The front desk was very friendly and accommodating, but that’s about the only good thing I can say about our stay. The elevators have graffiti in them, the carpets in the hallway and our room were stained. The shower was a little dirty and had mildew in the corners. There were weird stains on the walls too. I will say the bed was nice and the temperature was really comfortable. The morning of our check out the elevators were broken. We had to walk down ten flights of stairs with our suitcases only to find out that the door to the lobby was locked at the bottom. We ended up wandering around the hotel with another couple trying to find a way out. We ended up finding a maintenance man who took us down and unlocked the doors (and acted like it was a major inconvenience). Very bizarre experience. It was fine for one night but absolutely not worth the $500. The building is beautiful from the outside…I’d suggest staying at a hotel across the street and looking at it from your window.

I was surprised to see this described as a luxury hotel. The room was not very clean and it smelled bad. The kitchen and bathroom floors were sticky, the bath tub was discolored, and the bathroom fixtures were outdated. However, the bed was comfy and it was quiet at night. The staff was also friendly and helpful. It was nice having the separate living space, especially since I was working from the hotel room. It was fine for a night. But not sure I’d stay again.

Very disappointed in the service and condition of this hotel. The $50 valet took over an hour to get my car. Was late for my gig because of it. Most expensive hotels have free water in the lobby while you wait for the long valet wait. The front desk guy said it wasn't his job to fill the empty water jug. The room was shabby at best. Scratches on the walls, and everything was outdated. There was no USB plug ins to charge your phone. No mini refrigerator. The cheese and fruit and drinks I brought all got warm and ruined. The sink water smelled like chemicals. I wouldn't stay here again. It took me 30 minutes waiting to check in with no line and no staff at the front desk. They are very understaffed and not one staff member seemed eager to work.

The Magnolia is in a great location close to attractions and great dining options. The hotel restaurant breakfast was excellent and the valet service top notch. My husband and friend stayed there and we’re disappointed with the cleanliness and rooms. The carpet in the hallways is badly stained, the floor my friend stayed on overwhelmingly smelled of marijuana and the sink drained very slowly. To top it off the air conditioning in our room did not work. We couldn’t get it below 75 degrees and was quite uncomfortable. We spoke to the front desk twice but they did not move us or fix it. I would not recommend staying here.

Great stay here. The rooms were spacious and we were super happy with the room for the price. The gym is great as they have some free weights, Pelton, and treadmills. They had some nice touches with free coffee in the morning, water all day, and milk and cookies after dinner available in the lobby. Parking here isn't bad as there are many options. Valet overnight I believe was around $50, while there were other garages around for self parking for slightly less.

We were greeted with complimentary wine and beverages and the friendliest staff! Our room was clean and very nice. Completely updated while preserving the historic charm. The front desk texts you so that you have a contact to text anytime you need anything. Will 100% stay again!! (Fluid Coffee Shop downstairs is wonderful also)

Nothing to write home about... I spent days researching different hotels for a romantic stay-cation for my wife and I, and the Magnolia APPEARED to offer the right atmosphere. But honestly, it is just a business hotel. A place for business men and women to stay when they are Denver. The views on the 11th floor are blah, and the sound proofing of the outside is non existing. Upon reserving the room I specifically asked for extra pillows and blankets, and there were no extra in our room. What we did find when we entered our $300 + (+ $50 a day parking) a night room was blah... It seems that once you leave the Lobby, everything begins to show its age and lack of care. The elevators are vintage, but the graffiti, scratches, and filth are plenty new. The hallways are fine, but definitely could use some love and care. The rooms are so outdated, and Care given to the upkeep of their fixtures is ridiculous for the style of hotel they present themselves to be. Next time I will spend a few extra bucks and go to the Brown Palace.

The only reason I didn't give this hotel one star is for the friendly staff. The outside looks nice and inviting, the lobby starts to tell the story, the elevators are very old, beat up, and dirty, but the rooms are disgusting. The furniture was old, dingy, and didn't match, it looked like it came from a thrift shop. The beds are lumpy. The real kicker was the sticky floors, dirty walls and furniture, there was something dripping down the bathroom door. It was dimly lit and didn't feel comfortable at all. The main door to the hallway didn't lock and the windows were cracked. I will never stay here again or recommend it to anyone. There are a lot of options downtown Denver to consider before staying here.

This hotel is basic. I was surprised as I've stayed at other Tribute hotels before and they were outstanding. To start, there was only one elevator working. The rooms need a good refresh as they are starting to feel dated. Housekeeping cleaned our room but only left one towel.

It’s a nice hotel, don’t get me wrong. I can’t quite put my finger on it but the vibe is a bit off for me. I think primarily, it’s the lighting and as a person with vision issues, it made it difficult for me to be comfortable. I know it’s an old building so installing better lighting would have been expensive and difficult but if they had at least put a mix of bright and warm bulbs in the room, it would have helped a lot. There were a lot of lamps, but they were all dim, even the bathroom. I couldn’t see to put on my make up. They have a close up mirror in the bathroom, but one with a light would have been so nice! The desk staff was really kind and positive. The decor is nice. I love the old PO Boxes on the wall in the lobby. The location is great. It’s very clean, and that’s what matters most. Would I stay again, yes. But it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Make sure to use Hoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any stay. This web site will compare countless booking websites and typically will have prices much cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This place is one of the best in this area. I've been coming here for a very long time. If you decide to stay here you won't be let down. What a wonderful place to stay! Really neat old building, with cool amenities. Super friendly staff that helped us get our heater fixed in our room. The texting system is very convenient. And who doesn't like fresh cookies and milk in the evening!

The staff were great: helpful, kind, clear communication. Location is walkable to everything you'd visit downtown, which is a huge plus. But the property is so tired... Hallway lights are too white, carpet that you would have labeled "worn" a decade ago; elevators with graffiti, scratches, floor lights of varying colors. The room decor was last fashionable in the aughts, and my mattress sank in the middle like a sad hospital bed (although my back was fine after two nights, so fine?). I hope Marriott has this one scheduled for an urgent renovation; historic properties can be so much better.

How did this become a luxury hotel? Probably the worst hotel I've been to in all my travels - the room I stayed in had busted a/c, the technician had to come 3x to try to fix and ended up just bringing fans in the room! The reception desk staff totally inconsiderate, did not even bother checking on status if their guest is okay (my stay was for 4D/5N). No complimentary water, the bathroom items (i.e. bath gel. shampoo, etc.) looked like they have not been replaced for ages! Absolutely looked disgusting. The elevators are so old, it even broke down one morning, had to take the stairs 7-floors down! Floor carpet look so moldy. Corridors so dingy. If my work takes me back to Denver again, definitely not going in back there. The only + to this stay - the bed is big and so comfy. Definitely do NOT recommend at all.

Parts of our stay were fine, but other parts were not good. Our rental van and car seat were stolen out of the parking garage and the valet attendant, Zach, was compassionate and helped us navigate with how to proceed. Because of being later in the day and not having transportation, we needed to stay the night again, but the front desk workers and manager told us that since we didn't pay to valet park ($54 per night) and self-parked ($30 per night) instead, that they could not help us or give us a discount on staying again. I felt very lost and felt like they weren't taking me seriously. The elevators were beautiful, but not reliable. Due to one of them being broken and the other two being small, there were frequently long lines to get on. Upon checkout, all three elevators were down, so we waited an hour, but they were still broken, so we had to carry down all our luggage, stroller, and baby down seven flights of “emergency exit” stairs. Thankfully we were able to get help after we asked, and Zach from valet helped us again. The lobby had a nice gathering area, the shower temperature was good, the exterior was historic and beautiful, and it was conveniently located. The complimentary bottled water in the lobby was nice.

This hotel is amazing, the rooms were really clean and it was nice to come back to the room with clean towels everyday. The front desk was nice and helpful. I also liked the option of valet. It was super convenient when going in and out of the hotel. We also tried the dinner and breakfast food and it was AMAZING. The TV in the room had the option to use our Netflix, etc. which I haven’t seen most hotels do. I would highly recommend staying at the Magnolia, the staff, room and food are all outstanding.

Staff was wonderful! However the following items need to be addressed. There's 3 elevators and only 1 worked. It's a huge issue as the line to wait for an elevator takes forever as those elevators are tiny to be able to fit a bunch of people in. Next our shower had mold growing inside it as I could visually see it as well as smell it. And the shower took literally 7 minutes from the time it got turned on till the time warm water arrived. Not fun having to wait for warm water when wanting to take a shower. The ac in the room didn't work either. I had the controls to cool and turned it to 60 and it never got below 72 in the room in 24hrs. It was very hot in the room on the 9th floor. Cleaning needs to be better in the rooms. There were stains on the bench at the foot of the bed and it's definitely not "yogurt stains" also hair everywhere. The pillows were comfy as well as bed otherwise.

Had a great stay - great location - and most importantly an extremely nice staff. A business issues came up that cut short my stay in Denver and they were very professional and super helpful in assisting with that. Very nice vintage hotel! Will definitely go back again.

Service here is really wonderful! Kory helped us get checked in a little early which was incredibly kind considering our ordeal getting into Denver. She even checked up on us after we got to our room to make sure everything was good. The hotel is pretty and central to all shopping and dining. So it’s very convenient if you want to explore! The room felt a little dingy and the carpets need to be replaced, but the tv and bathroom were really great!! Our room had a fireplace which was cool, but it was an LED one, not real. My fiancé was obsessed with the milk and cookies they offer at night (free and delicious)!! I ordered a salad at Harry’s for dinner and enjoyed it. Overall, if you want a fancy hotel experience, you might be let down because it’s a little dated in the room-however-the service really deserves 5 stars and at the end of the day, it’s still a nice hotel to stay at, with lovely people and close to everything you need!

First the staff make the hotel experience, and the team at the Magnolia Hotel exemplify the meaning of customer service. The room was clean, the bed was so comfortable, finally the bar also had great food. Best of all my dog stayed for free and was welcome at the hotel. A great stay in downtown Denver, highly recommended.

Hotel needs to be remodeled. Very run down. Needs a fitness center. Needs a bigger restaurant. Heater/cooler was stuck on 74 and would not adjust. Beds were comfortable. What food we ate at the restaurant was good but Needs to be bigger. Halls are too narrow. Not enought stairways for evacuation.

Nice hotel, a mix of vintage and contemporary vibes. Older building so the room felt a bit off level. Bar is nice, service was nice overall, great location. I would stay again.

The hotel seemed nice but was lacking in amenities. Sheets and blankets were uncomfortable. No extra blankets provided. No coffee in the rooms. Staff was nice and accommodating but for what I paid, I expected more amenities.

This hotel was okay. Upon arriving we were given a room on the 10th floor which was currently under construction. Strong chemical smell, and the contractor was under the impression that the floor was closed. The front desk moved us to the 7th floor which was much better. However, the room wasn't really that nice and the closet wouldn't open all the way. For the price of a stay I was expecting a much nicer hotel. Okay for a place to sleep at night, but it really wasn't anything to write home about.

Nice hotel and very clean/modern. It is located in the heart of downtown Denver near the 16th street mall. Be aware parking is $20 a night to park yourself in the garage or $50+ a night for valet. Many things to do nearby. We did not eat there so I can't comment on the food or drink. Bar and restaurant on site.

Paid a higher price without the experience/amenities to make it worth it. Shower lights did not work in the suite. The heating/air is very loud but if you can stand it makes for a decent white noise to muffle the traffic below. It woke me up a few times though. No breakfast, no microwave, no mini fridge, no robes, no spa. I really liked the large tub though.

A three star hotel that sells itself like a little bit higher. Was there for a conference for a night, so not a deep review. Definitely elevators is an issue, with apparently only one working out of three in a 11 floor building. Location is great, right in downtown Denver. . The Internet was not great. Parking was paid. I would have expected a little bit more for the price. Overall an ok experience

  • 3/5 Kenneth G. 1 year ago on Google
Elevators barely working. Had to use the weird stairs behind the front desk. The flights were extra tall due to the old building and they smelled like urine. Room was actually decent and a nice size. Shower drain was so slow that I worried the water would overflow the stall.

Remember to use HoteIDully.ᴄᴏm when booking any resort. This site will compare countless booking web sites and typically will have prices a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of the most well known in the area. I've been staying here for a very long time. If you stay for a few nights you definitely won't be let down. What can I say….We are still talking about how great this hotel is 5 YEARS after staying. Which made me think, I really need to leave a review! It is charming, personal and focuses on the little details. We have stayed in many upscale hotels over the years and yet this hotel still has such a lasting impact. Between the great customer service, convenient location, late night milk and cookies and their included happy hour, this hotel is sure to stand out!

Excellent stay! I'll admit that I was apprehensive about staying here because of the negative reviews. We were, however, pleasantly surprised to not experience almost anything those reviews referred to. Our room was clean, modern and very comfortable. Some reviews mention the age of the hotel as a negative, but we found it to be the perfect mix of modern amenities (updated bathroom, fast wifi, comfortable beds, etc) while also honoring its historical roots (old murals, courtesy phones, wall coverings and decor). The one slight negative was only one working elevator at times which caused a delay (about 5-10 minutes) during busy parts of the day such as check-in time. The owner, however, has explained that they are replacing the elevators and the small inconvenience would not prevent us from staying here again. We highly recommend The Magnolia!

I booked this hotel through a 3rd party website for a conference I was attending, so I chose it solely off the price and location. Overall, my stay was really great. I arrived late on a Friday (almost midnight) and had a hard time finding the entrance. You have to walk through the valet area, and it’s not my natural reaction to walk down a drive where car traffic might be. After that, check in was fast and the staff where very friendly and helpful. The room was small but clean and well equipped. My room had an iron, coffee maker, safe, small fridge, and large TV. The one thing I would have loved was a microwave, but there was clearly no room for one. Bathroom appeared to have been recently redone with a beautiful shower and vanity. The light was low in the room and bathroom. I also had a VERY small window, probably 1 foot wide, but very tall. It looked out to the valet area so I got no sunlight. King size bed was very comfortable and I slept really well. On the negative side (and the reason for 4 stars, not 5) - first, the toilet. It would abruptly start running and was very loud when I did so. This is an old building and I presume the plumbing is as well. My assumption is that it happened when others flushed their toilets. Simply closing the bathroom door at night kept it from waking me up. In my room the bathroom door was a pocket door (again, small room, it was what worked for the room design). It didn’t close well which wasn’t a concern since I was by myself, but would have been a drawback had I been with another person and wanted privacy in the bathroom. Second was that I must have been on the other side of the wall from the laundry room because I could hear washing machines starting at 7am every day and also heard them around 10pm one night. Last is that I could not find a stairwell to use. I was on the first floor (right above lobby level) and it felt silly to use the elevator every time I needed to go up and down. I saw other reviews mentioned negatives about elevators. They are quite old, but 2 of the 3 were running when I was there and I never had to wait more than 2 min for one, which I found acceptable. Also, cookies and milk every night in the lobby were a lovely touch! Overall great stay and I would recommend if you go in with the expectations that this is an old building and there will be small quirks because of that.

Had an incredible stay here at the Magnolia. The king sized bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced, I slept like a baby. Hotel staff went above and beyond to be kind and accommodating and helped make a celebration weekend so memorable and special! The lobby coffee in the morning and milk/cookies in the evening are also very nice touches. The cherry on top is they are also pet friendly with no added fees. Almost too good to be true. I will certainly be coming back!

I was expecting a nicer hotel for the cost. This hotel is in a very old building and you can feel that. There are odd smells and noises. The elevator buttons don't register when you press them. The windows are single paned so you can hear the train that comes by every five minutes. They do get points for a comfortable mattress. The last few hotels I stayed at had an indent in the bed. This one had a good bed. My main gripe is with the customer service. They were friendly, but when it gets down to actual service, they don't know what they are doing. They gave me the run around until I finally spoke to a supervisor. The cleaners did a very mediocre job as well. Altogether not an experience I would want to repeat.

  • 2/5 Cortnee G. 1 year ago on Google
This hotel wasn’t horrible, but I wouldn’t stay again. Positives are the welcoming staff, the food, coffee shop next to the hotel, and clean rooms. It’s also walking distance to great food and entertainment (but so are a lot of other hotels) The negatives are no mini fridge in the rooms, the water in shower takes FOREVER to heat up (if it ever does), the valet parking, and right after checking in someone walked right into our room. Mistakes happen, yes. And if this was the only issue I would stay again. Overall not a bad experience, but if you’re on a vacation wanting luxury on a budget, look into something else!

If there was an option to leave no stars I would! I have no idea how people are leaving these amazing reviews about this place. I booked a room here for 3 nights and was ready to leave on night 1. The hotel is soooo old I was concerned for my safety. The elevator is an actual safety hazard in my opinion! It has no sensors so when it starts to close you either jump in, stay out or get crushed! Out of 3 elevators, only 1 actually works and even that isn’t reliable. The AC in the room sound like a flight taking off because of how loud it is. I honestly had to just turn it off so I could fall asleep. The only decent thing about this place was the lobby. I’ve never had a more uncomfortable experience in a hotel.

  • 2/5 Shannon G. 1 year ago on Google
Upon initial entrance, the staff was incredibly friendly (and stayed that way throughout our stay). The lobby was very nice. There are 3 elevators for 12 floors. Only one elevator was working so you’d often have a very long wait as the elevators aren’t very big (as expected for an older hotel). Valet was ridiculously expensive at $54 - self park did not have in and out privileges. Once we entered our room, I went to use the restroom. There was a fecal smear on the toilet that I luckily had Clorox wipes to clean it with. The toilet paper holder was broken and so was the hand towel holder. The beds were comfortable. We requested an extra pillow and never received it. Overall, I was thoroughly unimpressed with the cleanliness and amenities this hotel had to offer. The 2 stars is for the wonderful staff at this location.

This is an elegant looking hotel, and my husband and I did get here like 3 hours early, and they let us check in anyway at no charge, which was fantastic. Also, they have Showtime for free on the in-room televisions, which is definitely a plus. But, there isn't a mini fridge in the room, which is kind of ridiculous since most cheap motels have them nowadays, and this is definitely not a cheap motel. Also no microwave either, which again, is something most motels have. All the coffee they provided in the room is decaf. And all the tea is regular caffeine. Which doesn't help someone who wants regular coffee or decaf tea. However, they do have carafes of coffee and hot water with a larger selection of teas in the lobby. The bed is a standard hotel mattress, not quite soft enough for my taste but not too hard either. The pillows are very nice and full. But, the central air system is so freaking loud. Like if you aren't asleep when it starts up, then it'll take you that much longer to fall asleep since it's such a noisy system. And just for the tall folks out there, the toilet sits very low - I'm just over 5 feet, and I thought it was a bit too low to sit comfortably. So if you're a tall person, keep that in mind. Breakfast in the mornings isn't included for free. It starts at $13. Overall, it's a nice place, but for the price and what I consider to be standard accommodations at this point going into 2023, it could be better.

Stars are reflecting value of the hotel. It wasn't a bad experience, but I stayed in a different hotel down the street for the exact same price before moving the Magnolia because I flew in a day earlier than planned and it was MUCH NICER. Magnolia didn't have a mini fridge, my room was literally looking directly into someone else's penthouse, there was barely any light in the room, and the bathroom was outdated. The lobby smelt very strange near the couch and I called ahead of time to ask if they had laundry and they said they did but when I showed up they said they only offered dry cleaning (not complimentary). I actually had to walk BACK to the hotel I stayed at down the street to do my laundry, thankfully they allowed me to even though I had already checked out. Overall was not bad, but not worth the price compared to whats surrounding.
