Jan. 31, 2020. We had "dinner" at their snack bar, salad, sandwich and drink and stayed for their QUARTERLY Friday night party, with a DJ, art trivia, a glass of wine, and another exhibit on the third floor featuring light "Entanglement". This was a most creative exhibit. The other building was closed for renovation until 2021, so access to their great restaurant and permanent exhibits were not available. But, we so enjoyed our main focus: the Monet exhibit. I rate it a 10. Even the building is art. Great work Denver Art Museum staff, organizers, docents, and volunteers!!! Will return again.

I love the museum but right now it's not worth going. Not just because it's still only one building with a few displays for the same price as it was when it was opened, but because of the restrictions. I understand with the pandemic it's hard to clean a lot of space for safety, but there is no where to sit or have some water. You are not able to go outside for lunch or a drink and for partially disabled people like myself that is very hard. I have a hard time walking or standing for long periods and this was horrible after about an hour. It is definitely not disabled friendly right now.

We visited the museum last year and spent hours enjoying the fantastic art collections, having lunch at Palettes, and being enriched by what we experienced. There is so much to see and do. What stood out for me are the western art collections- the traditional older art like the Remington's and Russel's and the contemporary art. The collection of Spanish Colonial art is inspiring. European masters are well represented and the contemporary collections in the new building are not be missed. There are portions of each floor set apart for learning and digging deeper into the collections and eras represented, with books, videos, magazines and all sorts of other modes of discovery. One can easily spend a few days here.

I was last here a few years ago when my boyfriend and I decided the perfect Valentine’s Day date for us would be seeing their most recent exhibit- Star Wars costumes from all of the movies. It was perfect because he likes Star Wars while I didn’t grow up watching it so I don’t care for it, but I do appreciate intricate outfits, so I actually found the whole exhibit super fascinating! Ever since then I’ve been meaning to come back here, as this museum seems to always have some kind of fascinating exhibit going on, but I have yet to make it back! Hopefully this year I’ll be able to do so, as this really is a great museum!

The actual entrance to the museum was quite difficult to find as the original entrance was barricaded and the signs were misleading. Went there in July 2021 and there were 4 or 5 exhibitions at the time and access to some of the floors was prohibited. The collections were fine although I was expecting the museum to be a bit bigger. There's a storytelling studio on the first level which could be a fun activity for kids. The architecture of the building from the outside is impressive and the downtown location is also quite convenient.

Great museum. Two buildings. Lots of good exhibits. I went for the Armor exhibition. Only had a couple hours to spend but I could have easily spent 4 hours if I had the time. Their art collection includes some Monet and Renior paintings as well as one of my favorites... a Van Gogh. Really wish I had more time to enjoy it.

I visited the Denver Arts Museum specifically to see the Indigenous Art of North America section and was blown away with the collection. The representation of so many tribes across North America, historical regalia to modern day living artists work. Simply incredible. I truly appreciated Linda working in the exhibition helping me with suggestions on what to see and artists to follow even outside the context of the exhibition.

The Denver Art Museum is a “must see” for anyone visiting downtown - whether you are a tourist of Colorado resident. I find that many long time metro residents have never taken advantage of this great museum which is close at hand. Parking isn’t bad as there are may reasonably priced parking areas in close proximity. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide range or artists represented in their collection. Anyone with just a smattering of high school art appreciation will recognize many of the artists. I happened to go with a very knowledgeable artist and art history fan who was “blown away” by the scope of the collection. Keep an eye on the visiting exhibits as well. They are equally fascinating and offer the visitor well planned and curated collections.

Attended the museum on a free-pass day. It was quite well maintained and packed up with items from different countries and cultures. All the items are accompanied with brief but pertinent description which makes it easy to grasp the context and history to some degree. Overall, it is a great one-day experience and I would highly recommend.

This museum brings in some great contemporary exhibits. Don't miss the sky bridge on the second floor! I went once and completely missed that whole half of the museum. I'm out of state so tickets were $19 but went down to $16 because I'm a student. The check in attendant was very rude and made my friend cry (very condesending). We called the following day, and they said she was leaving in a week and granted us two free passes.

Saw the Low Rider exhibit with the work crew after Labor day. Beautiful displays, great history, and informed tour guides. Lost my group twice and made acquaintances/friends quick with other people until reconnected. Atmosphere was welcoming. A few doors didn't have a button, so when I was without my crew and no one around it was hard to get my wheelchair through.

It's hard to compare to the art museums of New York City or Washington DC, but the Denver Art Museum does well to boast a collection that begs one to return again and again to greet familiar friends and to search out and discover new ones. I am always so happy coming here, but then again, I'm kind of a big dork for art, so I'm sure that helps 😄

The Denver Art Museum is a great stop to make when visiting Denver. There is definitely a lot to see and you could easily spend hours looking at the art and history in both of their buildings. Excellent place for art lovers and children. Added bonus to their main art is the special exhibits that they have, like for this month’s exhibits, the Soul of Black Folks by Amoako Boafo and All Stars from the Phillips Collection. And as an added bonus, if it’s of interest to you, just a few blocks away from the museum is Denver’s Capitol Hill.

The Homer and Remington exhibition and the Norman Rockwell one were both so good and exceeded my expectations. So enlightening and definitely socially aware of our current contexts and connecting the art work of the past to what we're experiences currently as a society in America

Rockwell was on display when I went and it was cool to see that collection, but the museum itself is small. If the artist they have featured isn't for you, it's not worth it. The museums collection itself is so small and not notable. Rockwell exhibit took a little over an hour to go through. The rest we kind of walked through and were out in under 2 hours. During covid times they have the light show mirror room shut down. The price is fair for what you get to see though. $13 to see a Rockwell collection and learn about him was worth it.

This museum was very interesting. The attractions were creative to say the very least. The exhibits were all unique. There is a mirror exhibit that visitors can physically enter and see themselves reflected dozens of times over. A real play on vision. The design of the building itself is breath taking, from the inside of the building, top of the stairs...take a look down, the architecture is a work of art. This is worth the visit.

I threw up while visiting the museum and they paid me 6.2 million dollars to turn it into an exhibit so I guess I'm a modern artist now. Sadly the exhibit closed once they realized they had to clean it up. Still pretty cool to have hipsters compliment me on my "impressively orchestrated" and "impressionist" work of art. 5 stars

So wonderful to get back into the DAM! Easy and uncrowded with COVID restrictions in place. Rockwell exhibit was so inspiring. Remington and Homer exhibit was eye-opening and full of such insights and revelations.

  • 4/5 Beth S. 3 years ago on Google
So happy the museum is open again! Less crowded, which was wonderful. Great to see the special exhibits with safe social distancing. The volunteers in the exhibits were VERY picky about my mask going over my nose completely. Twice I was lost in the art of Remington and Rockwell and two different volunteers pushed their voices into my consciousness and insisted my nose be covered. Um ok. Noone was near me. The art is safe from from COVID, isn't it?

Fantastic! Had an amazing time at this museum. The Degas exhibit was beautiful. Definitely get the narrative as it is recorded in an interesting and engaging way. Stories of his life are told through the interaction of Degas and his niece. Besides the Degas exhibit there was the Stampede exhibit which explored animals in art. These peices were some of the most compelling and thought provoking art exhibits I have ever seen. Really unusual. Spent hours in this museum and came out truly impressed.

I’ve now been here twice and generally, really loved it. They have two temporary exhibits right now: Rockwell is one and a Homer and Remington exhibit is the other. Both are incredible. However, the rest of the museum is a bit too contemporary for my taste. I’ve tried to engage with the content but some just seems absurdist more than artistic. That said, I won’t judge others taste in art. Just saying know what you’re getting into. The building itself is gorgeous and the staff is always super friendly.

It has a decent permanent collection but the visiting collections of the last few years have been what makes the museum truly great. The cost is a little pricey since there are so many Free Places to go in Denver but, is worth going if the rotating collection is great since the permanent collection is just a bonus. If you are in from out of town there are other places in the city that you couldn’t experience anywhere else in the country.

Amazing! Give yourself plenty of time to immerse yourself in the many exhibits. Buy ticket online. Check in right outside entrance. *tip drinking fountains and cafe are closed (covid) Buy bottled water ($1) at pop-up shop (also where you exit). The Norman Rockwell: Imagining Freedom exhibit was fantastic, as well awakening.

  • 5/5 Rebecca G. 3 years ago on Google
Fantastic art museum with some very important messages and pieces. The Norman Rockwell through the years exhibit was breathtaking and had an amazing civil rights section at the end. Make sure you look everywhere, because they have some really awesome art pieces hidden (underneath the stairs, on the walls behind you, around corners you wouldn’t expect, etc) Everything was sanitized (the doors even do it automatically) and social distancing was followed very well. Timed tickets were required, so take that into account, but we only had to wait 15 minutes so don’t let that turn you away!

It was not crowded, but the exhibitions were modest. I enjoyed the Rockwell exhibition, but I have seen a lot of his illustrations before. It was interesting to see his war paintings. The interpretations of the four freedoms by more contamporary artists was very telling also. The exhibition of Homer and Remington focused on war paintings as well, which made me think that the curators were coordinating these two exhibitions in order to focus on conflict and death.

This is a must stop at location to check out the Norman Rockwell exhibit this summer. To see so many of his prints and then to see the original oil paintings and works in person is amazing. One of the good rooftops in Denver. It's on the fourth floor so not too high. But the lounge is really good. Jackson Pollock drink was my best. The bartender also makes awesome spicy margherita which is usually not on the menu.

  • 5/5 Mara S. 3 years ago on Google
We found ourselves here last January for the Monet: The Truth of Art exhibit. The exhibit was, of course, phenomenal. The museum itself is a work of art in its architecture. They carefully craft the layout of their exhibits so that, even if it's crowded, it's easy to maneuver around and see the art. They also had a fun area for children to get hands-on with artistic expression. Another important thing - the bathrooms were very clean!

  • 5/5 Thomas B. 3 years ago on Google
How do you rate a Museum? You only go to museum to see what it is you wanted to see. It's upon entering the museum that you discover the magic that happens within and it's all those things that you did not expect to come into your range of view and that's when you realize the museum isn't just there because you want to see a piece of art. The museum is there for you to go on an escape just like a walkthrough book. I really liked the Denver Museum had a great time and I will go back again.

The Friday Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibit was amazing. There was a great mixture of their most popular works, lesser-known pieces, and works from other figures in their lives. There was also a lot of personal information about their individual lives and lives together (but it didn't delve very deeply into their political activism, which was a shame). I loved seeing the progression of Frida's art throughout her life and this exhibit. I was also pleasantly surprised to see pieces from Siqueiros! I think the covid safety measures only made it better by giving people more space to study the art. I wish this exhibit lasted longer so I could go again! Tickets sold out almost instantly, so I brought myself here on a solo date and had an amazing time.

The Frida Kahlo art display and Mexican Modernism was delightful to behold. Though i was bothered that people were allowed to photograph the art. I feel something like this is diminished when people can view such delicate pieces from anywhere... It loses its majestic quality and the historic depth was breathtaking!

Going to the Denver art Museum has changed how I look at art forever. I now have a real appreciation for art. It is fascinating how much detail goes into some if the older paintings. Nothing a digital photo can ever capture. Every single detail is focused on as if you were actually there looking with your own eyes. I highly recommend going especially for the Berger collection. If you appreciate beauty in the world this will be life changing. (Even if you think art is boring-this collection is awe inspiring)

Alot of the museum was closed due to remodeling. What I got to see was great .It was all very exciting to see up close in person. All museums display a identity of it's personality per museums. We went to metropolitan museum in NY CITY AT CENTRAL PARK 3 TIMES FOR BIBLE TOURS and one of Jehovah's witnesses was the tour guide 😀. You can go online to book it through Oasis groups tour. It is 3 hours long. If you take a tour in the morning, after the tour you have time to tour the rest of the museum ✨😉😊💕😀😄.

My visit to the Denver Art Museum was a cultural journey I won't forget! The diverse art collection is truly captivating. Tip: Check their website for special exhibitions and parking info. The Hamilton Building's architecture alone is worth the visit. An artistic treasure in the heart of Denver! 🎨🏛️ We were late and I had to leave for my flight.
