Loved the ambiance. Had nice seasonal drinks. Stopped here while taking the handlebar bike tour.

The Skip is the primary bar in the middle of The Belt. They have a small variety of frozen cocktails and also regular cocktails. The frozen ones are really good, but kinda small. During the weekends at night this place is really busy. There are other bars in the Belt to help take some pressure off of the Skip, but the traffic is usually here. The staff is nice too.

Make sure you have your ID because they check no matter your how many gray hairs you have. Cool vibrant spot in the alley. Drinks are usually good. Food isn't sold so grab a hotdog from the cart or pizza from Mootz.

Had such a great time. Staff was friendly. The fall drinks were great. The heated lamps kept us warm on a chilly day. The decorations were cute as well.

I recommend the Midwestern Trade winds and bartenders choice daiquiri.

Good service and nice area to chill. I only ever had drinks here in the summer and it is always a good time. For what it is, a outside bar, pretty cool. Multiple other restaurants located in same alley so plenty to do for a night.

Definitely get the smoked chicken nachos… they are SOOO GOOD!!! I’d also recommend happy hour if you can. The price for a small frozen cocktail otherwise seems a little pricey but happy hour hits a much better price point for the atmosphere and service. Fun stop if you’re looking to catch up with friends or kill some time.

Small fun bar located in the belt of Detroit. If you really enjoy art it's a good area to walk through and then you can grab a drink at the skip. Overall a great fun local Detroit stop that not a lot of people know about. Service was quick and friendly and we will definitely be back.

Opens at 4, we got there a bit before 4 and line was already long. Got wayyyy longer pretty quickly, and the space is small. Systematically got people in. Good and interesting tropical holiday cocktails. Super great for Christmas, but not very covid-safe.

Had a really good hot dog outside the Skip and proceeded inside for a drink. Really good drinks and cool atmosphere.

How can you go wrong? Sitting outside (even in an alley - you would never believe it was one), great service, yummy drinks, best of all just fantastic people watching. 5 stars given they only serve drinks and are in an alley.

It was Kool, I was hungry so we got nachos lol . They were delicious, just the pick me up I needed. I like this area of downtown Detroit, it's always good time's and good vibes.

We stumbled across this place while on our way to Ford Field. The Skip is an open air bar with a small indoor area and plenty of covered outside sitting. The atmosphere is a modern tiki bar vibe with plenty to look at. I got a frozen cucumber margarita and my husband the Skip Old Fashioned, we also shared a chicken nacho from The Skip food cart right next to the bar. The drinks were refreshing and hit the spot on a hot day and the Nachos were delicious! Drinks were around $10 a piece and the Nachos $15. I would definitely stop by here again.

Came here for a drink after having it recommended to me. They have a list of premade drinks that are themed. It has a cute vibe inside with cool colors. I got the cucumber margarita and it was delicious! I will definitely come here again.

horrible execution of a great idea. the it’s always sunny in philadelphia drink was terribly bitter and $14 for a short glass that was only 1/2 full and mostly ice. also, the snake plants are ugly.

Unburdened my incredibly strange and sad week on the two bartenders today. Thank you for listening and being real. And that’s the overall vibe, real people. Great piña. 🙏🏼

Great little tropical modern tiki bar located in The Belt. The staff are awesome and really enjoy creating delicious libations. Definitely worth a visit during the holidays as they have the honor of hosting Beachbum Berry's Sippin' Santa Christmas tiki pop-up. Try the Skip Old Fashioned and the Little Pigeon, they're both incredible drinks! The Skip is too small for a restroom, but a large restroom is located next door and is a very short walk away.

Unique cocktails and live music with amazing art around! Recommend totally

This gentrified alleyway has become a great place to meet ppl. downtown during the summer; strangers & otherwise. The Skip serves up a tasty frozen take on the Irish coffee.

It’s a nice place, in the pictures on google was shown that they have indoor seating but when we were there the indoor area was closed and we had to sit outside. The drinks are good but pricey for the amount they serve.

Very fun local bar!! The alley is a blast. Picnic tables outside. We didn't get any food. We were there during a large event, so prices were a little higher but not horrible. It was a perfect night to be outside.

Espresso martini from Josh was the best!! Jay makes a killer strawberry marg, too. Hands down best cocktails downtown.

Tropical tiki theme located in The Belt. They have indoor/outdoor seating. The drinks are really good and there usually is a food vendor in the alley as well! All of our party enjoyed their drinks! The frozen French 75 is delicious

There are two reasons that keep me coming back for more - their incredible Frozen Irish Coffee and their mouthwatering Smoked Chicken Nachos. The Frozen Irish Coffee here is a true game-changer. It’s the perfect blend of rich coffee flavor and a delightful Irish cream twist. Sipping on this icy treat is like a little piece of heaven, especially on a warm day. It’s become my go-to choice, and I can’t resist ordering it every single time.

Small but cozy Christmas pop up bar with some good Christmas cocktails and a good Christmas vibe! It’s a must visit during the holiday season .

Nice seasonal cocktails. The place is packed and almost always has a line to be seated. Good place to go for drinks with friends.

Loved loved this place. Open air and great drinks. How can you go wrong? The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly for being as busy as he was. He was very quick with his artful concoctions and pleasant. Seating was surprisingly plentiful and comfortable. We got seats right at the front so we could people watch easily. Great time. We will definitely be going back

Fun frozen drinks. A little grimy but what else can you expect from an ally bar!

There's never a bad time to go to the Skip. There were 12 of us when we stopped here for a drink. The service was fast and efficient and the drinks were good. I would say the frozen Irish Coffee was everyone's favorite.

A very cool space with some very cool people behind the bar. A small space made bigger by the tables space throughout the alley. The space itself is a visual wonderland. The drinks on the menu are creative and refreshing. The staff is very friendly and they make the most delicious and seemingly complicated drinks very quickly without missing a beat. A great spot to sit and have a few cocktails and recharge.

Rude and extremely disrespectful wait staff, completely out of nowhere and took me by surprise. I guess he was too cool to actually serve people and was extremely put out to have to take a drink order. I get it, you’re a too-cool-for-everyone hipster who lives in Detroit now - guess what, so so do a lot of people and we have been down here since before you were born and “the skip” was a series of abandoned buildings. Get a clue.

The Skip is easily one of the best spots in the city! Staff is ALWAYS trustworthy, efficient, and professional and drinks are delicious, of course! Props to them for doing the responsible thing and closing due to Covid cases.

  • 1/5 MICHELE D. 2 years ago on Google
Stopped by to enjoy some festive Christmas drinks only to be told that due to the ongoing pandemic they would not be open today or until after the new year for that matter. All the while while we stood outside we saw others inside drinking at the bar.! And their website does not denote that they are closed and will not be open until the new year.

Great tiki bar. Nice atmosphere. Pictured is a Pina colada and frozen cucumber margarita, which were both delicious.

Great place to go to ! In walking distance to almost everything. They have great holiday specials for drinks and shots and it's a very cool atmosphere! It's right across from mootz pizzeria which is also the BEST pizza 🍕 downtown! If you have friends or family from out of town it's a great place to start off the night!

Cool spot to hang out in. Wish it was more variety, bigger, more bars and restaurants. Otherwise I enjoyed it and will go back.
