This is not a museum in the traditional sense. It's more of a Gangster lecture or perhaps Gangster "experience". Yes, there are a few historic items here and there, but it's mostly a guided "tour" where the guide talks for about 5 minutes and then a video is played for another 5 minutes. It's not a bad experience--I certainly learned some things and the guide was nice--but it really isn't a museum experience. It's not a must-see, but it would be fun for those who enjoy listening to lectures.

We visited the Gangster Museum of America on a weekday in June, 2023. We took an afternoon tour. They did have discounts if you were a veteran or senior. So that could save you some money. The tour begins with you entering through a door that looks like a bank vault door. You then go through a series of rooms that have a theme pertaining to Hot Springs history and how Gangsters have connections to the town. You have a narrator who tells you a short story. Then you watch an accompanying short video. After the video and more possible narration, you are asked if you have questions or want more time to take pictures. They do allot you time as our tour was delayed because of folks taking pictures. The problem is that it seemed like everyone was in a rush to get through it. So you felt pressured to move on and not delay the flow. At least it seemed that way to us. I tried to take pictures upon entering or leaving rooms. Our narrator was quite good at what he does. It probably would have been better if he just narrated the whole thing. Maybe use the video or pictures for effect. But he did a good job. The museum itself, seemed a little high priced for what it was. To us, it did not seem all that much like a museum. Yes it had some items. But they seemed more like props for the show, rather than museum pieces. Yes we enjoyed the show. But we felt it was over priced and really wasn't really what we would consider a museum. To us, it was more of a tourist exhibit consisting of basically, a show using props for visual effect. I think it was worth the time. But as I said, I think it's over priced.

This place is fantastic. My wife and I stopped in here because being from Chicago ourselves, gangster history has always intrigued us. Our tour guide was named Hayden, who even though was only on his second day of doing them was absolutely awesome. Dana in the gift shop was sweet and had such a great personality. The items there are also priced affordably, we grabbed a few things. Can’t go wrong here, and you’ll learn so much about the history of Hot Springs. Thanks for having us. Don’t forget, if you do the tour, you get a percentage off of anything at the gift shop.

We enjoyed our tour, the guide was excellent. Honestly if the guide were to have explained everything versus the videos I would've enjoyed it more. He had an energy about him that was infectious. He did a great job. I would recommend anybody to come here. I wanted a hat but found the same exact hat significantly cheaper elsewhere.

The tour was better than expected. Our guide was a fountain of knowledge and a hoot to boot! Anyone enjoying history should take the tour. It lasts about an hour and includes an extensive collection of period pictures, artifacts and other bits and bobs. The videos are well made and informative.

Do this first when you arrive in Hot Springs. We started here and learned the history and why the town was built. The bath houses, gangster, gambling, baseball, and prohibition. Lots of history here. Videos with plenty of seating allows you to enjoy the experience. You found out where to go and what to see. Nice book store and photos. Wish we had more time to read all the items. Real artifacts from guns to casino tables are in the museum. You are guided to each room. They have bathrooms before you enter. They have water for sale, but it is cheaper a block away. You go on a tour that is guided, so you have to get tickets for certain times.

This place is packed with amazing memorabilia and information about gangsters and Hot Springs alike, it was completely unexpected! From the street it doesn't look like much, but once you start the tour, it's unbelievable how much is behind their doors! I'm a huge history buff, and I was blown away with how much new information I learned on the tour. There's even a room that detours from the gansters, and goes into the history of Major League Baseball hosting the league's original Spring Training in Hot Springs.

The Gangster museum was very fun and interactive. It is a fun history of the town and how it was connected to many places through people of power. This would be enjoyed by older children to adults of all ages. It is a guided tour with video clips in each room.

Everyone in town recommended the tour, and it was absolutely worth it. The curated artifacts were great, and our tour guide did an excellent job. Be sure to note the tip hat on the way out, because I almost missed it and I think everyone else on my tour did!

Sooo much history in Hot Springs that we had no clue about! This was quite the experience from start to finish! You won't be disappointed if you enjoy a little history or gangsters! The history surrounding this city will shock you, well maybe it won't but it did shock us. The guy leading the tour had awesome energy and was very well informed on the subject matter as he was a native of Hot Springs. Each room was themed about what was going to be learned. They have a lot of antiques/artifacts from that time period. This is definitely a must see for all gangster aficionados! We definitely enjoyed it!

This was a neat little museum full of historical information. It's $15/person (a little over-priced, imo) but worth visiting. The tour guide was delightful. You walk through different areas of the museum and watch videos about the highlighted gangsters and baseball spring training camp photos. There is a ton of things to look at, for sure. There are a few chairs to sit in but depending on the size of the group, you may end up standing. It was cool to learn about Hot Springs' interesting checkered past. We enjoyed the visit.

If you love museums and gangsters then this is your tour. Lots of intriguing information about the Hot Springs scene, how it evolved and how it all ended. We loved it.

So fascinating! A very reasonable expense to learn a lot about a big piece of history. Brendle (sp?) was a fabulous tour guide. Give that girl a raise! So good! Definitely a worthy investment. Plus, it's a fun way to escape the heat!

Great tour guide and informative videos teaching visitors about the history of the town. I would highly recommend making this place your first stop so you know what you are looking at while visiting Hot Springs.

This was not exactly what I expected (I expected more artifacts & less presentations) - but it really was worth the money!! There were multiple exhibits, each with a video screen to watch clips and the story behind each room. They had a mix of famous gangsters & local gangsters which was very neat - all that had been to Hot Springs. Definitely a bit outdated but still interesting. My favorite room was the casino room! It was neat.

Very informative museum about the history of what made Hot Springs, and the people it attracted from Gangsters, Politicians, and Baseball teams. Al Capone is the main highlight but also refers to Bonnie & Clyde, Dillinger, Karpis, the Bakers, etc. Dave the tour guide was very good.

Pretty cool, learned a lot I didn’t know about Hot Springs. The entire staff is extremely nice and knowledgeable of the history behind the museum. I recommend going if you’re in town visiting. Located in the middle of pretty much everything.

Came here on a rainy day during our trip. I knew a little about the history of the area before visiting, but this museum, combined with an actual tour guide and videos, made for an interesting, well-informed visit. I left wanting to learn more from the tour, which, in my mind, means it was a successful museum. I recommend this museum for everyone who likes to learn history regarding gangsters, robbers, and baseball.

I visited the gangster museum in August. It really isn't that much of a museum but rather more informative of the town's history. The narrator was nice but it seemed like we were rushed through the rooms when we were allowed to take pictures.

Interesting history about Hot Springs area. I wish there were more artifacts vs. mostly pictures and papers. The TVs should be bigger since every room you watch a small video. A couple more chairs as well since some rooms had more than others. All in all, it was very cool to learn the history, esp into baseball. Be nice to have magnets for souvenirs. Recommended.

What a great museum! Our guide was entertaining and informative. We learned so much about the history of Hot Springs. The only thing I wish they offered would be a map to the gangster and madam's homes.

My husband and I really enjoyed the museum, there's a lot of history in the museum, including Hot Springs history itself on the walls in the gift shop. Our tour guide was the best, very comical. While there we met Robert Raines (the director) he was a joy to talk to he has a lot of historic information to share answered all our questions and made us laugh. My husband bought a beautiful hat at the gift shop, the ladies behind the counter are very knowledgeable about hats, and fitted my husband with the hat in the photo. I on the other hand my have found a new man! 🥰

Very informative tour. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and make history very interesting! Cool exhibits such as 1 of three death masks made of John Dillinger. Would recommend. Maybe not for small children though.

I was really looking forward to seeing this on our vaca to Hot Springs! The tour and tour guide were fantastic! Lots of great stories and information that we just didn't even know about the Hot Springs area. I would highly recommend taking the tour

Thorough history during the tour and videos but not enough time to look at all of the pictures. We were in a large group and felt rushed to listen to the tour guide and watch the videos in each room. Very nice gift shop.
