Visited the place finally after the trip was planned 2 months ago. It kept postponing. The museum is definitely worth a visit. Especially our dream was to visit the Building Denver section on the top floor. Every Coloradan should Visit this place.

A big Squat 4 story Building. Built with a lot of stone. For me the 1st floor was a bust. There was a clothes exhibit, pass. Then I went up to the 4th floor and the exhibits got much better. I did enjoy floors 2-4. My only real issue was I thought the # of artifacts was lacking. The Denver Art Museum had 4 times the artifacts, and I'm not talking paintings and sculptures. This museum in my opinion had too many video exhibits vs real objects exhibits. That being said I did spend almost 2 hours viewing the exhibits. Overall for me this was a 3 1/2 star review. Due to I have to round it ends up a 3 for me. If you like video exhibits I could easily see it gain a star for you. Would I return? No, I much preferred the Denver Art Museum and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science!

I loved this museum. A variety of exhibits. All very interesting and educational. Visited on a weekday and arrived at opening time so it was not at all crowded. Thus, I never felt rushed and could study each exhibit's description placard. If you enjoy history, you have got to visit this museum.

Omg if there is only one museum you visit in Denver make sure it's this one! I was literally blown away. 4 floors of amazing and timely exhibits all relating to the history of Denver and Colorado. I was there for about 4 hours and although I saw all the exhibits I should have given it more time. I especially enjoyed the Colerado 100 items display. The whole museum is beautifully executed. The gift shop is spacious and worth a visit. Very impressed.

Haven't really spent much time inside since its opening quite some years and was amazed with the depth and breadth of the information presented and the interactive format here. Not only history buffs would certainly enjoy their time here, the unassuming visitors would also find this place entertaining while learning a whole bunch about Colorado. Great destination for the whole family. Highly recommended.

The History Colorado Center is a MUST-SEE!!! I cannot rave about this museum enough!!! My husband and I aren’t museum people but were looking for something to do while visiting Denver, and we stumbled upon the History Colorado Center. WOW! We loved all of the hands-on, interactive exhibits and the creativity behind the layout and rooms. Where else can you walk into a Dust Bowl era house to actually experience a dust storm?? Or stand on a pair of skis and simulate a ski jump?? It’s not all “fun”: the History Colorado Center acknowledges that there were/are terrible aspects of Colorado’s history. I think they did a great job of presenting different viewpoints and experiences that make you think deeper about others, and hopefully, “when you know better, you do better” (Oprah). Thank you History Colorado Center for creating such an awesome, immersive, educational experience!

The Sand Creek massacre exhibit was extremely moving. Several times I felt overwhelmed with emotions, hearing the details of the massacre. I’m so happy the worker at the ticket counter encouraged me to start on the top level. And if you’re reading this I encourage you to do the same. That’s where the exhibit is located. However, I would advise that you are mindful that the details are very gory, so it may not be a place for very small children. The fourth floor was my favorite; the other floors were OK. Really appreciated the chance to stop by the center to check it out.

Omg went to visit one of their expositions and was so rich in details and so touching I was truly impressed! Met with senator Julie Gonzalez and she is AMAZING. It was her idea 💡 and her invite. What an awesome 🤩 place to teach children about US HISTORY ! Phenomenal!

Was really excited to see the Ute community exhibition. So many amazing examples of indigenous peoples craft and tool making. Really appreciated the balance of both historic and contemporary indigenous people's creations. This is a lovely and thorough museum to visit. Lots of great exhibits and crucial information about indigenous peoples, Chicano / Mexican-American people and history overall.

This is a fun place for kids with interactive exhibits. It was free on the day we went. There are some fun exhibits like the general store antique car. Volunteers were very nice.

Had a great time here. The museum has just the right amount of hands on, informational, and interactive exhibits. We appreciated that the museum faced tough topics head on. Well done!

There was a lot of info need to be absorbed here. I love reading history and getting to know a new town from hundred years ago to nowadays. My mind got saturated and I enjoyed every piece of this history museum, especially the miner cave part, that's lots of fun indeed.

My parents and I visited the History Colorado Center in March 2023 and had an enjoyable time. While we were there, there was a naturalization ceremony occurring in the main atrium which was special to witness as this museum celebrates one of the great states of the United States of America. I appreciated the museums commitment to honoring all voices of Colorado and not just those of white people. You could see throughout the exhibits the many diverse stories that make up the state's history. I also enjoyed learning a bit more about Denver's history from a small town to booming metropolitan area. This museum is definitely a must visit while in town to learn more about the great state of Colorado!

Great museum! Informative and fun exhibits for kids and adults! The cafe and gift shop were an added plus. Parking wasn't an issue on a Sunday morning.

This museum is huge! You could easily spend 4+ hours here if you wanted to read through every exhibit. I particularly enjoyed the exhibit that highlighted the history of Denver development and parks. The museum is very inclusive, touching on the role that all genders and nationalities have played in our state’s history. Plenty of fun and interactive experiences for both adults and kids on each floor.

My wife loves museums and we really had a great time at this one. As first timers in Colorado, it was great to learn about a lot of the history here, including the dust bowl. You can spend all day here..Plenty of parking in the garage right across the street. Definitely stop by if you are looking for a good museum.

Lots of interactive activities and scenery, fun for kids and adults! There was a farm section with baskets and wooden eggs for kids to collect from these little fake chickens. That part was definitely for kids, but I enjoyed it alot!

Had a great experience setting up a small group tour for our company here! Loved learning more about the history of LGBTQ+ folks in Colorado from our tour guide Soleil (sp?) from the Rainbows & Revolutions exhibit (see if before it's gone next week!!) and also checked out a bit of the other exhibits. Lunch at the cafe was tasty but took a while to come out, so just beware if you're in a hurry!

So, I visited the Colorado History Museum with my school and I have to say, it was an incredible experience! The museum did a fantastic job of showcasing the rich history of Colorado in an engaging and interactive way. The exhibits were well-curated and informative, making it a great place for both kids and adults. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the overall positive experience. I would definitely give it a four-star review and highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about Colorado's fascinating history! 🌄🏛️

My family and I came here to see the sand creek massacre exhibit and all I have to say is that I feel so disrespected. Coming from native roots and still currently practicing indigenous culture my heart hurts. While inside the exhibit not only are the LODGES completely set up wrong but they called them “tipis.” Not only that but the disrespectful people inside the exhibit making fun on traditional dances and prayers. Also we are indigenous or native NOT INDIANS! Not to mention facts are completely wrong! Let me add STOP putting the derogatory football helmets and team names in exhibits. And how are the casinos on reservations prominent to Sand Creek? they don’t even begin to display the violence and atrocities of the massacre. Do better and get your facts right. You’re better off going to the actual massacre right if you want truth and actual culture. I am truly disappointed and ashamed.

Love this museum! They have so much content, we've been there twice and only gotten through one floor. Everything is so interesting and relevant. They tell whole stories and important pieces of Denver/Colorado history.

This History Center is full of Colorado history. The museum was much larger than we anticipated. Unfortunately, we didn't allot enough time to be able to see everything. This is a must visit place and plan to be there for at least half a day. Parking is somewhat hard to find. There are metered parking spaces on the street and paid parking lots and decks around the area.

Great museum we spent 5 and a half hours here the only thing I didn’t like was the future Native American exhibition. It looked like something from a video game release as someone who loves museums this exhibition definitely did not belong and was just confusing. Other than that it was a great learning experience. I am from Florida and didn’t know much about colorado at all. Now I feel like I know a great deal of the local history some of it very dark and disturbing.

I appeal to all people who had the good fortune to know the great American hero Marvin Heemeyer. It would be great if you could share your memories of him. All the day to day details would be interesting. We need a true biography of him. We need a museum. Marvin is loved, respected and honored by people all over the world.

So much bigger than I expected! Beautiful and grand...clearly a lot of $$ went into this place. Many exhibits were traditional museum style and some were children's-museum style: immersive and hands-on interactive. Kids are always free! Grown ups pay. Grandma and kids enjoyed it equally. The cafe is small but cool and food was good, creative fare.

A very cool and interesting mix of all thing Denver and Colorado! Art installations, historical exhibits, and a good bit of interactive things too! Would definitely recommend the 100 artifacts room which can give you a sense of wonder but also reverence, a very wide range for a single attraction.

This museum was by far one of the best historical museums I have ever been to in my life. All the exhibits that I had the time to visit were fun, interesting, and interactive, especially the mine section of said museum. I also really liked the Denver A to Z and 1920s Keota, Colorado exhibits that were seen at this museum, which both showcased the taste of particular culture in 19th and 20th century Colorado. Unfortunately for me, I was not able to visit every single exhibit due to time constraints regarding the others who were with me. I will, for certain, be back in the future at this museum, hopefully to visit every single exhibit at this fine museum.

My Uncle Rainer took my Mom and I here for a very nice Mother's Day brunch. I had such a nice time and the food was great! Everyone that put this event together did an incredible job. They also made sure that each Mom got a pretty carnation! I hope to go back to check out some exhibits! I didn't even know about this place and excited for a new place to visit!!
