Lots of mixed reviews here, but we had a great experience. Fun, lovely atmosphere. It’s a little bit like walking back in time with the decor. You can almost imagine seeing Marilyn Monroe at the bar. There was a female bartender there when we went and she made exceptional cocktails. The espresso martini was especially top notch. The space is rather small. We didn’t stay too long and as we were leaving it was filling up. We did not make a reservation- but I can definitely see why you probably should.

I went here for my birthday with a friend and it is so cute. Perfect little cocktail bar. Amazing drinks. Great for going after dinner or a show for a nightcap. The service is great and they have snacks if you get hungry. The lobby is so cool. They have a bed out there ....lol

We had a wonderful time getting drinks here before dinner. I loved that Sean is an excellent bartender that can make what I'm feeling/looking for even if it isn't on the menu. I would totally return here again and again to try something new. Even though we had a reservation, the space is small and it only takes 1 group (especially if they are loud) to really change the mood of the place.

Yes, Yes,YES!!! Everything about this bar is stunning. Thank you Amber for helping make it a memorable experience for us. I really enjoyed the cosmopolitan, and the hubs had a delicious old fashioned. We were guests at the hotel, and just stopped by for a drink on our way to a concert. You do need to have reservations, the place was packed and very hard to get a seat. *must mention with the exception of Amber if you are turned off by pretentious hotel staff this is not the place for you.

Drinks were amazing!! Most were about $16 so pricy but for a night out with friends very cool experience. The location is small so either reserve a spot or pray you somehow can get in. The host (male, dark hair, dark eyes) was the nicest! We got there when it wasn’t yet too busy and he sat us down right away and told us we could stay for an hour until the table which was reserved was needed. So he made it a great experience by being honest yet super friendly and accommodating.

Great little place hidden inside of the Shinola hotel. Great location and area, close to lots of other bars an hotels in the area. Nick was our bar tender and the waitress was a very nice lady with great suggestions. Our favorite was the one with the raspberry in it (tequila based), but tasted like cotton candy. Will return soon, Thanks!

I made a 4-person reservation days in advance to host out-of-town friends at The Candy Bar. We built our day around our 6:30 reservation and arrived promptly. When we got to the hostess stand we were told that there was not space for us in the actual bar and we would be seated in the lobby. This is completely unacceptable for paying customers with reservations. The hostess was not apologetic and we did not receive a discount or any other compensation for their “double booking mistake.” I will not be returning to The Candy Bar in the future unless seating is guaranteed.

We were on a night out with friends and had a great time at this bar! Service was great, they also offered to make any mocktails based on ingredients we most liked.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Siren, and we were in the Candy Bar every night. Staff was all super friendly, and they are all extremely talented at making well-crafted and very bold cocktails. Setting Sun, for example. A mezcal-based invention with thai chili rum tincture, miso carrot cordial...come on.

Such a cool atmosphere. Had the cocktail called “A fine pear”. Best one i’ve ever had. Would 100% recommend trying this place out at least once. Drinks are pricey, but worth every sip.

It was just, OK. The drinks were good but really small and expensive. Our bill was well over a 100$. There were no candy drinks. I was told they will eventually be on the menu. The atmosphere gave off a good vibe. I think I just had much higher expectations. Also they should offer chocolate covered strawberries etc to eat while drinking.

The place is okay. Very tiny, needs a little more work on their customer service. Some of the staff were really rude to me and my friends. We waited around 30 minutes for our drink. Our server took forever, to get our bill. I even had to raise my hand & make eye contact with my server; however, the person didn’t even bother to come. I honestly hate raising my hand to grab my servers attention, but we waited so long. I don’t think it needed a one star because the ambience was very peaceful and nice. Love the decorations, reminded me of The Shining. If you ever do come here, PLEASE MAKE A RESERVATION!

Adorable hotel, vintage pink bar in the back! No food might be some desserts but making a reservation was the best to get in quickly. The atmosphere is so relaxed and you feel like you’re in your own little world. The drinks are fantastic with unique names and a great variety. It’s the cutest place for a drink by yourself or with a friend or two. I will definitely be visiting more often.

Came in for a quick drink. We both tried a Blue Ivy & loved it. The space is intimate and beautiful. We were able to be seated right away on a Sunday night but I recommend reservations on the weekend. We’ll be back!

This place is funky, fun and an amazing place to pick up a drink. Beware, it’s small and can get crowded cast. The entire hotel had a vibe that is so unique, the bars pink decor and jaw dropping chandelier creates an atmosphere I would come back to all the time with the girls if I lived here. The drinks are also very good. I had the matcha fizz, which was easy to drink and different than anything I’d had before. My husband had the Diablo and enjoyed his as well. Overall, I would try to check this place out if you can! Might want to try to get a reservation on a weekend.

Visited the candy bar as I am a Florida native and my best friend and I visited Karl’s one day two years ago when the candy bar was not open. This time we planned our visit to the city around Candy Bar and even booked the penthouse suite. When we came down to our reservation I entered the bar only to have the bartender scream at me they I’d have to go outside and they would meet us there. This was extremely embarrassing and they took 20 mins to “meet us outside” Once we we’re finally seated it seemed as if they did not want us there and the place was not at all full (Sunday night). I have never felt more unwelcome from a bartender/hostess in my life and you’d think they’d be a bit more welcoming seeing that I spent well over two hundred dollars there. I would also like to add that I am a flight attendant and I have had drinks on every continent-except Antarctica 😉- these drinks were by far the most upplayyed and most pricey terrible drinks I have ever paid for… and this was on top of the service. We talked to a couple sitting next to us who informed us that the valet service had lost their KEYS and took two days to find them. Upon their return to their vehicle the car smells like marijuana. The hotel staff at the siren and the room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful. I will never return to the candy bar and my girlfriend was severely let down by the Candy bar after two years of having to listen to her talk about it. Do not recommend. Stay away!

Had a super fun experience while staying at the Siren! We made reservations for 10:45 so we could hop in for a night cap after a Broadway in Detroit show. We ended up with more than 1 nightcap because the drinks were that wonderful, and not to mention the bartenders and Amber were so friendly and fun to talk to! Can't wait to come back.

I don't know if the AC was broken or what but it was a billion degrees in here and sitting on velvet cushions didn't help. Cute place and drinks were good, but there wasn't much variety in the pricey specialty cocktails. Also, I didn't see a single piece of candy which seems like a missed opportunity. No reason to return.

General disappointment. They believe they are making craft cocktails and providing unique service. The reality is they have two mediocre bartenders, mediocre to low class service, and a hefty heaping of undeserved arrogance. Not a place for the people. I’d be happier with a Coors light at Applebee’s than drinking their silly pretend fancy cocktails with sad service.

Ambiance is great, I love the Siren Hotel, I love how PINK everything is! However the menu drinks have been consistently bad over the years. I really cannot figure out why and neither can my friends. You are much better off ordering a standard drink than something off the menu.

I was excited to go after seeing pictures online…the ambiance is very outdated and does not look like the pictures on their website. Drinks were mediocre. Staff was pretentious. I would not recommend. Lots of better options in Seteoit.

Very pink bar with a great vibe to it. Really fun and friendly staff, and the cocktails were great too. Note that it has pretty limited seating, with maybe 8 seats at the bar with several booths and small tables. Cocktails came quickly and all had a unique taste!

This place is all about the vibe and aesthetics. The cocktails are tasty, Instagram worthy, and decently priced for a well-crafted cocktail. Highly recommended for a first date, friend date, and married couple dates. A cozy and glamorous gem in Detroit. Truly dreamy.

Okay, not well described on the website and it was hard to find; also it’s super weird there’s no phone number listed to call. But alas. Turns out Candy Bar is inside The Siren hotel, but by the time we figured that out, we were a little late for our rezzie. They were really nice though and it didn’t matter. Drinks were really great, about $15 each; no food. People were friendly, definitely recommend a rezzie as it is very small.

I was disappointed in my experience here. It's a very small bar, which is not a bad thing. The vibe was okay but could have been better with all of the lights on like they are in the pictures posted (the chandelier wasn't lit). Service was slow for there to only be maybe 10 tables to serve to and a few people working. Ended up leaving and going to the Queens bar, which was a better experience.

Last stop for the evening! Tom was kind and accommodating. Sat us at a great sofa location to relax and have our last cocktail! The atmosphere is warm and stylish. Yes check it out and meet the very professional team!

Was out with a couple girlfriends, one requested a visit to Candy Bar since she had never been. We knew the chances of getting in without a reservation were slim to none given it was a Saturday night, but figured it couldn’t hurt to take a peak. Every seat was accounted for when we arrived, but shortly after, Amber took care of us and said we could slip in for a quick drink in between the other reservations. Everything worked out great and my friends loved their visit. Thank you again to Amber & the Candy Bar staff for a lovely visit as always!

Fabulous atmosphere, even better cocktails. A perfect intimate setting in a quaint hotel lobby. If you’re looking for a nightcap and bar hopping in Detroit while also looking for a delicious hand crafted cocktail, I would suggest stopping in to Candy Bar.

Really 3.5 -The bar is very elegant. If you have been to the Bad Luck Bar or Johnny’s I would recommend visiting this bar at least once. The service is mixed depending on whose working. The cocktails are decent. This place is quite fabulous in it’s own way, but I believe the drinks need more flourish and/or flair(presentation) especially considering their prices and what their competition offers in the same price range. I do think the cocktail menu should be updated with some newer options to show a better variety. At this point they have no issues with traffic due to it’s aesthetic and the fact that it’s connected to the Siren Hotel. It’s nice to have a nice bar inside a trendy hotel. For that reason I think it will stay busy for a while, but as other competitive bars(including high end bars connected to hotels) continue to grow I think they may need to eventually introduce some changes. In relation to its size, yes it is small but most exclusive or high end bars are. In addition there are bars in Detroit that are smaller. I will say it is very whimsical inside. It is vintage with mid century influences and a lot of pink. The aesthetic itself is worth a visit. You may luck out with a seat or two from walking in but it is usually hard to get in that way even with a small party. I would highly recommend making a reservation well in advance. I will say that I have had complications with reservations in the past. I do feel like some parties are rushed because other parties linger too long or the restaurant double books. It’s important for that reason to book well in advance and call the day of as well. I will definitely go back if I’m staying in the hotel or in the area. Though I wouldn’t go out of my way as I have done for other places.
