100% recommend. Great place to stay. Parking is nice and the location is fairly central to the main areas of attraction. You can walk for an hour and pretty much get anywhere if you're up for that. The surrounding neighborhoods are also safe so it's no concern to be walking at night. The kitchen and dining area are the only minor gripes I can think of. It's pretty small because it's an old mansion.

Love this hostel! This was my very first hostel experience and I had such a great time. The hostel itself is very clean and tidy and the rules set up for was great. There is a great system set in place to be able to share the space while remaining respectful of other guests, The service was also super amazing - reception is 24 hours incase you need help with anything. Hot tub amenity was an awesome touch and it was nice. The vibe is very relaxed and the decorations were very tasteful. The location is great also, close to so many places. Will definitely come back.

I've been to hostels on several continents, and this one is fantastic. Staff is friendly and helpful. The clientele when I was there skewed classy and mature, this wasn't the rowdy frat-house vibe at all. The location is right in the middle of everything in Denver, so Ubers are cheap and if you use Lime Scooters, they're plentiful. I'll be back next time I'm in Denver for sure!

It’s always a cozy stay. The fellow housemates who stay the night are always very nice in my experience, and the staff is wonderful and helpful. The hostel is decorated, great location near the capital, and they have a cute kitty cat. 10/10 would stay again.

I loved my stay at Ember Hostel! I was there on a Monday through a Wednesday in November and had a lot of fun. The staff were delightful - shout outs to Alex, Emily, Bobby and Darby! They were all incredibly welcoming. The house is gorgeous. I had to work remotely while I was there and loved finding different nooks and crannies to do my work in. The large living room lends itself well to chatting and playing games. The place was incredibly clean, too. I witnessed the staff thoroughly cleaning the rooms everyday. The sleeping nooks are super comfy, I really appreciated the blackout curtain. It allowed me to have my light on and read without disturbing anyone else. I look forward to staying at Ember Hostel again!

As my first ever hostel experience I’d highly recommend the Ember Hostel! Perfect walking distance to great restaurants, bars and a Trader Joe’s! Very friendly staff, swanky decor, and clean bathrooms and showers at all times! Don’t get me started on how comfy the beds are. I requested extra blankets bc I’m super cold natured, and they were given to me without hesitation. There’s free coffee and tea for guests. In case you don’t want to eat out every night, there’s a kitchen area to cook/store your food. Each resident is given a key card for entry to and from each part of the hostel which makes it feel even safer. You can purchase a lock for your bunk for $5 so your items are kept safe while you roam about the city. As a solo traveler these things are very essential! The host desk has recommended for food/entertainment too! You’ll meet people from all walks of life, and that’s the beauty of traveling, isn’t it😊

The other reviews are right. This hostel is awesome. It is clean, has great vibes, and has a lot of privacy (relatively for a hostel) with private bathrooms and privacy curtains. They also have different venues for socialization like a planned mid-week hike and a comfortable community space. This place really did it right - huge props to the owners and staff.

This is my favorite hostel in Denver! The beds are comfy and private, the reception area was always open when I needed help and the location was really nice (close to Trader Joe's)! Bathrooms were clean and the shared kitchen was satisfactory. I didn't try the hot tub because it wasn't cool enough weather for that. 😁

I had THE MOST FUN at Ember Hostel this past weekend during my first solo trip. They have thought of every detail that you need to be comfortable in a hostel. The place looks very much like the pictures. The entire mansion is cleaned top to bottom every night. Everyone I met was super friendly at all times of the day/night. The location is within walking distance of anything you want to do in LoDo, car rental places, and bus stops. As a woman, I felt really safe traveling alone in this neighborhood. You absolutely won't regret staying here.

Man, I have nothing but positive things to say about this place! A neat house turned into a hostel with cool cats as staff members. Got in early, and they were very polite to let me leave my bag as I roamed town until Check In time. Met some cool travelers, the property does a great job recommending events and places to see, plus the neighborhood wasn't bad at all. The room was solid! Restrooms and showers were clean. The hot tub is an excellent touch! Nooo complaints!

For context, I had a terrible start to my trip in Denver, Colorado. Sadly, I planned my trip with someone who was unwell (wasn’t aware of this until I got to Denver) and this “friend” proceeded to kick me out of our room, leaving me stranded and alone with my luggage at 12am in the middle of Denver, for no apparent reason. Following this I stayed at a wonderful hotel with staff who listened to my story and supported me in any way they could with no complaints, no quarrels, and made me feel safe. Being that I could no longer afford to stay there, I reserved a room with this hostel. As I was checking in (which I patiently waited to do for 30 minutes by the way) I mistakenly thought the hostel would be another safe space to share my experience, as they had asked me how I was doing… The staff seemed to be receptive and asked questions until I noted that this former friend was not a registered guest of mine (as I made sure to read over the rules carefully) in the event that she tried to arrive (although I assured them that she probably wouldn’t). After already CHARGING MY CARD for the night, the woman working at the front declared that everything “sounded like a lot of drama” and that “she wasn’t getting a good vibe” from me and my experience. She then told me that I wasn’t a good fit for the hostel, again *after charging me for the room* and proceeded to “give me a refund”. After telling these people that I had been stranded and was low on money and just needed a safe space to sleep, they escorted me out with $70 less **because the refund won’t be back into my account for another day or two**. I then, once again, had nowhere to go and not enough money to get a room elsewhere. I took an Uber straight to the airport and cut my trip short… While I understand that the hostel “takes its security seriously”, the problem I have is that they kicked me out after charging me and couldn’t ensure that I would have that money back right away. They were rude and cold and value the “vibes” over humanity (although I have amazing vibes and was chopping it up with them before I got kicked out). I personally feel as though they’re “laid-back”, “good vibes”, “we see your humanity” with their rainbow flag decorations and whatnot is a total front. I’m a young Latina in a vulnerable situation and they were so quick to kick me to the curb, knowing that I had no where else to go and not enough money to spend elsewhere, because ‘I was drama’, as if I brought this whole terrible experience on myself. I’m glad others have had a great experience at this place, I hope they continue to, but just know that they’ll cut you with the quickness even after they’ve taken your money because your ‘vibes are off’, not a safe space, IMO… 💀

What a great place to stay! Very cozy historic building, met some great people during my stay, the staff was fantastic, and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. Definitely set the bar high for my first time staying at a hostel. Highly recommend if you need a nice cheap place to stay if you're in Denver!

Great hostel with a very nice aesthetic. The staff is super friendly and super attentive if you need help with anything. They also have events you can attend with a hostel host other hostel guest which was really fun. I want to shout out Blake who made for a great hostel host. If I am in Denver again, I would 100% stay

Very clean. Brand new bathrooms with shower and sink in private room. Nice curtains and lockers for dorm beds. The dorm room smelled a little like feet. Large and spacious. I asked for a second pillow sans they gave it to me. The pillows were not very supportive. Free coffee and tea. Free shelf off food. I made some oatmeal for breakfast. They didn’t have any ice available.

It was a fantastic experience! I was passing through town and was thrilled to call Ember Hostel home for the night. The decor was awesome, unique and very comfortable. The staff was amazing and had great food recommendations. Everything was very clean, there are ample showers and toilets. The kitchen is full of utensils and clean as well. The privacy curtains made the experience so much better. You've got your own little cubby and place to just relax. It was also extremely affordable and worth every single penny. I will be looking for reasons to come to Denver just to visit Ember Hostel!

Ember Hostel was such an incredible place to stay in Denver! The vintage chic design was so cool, the bed/pillow was EXTREMELY comfortable, and the amenities were absolutely perfect. The entire vibe of the place was on point, and the staff was super friendly with great local suggestions within walking distance. 12/10 recommend to anyone visiting Denver!

I was able to work remotely from here for two days. The common area was quiet, they played light music, wifi was sufficient. I was able to take my meetings with no hassle. The beds have a curtain for privacy which was my favorite feature. There are also plenty of showers and a restroom. The staff does an amazing job keeping the place clean especially during Covid times. I had a wonderful stay!

Tara & the front desk team were super hospitable & welcoming. The decor & ambiance is on point. The hot tub & the fire pit make you feel like you’re at your rich friends house. The location is 10/10 ~ it’s downtown but you feel secluded & safe. walkable things all around. Thanks for having me! will def be back :)

Where do I start… At First it was great, beautiful place to stay. Some of the staff are pretty great, but management need’s to figure it out. Their “Rules” are simply for show and not strictly enforced at all. For example: A guest while I was staying in the hostel literally called me mentally challenged and “something’s wrong with my head” and was extremely disrespectful. When brought to the staffs attention they did nothing to defuse the situation since I sadly was in the same room as the individual that insulted me and my intelligence in front of several other individuals staying at the hostel. The fallowing day for me to be pulled aside and pretty much made it like me and my friend was the problem and just apologized. Your sorry? Nothing was compensated for me having to stay in the room with a person who was extremely hostile towards me making an unsafe environment. Mind you I still had to stay one more night in the same room after that event. The rules don’t be a jerk, you will be asked to leave with no refund isn’t enforced period.

This place is AWESOME! I stayed here for one night because I had a really long layover and it was such a chill atmosphere. (I suck at remembering names) but the amazing person who checked me in was super helpful with any questions I had, they showed me around the property and gave me some suggestions for local places to thrift shop. Also as a plus their house cat is literally the cutest little thing.

Wonderful hostel! Love the vintage atmosphere. Friendly staff. The hot tub in the back is huge! Had very fun conversations with other guests there.

I've stayed at this place 3x and it is by far the best hostel I've ever stayed at. The place is such an awesome space, the decoration and couches and people there, it's just so cool. Added to that, when I've been in October it has great decor and Halloween candy! There's also a nice outdoor space and a hot tub. The rooms are lovely, super comfy beds with the great pull across curtain, nice lights in there, I always sleep so well there. It's a very close drive to Red Rocks. They also have the best showers: a rain shower in your own private room, a little cubby for your shower stuff and a bench, hook and sink on the other side. I recommend this place to anyone going to Denver. Will come again!

Just needed a place to sleep for a few hours while I waited to pick someone up from the airport. Staff were very friendly. Beds were super comfy and had a fan in each bed. Nice victorian feel. Kitty cat was the highlight of my day. Used the shower and it was nice. Didn't use the fireplace or hot tub but looked awesome. Parking is a little hard to get into but other than that it was great.

Wow... what a gem. I landed in Denver Friday with no place to stay due to friends being ill. I was able to book 2 nights here for under $80 (through hostelworld)... I could not be more impressed. The house is beautiful, very well decorated, honestly breathtaking, the bunks are surprisingly comfortable. The staff was all amazing and incredibly helpful. The hot tub was also a HUGE selling point. This was my first hostel experience and Ember has without a doubt spoiled me. I will definitely be back.

I was visiting Denver, my home is in Ft Collins. My car broke and not drivable! Tyler, site manager came to my aid offering a 50 mile tow for free. That is halfway home but at a friend”s place. Otherwise a well kept & clean historical landmark conveniently located. It is very worthy.

This place makes you get into another life time with this decoration. I’ll definitely recommend people to stay there. Everything super clean and the beds are very comfy and private. I can say that this is the best hostel I’ve been.

Best experience!! This was my first time staying at a hostel EVER and I was a little nervous going into it! The experience I had at Ember makes me want to stay in hostels everywhere I travel from now on!! The staff members were great and accommodating. The building was so quaint and clean! Everyone staying at the hostel was very respectful of each other. So many great restaurants & bars within 15 minutes walking!

I went to Denver to visit my son at college. I didn’t want to stay in a hotel. I found the Ember Hostel on Air BnB. It was a fantastic experience. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The bed was really comfortable. There are plenty of showers and bathrooms. And the entire place was so clean! I had the chance to meet a lot of people from all over the world. I will absolutely stay here again!!

Well managed. They keep cleaning restrooms and showers regularly. I have seen them cleaning at 1am night. The patio space is amazing with a heater(fire pit) and a hot tub. People do socialize a lot in this space. Perfect place to meet interesting people. They do provide free water. The location is great. Building is pretty old so you hear some creekings when you walk. Managing space is kinda tricky. That's where the big difference i could feel hostel vs hotel. I think if they could provide a locker near the washroom/restroom it might be useful.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience for my first hostel. Super friendly people, clean and had plenty of social areas. The bunk I stayed in was clean and I slept pretty well. I am definitely looking forward to staying again in a couple weeks!

This is absolutely one of THE BEST hostels I've ever stayed at, hands down! SUPER clean, everyone is very welcoming/friendly and the beds and/or pods are private (curtains) and SO comfortable. Sure, it's a bit more than a typical hostel but TOTALLY worth the extra dime!!

  • 5/5 m l. 1 year ago on Google
Don’t even think about it, just book it! The staff is PHENOMENAL. The patio/fire/hot tub was amazing. We went for an 8 person bachelorette party and rented the entire 8 person dorm room. Such a great touch to add curtains to the bunks (have never seen that in a hostel before). The free snack and fridge shelfs are also a great touch. Really clean & nice bathrooms/showers. The place is VERY secure, key cards for all rooms and entrances. The guests were all v respectable and great. Liquor store and dispensaries within walking distance, and 15 min walk to some awesome restaurants. Must go to Waffle Brothers. All-over great experience!

I could write a whole essay about why Ember is one of the best hostel experiences I’ve ever had but I won’t because I’m lazy. So much character, super clean and everyone who worked there during my stay was beyond awesome. I really felt like I was staying with friends. Yenny the cat was the cutest and I was/am pretty much obsessed with her. I’ll definitely be coming back—we usually all do :)

really good hostel for solo/small groups of friends. rooms were clean the bed and pillow are good, you have everything you need inside the bed area although it could get bit hot in summer cuz the small fan doesn't really cool the area just blows air. the staff was very nice and helped me in whatever I needed, also all the people I met there were very nice and no one was uncomfortable or inconsiderate to others in the room, at night everything was quit. area is walking distance from the capitol and the downtown area and has buses to the train station

I came in after a long drive from Wyoming, and found that this was the best hostel experience I've had from start to finish. Clean rooms, immaculate showers, and a great launchpad to explore the city from.

My experience at ember was, in a word, transcendental! I have rarely experienced more welcoming vibes and atmosphere than I had here. What a charming and fulfilling place to stay. HIGHLY recommended

Their staff was racist and the manager was okay with it because of my ethnicity. I found a bedbug in two door ways. Avoid this place if you value your self esteem and don't want to infest all of your friends and relatives with bedbugs. Update: management's response to the review confirms their racist beliefs. Further, I'm now a resident of Colorado but was not at the time of service. I left in disgusting after being called a series of racial slurs by their employee and later discovering the dead bugs. And, last, the only haters here are the ones who work for the Lodge. ***when you read the update, thanks a bunch for confirming your racism for all to see, Ember employee. Oh, and, reverse racism doesnt exist... it's just called racism. Theres nothing reverse about it.***

The cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in! The ember hostel was brilliant! The rooms had plenty of space for bag storage and additional storage was available, the curtains on the bed provided plenty of privacy, and staff was helpful. The location was okay being on Capitol Hill, quite close to a bus stop. It may be a touch pricier than other hostels but it is well worth it!

I stayed here about a year ago and just recently tried to book a room only to find I'd been put on a blacklist by the desk clerk. They refuse to provide any explanation and they said they don't even know which employee did it. These people are extremely rude. I would highly advise avoiding this place and going to hostel fish instead. And yes, I'd love a response from the owner here

Very chill and welcoming environment! Check in is very easy! Parking is something you kinda have to figure out- regular street parking. Staff is awesome! Super nice and super helpful! Hostel isn’t completely packed which was nice- I was worried it was going to be a tight squeeze! Everyone in the house is also chill and welcoming. Great environment, you could be doing your own thing or join in on a hangout! Was also very clean! Showers and bathrooms were clean, but don’t forget to bring some flip flops for the shower. Towel is provided at check in! Kitchen is clean and you can bring food! I loved the experience and will be returning!
