Derbent (Russian: Дербе́нт; Persian: دربند‎; Lezgian: Кьвевар, Цал; Azerbaijani: Dərbənd; Avar: Дербенд), formerly romanized as Derbend,is a city in Dagestan of Russia, located on the Caspian Sea. It is the southernmost city in Russia, and it is the second-most important city of Dagestan. Derbent occupies the narrow gateway between the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus Mountains connecting the Eurasian Steppe to the north and the Iranian Plateau to the south; covering an area of 69.63 square kilometres (26.88 sq mi), with a population of roughly 120 thousand residents.

If you are visiting Derbent than this is number one place to visit. Perfect view of the city from the fortress walls where you can definitely make some photos. But actually not really much do to here. Walk around, see the view, make photos and eat ice cream. More or less one and a half hour is enough for it. If you are lucky enough you can see some beautiful brides coming here for wedding photos!
