With insanely tasty food, some of the best service in NI, and a stylish, relaxing atmosphere, there is no way this restaurant should be hidden in any way. I had the Ploughman's Sandwich, and it was huge, packed with flavour, and didn't skimp on ingredients as a vegan option, with a generous serve of vegan cheese. There were also so many vegan options that it was hard to choose, and I wished I were in Derry for more than a day trip so I could come back to eat here! They have a huge drinks menu with some yummy options that I wish I could've tried. The side salad had what was probably the tastiest salad dressing I've ever eaten: a dill pickle mayo, which sounds strange for a salad but was so moreish that I ended up ordering a salad to take home for dinner just so I could eat some more of it. The service was a wonderful cherry on top: my waitress was warm and friendly, and went above and beyond with my to-go order, packaging everything separately to keep it fresh until consumption, carefully sticky taping the dressings so they didn't spill, and even handwriting me a note about the best way to reheat and flavour the seitan. It was so sweet. I don't come from a tipping culture and tipping isn't the norm in NI, but I certainly tipped here as it was well deserved. The location is central to the town, just above the main statue and about a 5-min walk from the town hall and square. They have well set-apart tables so you can have privacy and stay a bit Covid-safe. They have a big, wheelchair-accessible toilet. All around fantastic, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

I really can't recommend Hidden City enough to vegans in Derry - the VLT and seitan teriyaki sandwiches are both long-time favourites of mine, and the side salads are delicious! The service is always wonderful, you won't meet a friendlier bunch of people. If you're visiting and you only have time for one lunch in Derry, make it Hidden City. ❤️

Spent the evening at Hidden City Cafe. Music by Anthony Toner, excellent local craft beers and exceptional food! The atmosphere was warm, relaxed and friendly. It's lovely to be made so welcome by the proprietors and their happy, professional and committed staff. As for the food... I had the Chicken Box Bowl while my wife had the Guac Box Bowl. Astonishing. The tastiest, most interesting and beautifully presented food in the city. Strongly recommend!

Great cafe/bar/restaurant/space. I like my Ulster Frys and chip suppers and have been hitting them hard on the trip home. That said, I really enjoyed lunch here today with the family. Healthy, tasty food. Quality produce. The soup of the day, curried carrot with coconut was delicious and the 'barista' art on the soup cute ! My niece thought the chicken burger and dirty fries were good and mum and dad enjoyed their sandwiches. Lovely spot that hits the spot. Warm, helpful service. Recommend.

We totally enjoyed our experience here. Beautiful food, my 7 year old says that they have the second best fries on the Island, next to our homemade fries. Loved the quaint atmosphere and the staff. Great job guys! Thank you for feeding us on our stay in Derry

What a beautiful establishment! Hidden City is a colorful venue with a wide range of vegetarian and vegan selections, with gluten-free options as well. The menu is highly adaptable and the staff is attentive to those needs. Even the takeaway was superb. Side note: takeaway sandwiches don't come with side salads or anything. They're on the smaller side, but still worthwhile! Ordering two, or adding a cup of deli deliciousness would make for a fuller meal.

The Hidden city cafe is a snug little establishment not from from the Diamond in Derrys city centre. The setting is quiet and intimate. We had breakfast here recently. The food was pretty good, but we waited approx 20mins to be served the food, which comprised of the Works (A fry...but no bacon surprisingly) and some scrambled egg. Coffee and orange juice were served far prior to the food and coffee was quite cool once the food arrived...just a small point but coffee was very nice. Service however was excellent with staff polite and attentive, even offering a bottle of water to the table (Other cafes and restaurants should take note). Overall, I only had minor niggles that prevented the five stars...need to pay close attention to cafe furnishings...the first chair I sat on, the cushion was completely gone and had to be swapped out. Price wise, no more expensive than the Pickled Duck or Primrose, but service much better. We will be back to try the evening menu and cocktails!!

Had an absolutely superb lunch. Good city centre location for healthy and convenient food. Really enjoyed the vegan selection, my partner had chicken which was also nice. Had the best pot of oolong tea. Highly recommend. Can't wait to come back and try out the evening menu!

A great find. Arrived at 11am just in time for last orders on breakfast. Husband had The Works (no bacon) but probably could have ordered it. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Lovely breakfast, friendly and welcoming staff, lunches looked really fresh and colourful. Vegan options really available.

Perfect brunch stop. Read the very favourable reviews before deciding to stop while in Derry and we were not disappointed. Staff could not have been more friendly or engaging and the food matched that. Breakfast burrito was superb – spicy pepper mayo a great addition – and the salmon and scrambled eggs were brilliant too.

We enjoyed a couple of sandwiches here. It was great to find a place that caters to vegans and those who are gluten-free. The food was great and the staff were friendly. However, we felt as though we had been forgotten - we ended up having to go and get our own menus, going to the front counter to have someone take our order and then have to go back to the counter to settle our bill.

We had breakfast at Hidden City Cafe and enjoyed it so much we got take out for dinner. We've been travelling and have found a lot of restaurants are not very veggie forward. After a few days of fried foods and pub grub this was a welcome change! The soup was so yummy and the salads were really good. It was nice to have some healthier choices. I'm sure we'll stop in again before we leave Derry.

Super delicious Vegan VLT and Teriyaki Seitan Wrap with dirty fries. We arrived 20 min until closing and were made most welcome even though they had started wrapping up for the day. Justin the chef and owner had lots of time for us and gave us a great history snapshot of the area! Thank you 🙏🏽 we will be back!

Delicious vegan and vegetarian breakfast! The coffee was excellent for my husband and he is an aficionado. My green tea was perfect. We had the breakfast bap, a warm/ fresh croissant, the chickpea wrap, and an apricot cake between us. Everything was simply delectable! Go eat here- you won’t regret it. It made our day in Derry!

Lovely, somewhat alternative café/informal restaurant. Healthy food, many vegetarian/vegan gluten free. Real salads, a very refreshing change from all the fried stuff that is so usual around here. Not that there is no fried stuff available: the dirty fries look amazing! Music: The Clash etc.

Very disappointing. Smashed avocado on toast! I have butter thicker than the avocado they put on the toast! Also the £10 black truffle scrambled eggs. I couldn’t even taste truffle. Nice staff but very poor value for money. Felt like we’d been ripped off. Thank you for your response. What it boils down to is that you just need to put a bit more ingredient on your meals. I don’t mind paying a bit extra, I just want a decent amount of the food I order. There was probably half an avocado on that toast. Just use a full one and put 50p on the price. Then you’ve got smashed avocado, not spread avocado.

Absolutely the best burger I have had in my life. Flame broiled outside. Clam chowder was good too.
