Going to a farm-to-table restaurant you can expect the prices to be high and the plates to not be so big! This is well expected before you visit. You know that feeling you get after you eat, especially after eating out... that full stuff feeling that kind of makes you tired.. not here at Republic Tavern, the food tastes like it was picked right from the ground within moments before it was cooked for your dinner. Service was outstanding, item menu was exciting, all around fabulous place. I do wish there was more onions in the brussel sprouts for proportion although that may just be my personal preference ;)

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant! We did the chef's tasting and the wine pairing. They were very generous with both food and wine. We couldn't eat another bite and had leftovers. We loved the food! Everything was flavorful and unique! Their staff is top-notch! Chris was our waiter, and he was fantastic! Every staff person we encountered was friendly and accommodating. We had such a wonderful experience that we came back two days later!! I have recommended this restaurant to everyone I see! Anyone in the Detroit area need to experience this restaurant!

Great service from Chris! Thankful for a space to get together and celebrate my friend's birthday. The food was good and priced for it's higher quality. I recommend everything. The chicken was partially raw. After showing it to the server he came back and offered a free dessert. This seemed inappropriate for raw chicken as it should immediately be refunded and then courtesy after that. My friend did feel sick afterwards as well. Otherwise a great experience. Draft beer wasn't available at the time either, which was a little sad.

This place far and away exceeded my expectations. The food was Wonderful! After eating I couldn't believe how low the prices were. While I hear their menu changes often, currently the Pork shank, the Bronzino, and the scallops are all Incredible. Seriously. Some of the best I've ever had of all three. There were 3 of us at dinner so we went with the chefs testing menu. It was more than worth it. We left more than full. I don't think I could recommend this place more. Now it was my first and only time. But I will be back to see if this was a fluke or the standard.

Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. We decided to do the tasting menu and it ended up being a great value and a great way to try a little bit of everything! Everything was absolutely amazing, my favorite course was dessert which included a homemade malt ball and a chocolate dipped chocolate chip cookie.

Pricey. Vegetable dishes and bread were outstanding. Light on the gin in the gin and tonic. Not all food comes to the table at the same time as it is prepared as it's ordered. Sharing of dishes is encouraged by staff. Unique combinations of food. Cool building.

The atmosphere and service was great. The food was pretty good. If you’re a steak lover, I wouldn’t recommend the Steak as it was pretty tough...but tasted great!

Republic is a classy place with unique food that changes on a regular basis. Our meal was so tasty and rich that we couldn’t really finish it all, and had less than the recommended amount of dishes. Cocktails and beer menu could be better. Overall, good experience!

Our last visit was for a wine tasting, held upstairs. Every course was inventive and excellent. One of the best we've ever been to. The restaurant, in the century old Grand Army of the Republic building is one of our downtown favorites. What a great way to save and display an historic building

Amazing food, every dish we had from the ploughman's plate to the beet blondie was fantastic. Service was great, our server was extremely helpful and helped us narrow down a couple choices based on our preference. We had the beet gnocchi, mushroom cashew risotto, porchetta, and beef heart Bolognese, and they were all fantastic. We also had multiple top notch cocktails and 3 desserts - the beet blondie, berry torte, and smores. All were great. A little pricey but that's the cost of quality, in my opinion. One of the best meals in a long time.
