Loved this visit back to where it all started. Walking down the street ran into owner who was on his way back to the restaurant/bar from a supply run. He was so friendly and engaging with my family. We shared with him that we were bring two of our children back to where it all started for my wife and I. Our first date was a rained out Detroit Fire Works display that led us to seek cover in Andrew's on the corner... got a nice booth in the corner and enjoyed the scene. Later, the clouds cleared and the show went on... I guess you can say we saw fireworks on our first date at this historic over 100 year old Detroit land mark!

Hidden treasure! What a gem of a local hot spot. Stopped in for dinner and a brew. Shrimp & Perch Basket was a delight. Lightly battered, plump shrimp and generous cuts of freshwater perch fried to perfection. Paired with a Detroit brewed - Cornerman Red Ale, I was not disappointed. The service is also personal and top-notch. Luke gave us pleasant conversation and wonderful local stories.

This place has it all! Cooks know what's up, and produce some exceptional food, especially the specials. This place is full of history. The old man will tell you anything about the Rivertown area, and how it was when he grew up there. He'll also tell you about the glory years back in '97 when the wings won the cup along with any famous athlete or figure that's come through the bar. A couple of the bartenders are pretty darn good looking too. Whether you're into guys or girls this place has a bartender for you!

Right downtown by the river. Bar food was very good & would recommend their "famous" lake Erie perch sandwhich. Stick to beer and wine when ordering alcoholic beverages, so to minimize chances of being disappointed with a cocktail that may not be your liking. The service was good, but Staff can be overwhelmed if it gets too busy. (Expected during these times.) Met friendly owner who said business had been in the family over 100 years!!! Now that's saying something.

Solid bar food, reasonably priced, decent spot for this neighborhood. I would recommend it over Atwater next door.

You know how it can go today going out to eat. Slow service, small serving sizes and more cost than you hope for. But you won't find a better restaurant, food or service than Andrews.. You will most likely meet Tom the current owner from this long time family owned restaurant in Detroit. The food quality is their pride and it shows. The Perch Fish is fresh with a fair amount and very reasonably priced. The burger was one of the best I have had in this town. Shaded afternoon outdoor seating and a classic bar and dining area in. You will be very happy you went here. If Jarod is your server you will be well taken care of. Great place to grab a meal. Especially if you also are going to take in a show at the Aretha Franklin the theater or the river front park right next to Andrews. Jack Stone

There's a smallish menu here, but a list of specials that rotates. I got the steak tips in zip sauce and did not regret it. Savory to the last bite paired with garlic bread.

Great place with a relaxed vibe. I went with a small group of coworkers after we biked the Dequindre Cut and the owner set us up with a group order of a variety of food. Everything was good (don't sleep on the chicken tenders, I swear it's not childish to order them) and it was great to hear how the bar has stayed in the family for 100 years!

Loved the bar and the fish and chips. This place deserves our support. It's family owned and been around sine 1918. Go grab a beverage and a meal. You won't be disappointed!

Top tier fish sandwich and cute little outdoor seating close to the riverfront.

Food and service were top notch. Owner was there and very friendly and engaging. Great variety of food. We had a group of about 14 boys plus adults, and we all were served very quickly. Highly recommend this as a stop for you!

We've been coming down here for years. The Walleye bites are our all time favorite. Unfortunately, the crowds have diminished since Joe Louis has shut down. The bartender was SO SWEET and attentive. We'll be back soon.

Great location and atmosphere, but food was subpar. I ordered the turkey burger which came with fries and slaw. All condiments were on the side. I thought it would be of better quality considering the presentation of the place, but they used pre-made patties that weren't good and the bread was so dry it was flaking off in my hands. The fries didn't even have salt and were very bland. Turkey burgers can be delicious, but they made little to no effort to make this sandwich stand out. There was hardly salt/pepper on the sandwich. I didn't even taste the slaw after getting into the sandwich and fries. Disappointed.

The food was surprisingly good. I ordered the double cheeseburger, which was very satisfying. The tomato soup is also recommended. Definitely pay this place a visit if you’re downtown and looking for some quality bar food. They have parking behind the building

Went to Andrew’s with my Mom and I thought it was fantastic. We both had the Perch and it was some of the best Perch I’ve had in Detroit. It was also relatively well priced. I also had the Clam Chowder and that was excellent as well. It was freshly made (which isn’t always the case) and wasn’t overrun by potatoes like many other iterations. Tom is the Owner and he’s a great guy. He checked to make sure everything was up to snuff and our waitress was incredibly attentive. Combine that with the awesome riverside atmosphere and you have an amazing spot for lunch and drinks. Great job!

Tom and his staff are welcoming and provide great food and cold beer! The burger was outstanding and the highly acclaimed perch sandwich was great too. Kids loved the chicken tenders. Can’t wait to go back when in the area!

Have come here a few times since moving to Detroit. It's in a very old mostly abandoned industrial part of the city along the Detroit River, made better by nice new development nearby, adjoining a portion of the beautiful Detroit River Walk, and on a strip near the Atwater Grill with other businesses. Very nostalgic looking business whose interior including bathrooms have certainly seen better days, but made comfortable by the nice wait staff and VERY HOSPITABLE owner who is most always available and a pleasure to chat with. Generally speaking the food here is very good. I'd call this a must visit little foray into old Detroit, where you can get a nice meal and drinks well off the beaten path. I like it.

Andrews is a great place to grab a drink, some food, or both! We had the steak bites, roast beef sandwich and the Turkey Lentil soup. All were delicious! There is a small outdoor patio with seating and plenty of space inside. There is also a parking lot in the rear, so parking is no issue. Staff are super nice as well

Can't add anymore than what others have already said. Dive bar with that family feel. Excellent Lake Erie Perch dinner. Cooked/fried perfectly

Great little place. Good food, good beer. Better food than Atwater. Less busy room great place to meet before an event. They have a bus too. Not sure when it is in use but I would expect for tigers, lions and redwings games. I would call first to check.

Stopped here on a Friday night 3 minutes before the kitchen closed. Our awesome server got our order in and we had a delicious corned beef sandwich. The bartender Abby was amazing as well. Thanks Abby, we enjoyed some fabulous old fashioneds when we got back to the boat.

I am a local here. This is a family run business, who cares about their customer and their product. The food is so delicious here! I visit here probably weekly, and the food is consistently AMAZING! I LOVE IT!!!! I will forever love this place.

Andrews is great! It's over 100 years old, full of history. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It's a great neighborhood bar but don't let that fool you, their food is awesome. If you've never been, Andrew's is a perfect Detroit stop.

I must say that of all the places I've been to in Detroit while vacationing Andrews stood out. Excellent customer service. Jerod was on point! The food was delicious and for a reasonable price. Belle Isle ice tea was my favorite 😋

The owners name is Tom, he’s really a great guy. My husband and I go almost every Friday some Saturdays. The Drinks are good the Soup is Amazing don’t pass on the Tomato or Cream of Spinach. Staff is friendly and professional. It’s a home town atmosphere located in the warehouse district we give this establishment 👍👍👍👍👍

My husband and I stopped in specifically because Andrew’s is a family run business and has been for more than 100 years. Our bartender shared stories about the pub that spanned generations. She also wrote up a very detailed list of where to go in the city and why! We enjoyed a few beers, wished we had room in our bellies for more perch (their specialty!) and coleslaw (perfect). We’ll definitely be back!

This is a cozy little place with decent food. I like their sweet potato fries, fish & chips, soup, sandwiches, burgers. Basic food that is prepared well. Drinks are good. I visit this place often. Check it out!

Omg the food is amazing!!! The service is just as great!! Definitely gonna come back next time we are in town!! You really need to try the tequila mockingbird. A lot of places water down their drinks but not here. The drink was perfectly mixed AND I could taste the delicious Tequila!! DEF worth EVERY cent!

Came with our group from the Y. Great service outstanding catfish and fries. The owner came over to our section to make sure we were totally satisfied...and we were. I will definitely go back.

Tom and his team are fun, friendly, and full of energy. Food is fresh, hot, and delicious. Ask about stories from the prohibition era if you love history. If you dislike history, ask anyway.

This is one of the best older bars in Detroit. The owners are fabulous! I believe the family has owned it over 100 years. Food is very good and the location is great! Great place to take a group as well.

We dined in and actually the fish was very good. As well as the atmosphere, I would definitely eat there again. 👍👍🤗🥰

Food was great our waitress was nice. But both bathrooms had no paper towel or t.p. Plus the water faucet shot out water pretty hard. Maybe make the bathrooms a bit larger in the future. Urinals were squished together next to the sink. Overall place was good for a quick snack. The dining room and bar area was clean and well kept.

Rude service, Waitress was friendly to the male customers but seen me in y security uniform and was weird with me. and had to wait ten minutes for her to even approach me for my drink order and the place had three other customers. They burned my appetizer and the cheese dip wasn't even heated up and for $10 I'm sorry I had to send it back! They forgot cheese on my sandwich but I already felt like I complained enough, The male that brought my food out was kind though and he asked if I wanted a refill while the waitress sat and stared at me empty glass. I think I'll pass on returning solely on the staff attitude, I understand places are short staffed but I don't think that was the reason for her attitude towards me because she was chatty and personable with the male customers

Had a wonderful dinner here last night. The staff were in full hustle mode, running around making sure everyone had what they needed quickly even while suffering from the well-known pandemic staff shortage. The owner checked in on us frequently and was bussing tables and keeping things moving. The food was also delicious. Fish and chips - fish was super tender and delicious light breading. Beers cold and served quickly. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good pub.
