The mosque was constructed between 1747 and 1751 by the order of Qudsia Begum for Nawab Bahadur Javed Khan, a nobleman during the reign of the Emperor Ahmad Shah Bahadur.Qudsia Begum was the mother of Emperor Ahmad Shah Bahadur. Javed Khan was the supervisor of the harem and was in great favour with the begum and therefore was very influential. He was later assassinated. The Sunehri Masjid is made of bassee jung, a light salmon-coloured stone not usually used for building mosques, which gives the building a singular and picturesque appearance.

سنهرى مسجد Sunehri Masjid means Golden Mosque which is located in Chandni Chowk adjacent to Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib located in heart of Delhi i.e. Old Delhi. At glace, it looks that it is part of Gurudwara until you enter inside the mosque. It was built by Roshan-ud-Daula Zafar Khan in 1721. Don't be confused as with the same name another mosque is located near Red Fort. Compared to Fathepuri, Jama Masjid and other mosques, this Masjid is small but neat and clean and peaceful and its main part is located on first floor. It is opened round the clock. Many shops located in the main Chandni Chowk are part of Sunehri Masjid. There is no parking. Nearest Metro Station is Chandni Chowk. One can get busses to any corner from Fanwara/Fountain which is hub of bus activities. On 11 March 1739, Persian invader Nadir Shah spent several hours on the top of the mosque to observe the Katl-e-Aam which resulted in the killing of about 30,000 people. Mosque appearance has been changed from time to time. Do visit and worship...

It is one of the oldest mosques at time of Mughal empire, it is located nearby Red Fort, with this place there is a very huge parking area for two wheelers and four Wheelers. In sunahari Masjid Muslims are praying five-time SALAT (NAMAZ). Very old, good and honorable mosque in Delhi. Sunehri masjid Delhi, No words can explain the peace that you achieve by visiting such places. Peaceful place with a beautiful monument.place for worship, Vibrant culture. And deep history around every corner of this place. Do not forget to notice the beauty of the monument carved so well. The architecture is humongous. Well maintained.

Sunehri Masjid (previously known as Roshan-ud-Daulah Mosque ) was built in 1722 by Roshan-ud-Daulah. In 1739 Nadir Shah invaded India. Forts and other properties were handed over to him by Mughal Badshah Muhammad Shah. Nader Shah faced rioting by the Delhi population on hearing the news of king's assassination A number of Nadir Shah's officers were killed. On March 22, 1739 Nadir Shah climbed the on the roof of Sunehri Madjid and observed that the public was rioting and he immediately ordered the Qatl-e-Am ( massacre) of the population. Within 6 hours 20000 people were murdered inluding childred and women.

Small but quite beautiful mosque to offer prayer and find inner peace. It's a very old mosque like 300 years ago but still it is well crafted.

Sunehri Masjid (literally 'Golden Mosque') is an 18th-century mosque in Old Delhi. It was built by the Mughal nobleman Roshan-ud-Daula during the reign of the Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah. It is located near Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Chandni Chowk, which was once a royal road leading to the Red Fort. The Sunehri Masjid was built in the period 1721–1722 by the Mughal emir Roshan-ud-Daula, who was starting to rise to power in the court of the Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah. The mosque was dedicated to Shah Bhik, the spiritual master of Roshan-ud-Daulah. In 1739, the Persian Nadir Shah invaded Delhi. Standing in the Sunehri Masjid, he ordered the looting of Delhi, which resulted in heavy casualties and extensive damage to the city. The Golden Mosque, built on a platform above street level, can be reached by a flight of steps. The mosque is topped by three bulbous, gilded domes and has slender minarets. The front of the mosque has three arched entrances. The interior of the mosque is divided into three sections. Stucco decoration work in the form of arabesques and floral motifs is visible in both the interior and exterior of the mosque.

It is located near the Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Chandni Chowk, once an imperial boulevard leading to the Red Fort. The mosque was built by Roshan-ud-Daula Zafar Khan in 1721.[1] Apparently the Persian invader Nadir Shahspent several hours on the top of the mosque on 11 March 1739 to observe the Katl-e-Aam(the killing of everyone in sight) that he had ordered, which resulted in the massacre of 30,000 inhabitants. The mosque's original appearance has been altered as extensions to accommodate the faithful have been constructed. The mosque is also under threat from encroachment. It is not to be confused with the Sunehri Masjid (Red Fort) nearby, or Lahore's Sunehri Masjid.
