We ate here on the recommendation of our server last night in Belfast. Honestly, we never would have chosen here. That would have been a mistake. The steak was perfectly cooked, the side salad, diverse and delicious, the fish also perfectly cooked. The staff has been great, and we have enjoyed our dinner immensely. Can NOT recommend this place highly enough, this was awesome!

Pleasantly surprised at the venue. Posters on wall of old telephone exchange workers, numbers and. Phones with round dials.one of our party worked there for 18 years from 1974.food was delicious my steak exactly as I wished desert sweet ,very moreish! Served for part of time by Eve who did a good job.we had ordered and were left forgot about at one time when shift changed. Staff were very helpful though guy behind bar sorted things out and got operation going again.thanks for a delicious meal for our 90 year olds birthday.

Okay lets start with the food, it was AMAZING, honestly one of the tastiest meals I have out out this year (and I eat out a lot). I opted for a salt n chilli chicken for starters and it was like a main meal on its own, then for my mains I had their hot n spicy chicken chow mein, both were packed with fresh vegetables and lots of flavour. Then finished off with a cheeky fresh Baileys cheesecake, it was just epic! The staff were super friendly and nice, and honestly everyone you looked at was smiling, they looked genuinely happy to be there which makes you feel good being there to. Now food and staff is one thing but we all know a massive contributing factor is price. I have included 3 images with this review so you can grasp the exceptional value for money, the three dishes below cost £28.50. That's it, £28.50! How and why, I do not know lol, all I can say is if you are visiting, passing or just anywhere near the Exchange, go. You 100% will not regret it.

A must for your visit to Londonderry. This place was a bit bonkers and seemed like organized chaos. We did not have a reservation (suggest you should try and get one) so we waited at the bar for a table to come up. Tons of people (read fun people watching!) We recommend the salt and Chili pepper chicken bites, the burger, and we loved to the last one, the garlic potato cubes. Fun place with so much going on. We were there on a Saturday night in August.

Nice atmosphere and good selection of dishes on menu. I had duck breast on a bed of stir-fried noodles which was cooked to a very high standard. Close to a Pay and Display car park which is free after 6.30pm.

Long standing customer of the exchange since it opened but really disappointed last few times been in restaurant. My most recent visit tonight I left really upset with Service as we weren't even finished our starters and main courses were sat in front of us ,I told a member of staff about and explained not called starter anymore it's called while u wait so food can arrive together, just ridiculous when you are loyal customer and spending good money every time.If I'm correct as far as I'm aware everyone addresses it as starters. Just not the same restaurant anymore which is very disappointing.

Food and atmosphere was great. Have to knock a star off for bringing out undercooked prawns as part of the Surf 'n' Turf. This shouldn't have happened as a prawn is pink all over when it's fully cooked but we could see they were grey at the thick ends. However, this was quickly sorted for us so no complaints about the service as it was very good.

A very nice restaurant with great food and ambience. It has an extensive menu at reasonable prices. The people working here were friendly and attentive. It really couldn't be any better.

No bookings is fair enough. You come in and if you can get a seat at the bar, you have a drink and wait for a table. The atmosphere and ambiance is very good so sitting at the bar waiting is very pleasant. However any drinks you have at the bar, including wine you order for your meal, have to be paid for separately and not added to your overall bill. The food was good but only good. Service was lacking, not once did we get a check in from staff. We had to ask for water for the table 3 times before it arrived. Overall it was good but I wouldn't be rushing back.

Went here with a bus run from Belfast to the Guildhall craft fair , From the outside we weren't too impressed and thought we'd regret booking but I have to say the from the decor to the food was absolutely beautiful, ,the staff were very helpful, and the food was amazing, can't wait to return to Londonderry just to go for a meal here , 🥰

I have been to The Exchange a few times before and every time I visit Derry, it is my place to go too for food. I had the chilli fillet of beef in pitta bread with tobacco onions. The meat was so tender and the sauces excellent. Now if you have not tried their tobacco onions, it is a must side dish ,no matter what meal you order. Excellent meal, service and value for money. I am looking forward to returning again in June ! Get the impression I would highly recommend this place ? Definitely! 😊

Modern, chic but underwhelming. As a 1st timer visiting, I was surprised how easy going staff were. The restaurant is decorated absolutely beautifully, relaxed but chic & modern. We entered & stood wandering at the entrance/bar waiting for someone to greet us. Staff at the bar made no eye contact. A young female server walked past & slapped her friend off duty on the back & began chatting, to which my husband said excuse me can we have a seat? She led us to the back of the restaurant beside a table of 8 patrons who were very loud & there were other 2 seater tables away from this area so I was surprised. I called in advance asking what gluten free options were available & the girl advised they could make any course gluten free & even had gluten free batter. She confirmed all sauces were gluten free. When we sat down I asked ‘so everything can be made gluten free?’ - the woman said, ‘uh not really but what is it you want?’ I suggested the carbonara & the server said she’d ask the chef. The woman came back & said as I’m gluten intolerant I couldn’t eat any of the pasta dishes, or battered fish dishes or battered chicken. I was taken back, due to the conflicting info on the phone earlier. I ordered plain chicken & chips due to the fear of being contaminated with gluten as I’m severely intolerant & rarely eat out in the hospitality industry but this was our anniversary date so wanted to try at least. The food was actually delicious & we were happy with our drinks & the ambience & the food was reasonably priced. I would visit again but not on the weekend as it seemed staff were fed up & had little to no energy.

Small wait at the bar for a table as no reservations taken. Excellent service. Food was good. I had chicken bang bang, chicken on a skewer, lots of flavour and heat. Ice cream really creamy and full of flavour. Husband had katsu chicken which was average. A bit of a canteen like atmosphere/ sound even though nicely decorated. But overall a good place.

Outstanding. Whenever you need to wait for a table you know it's going to be good. Great portions and great prices. Loved it. Will be back next time in Derry! The food and drink in the pic was £20.90. Great value.

Stayed in Derry for 4 days and had dinner here twice. Do not judge by the exterior of the building. We were pleasantly surprised, it was very swanky and had a lovely atmosphere. Food was to die for! Can't recommend enough.
