Elegant and easy going vibe. Don’t look at the menu, just tell your server what flavours you like. My “something Baileys-ey and coffee-ee” yielded a delicious drink called the “Improved Coffee Cocktail”. Come for date night and sit at the bar!

Interesting place. Taxidermy catches me off guard at first. Depending on the bartender, cocktails are made well. They offer snack plates and a plethora of drink options. Like that they sell "to go" bottles of cocktails. Two cocktails a bottle. Establishment always seems to be packed and customer service is top notch.

Amazing drinks, great vibe, and great people! Stopped here for drinks with friend while waiting on another order. I had the perfectly crafted Landing on Lavender drink and my friend was recommended the Bee Sting. Well balanced and unique drinks!

Well, this just may be my new favorite cocktail bar in the midwest. Started half a decade ago by a fellow Chicagoan who also loved The Violet Hour, The Sugar House takes its cues from that venerable spot and ups the ante, offering unbelievable cocktails in house and to go. Their whiskey list, while on the above-market-price side of things, is so good you kind of don't even care. Servers, and service, are great, knowledgable and friendly, making two out of towners feel very much at home. Though our reservation ended, we were so in love with the place we wanted to stay longer - they found a way to accommodate us, and we couldn't have happier. In fact, Sugar House was so good we came back to close out the night, we just couldn't leave town without trying another cocktail (and bringing one back to-go). The EFT is their biggest seller, and it's easy to see why. But, everything we had here was excellent; perfectly balanced ingredients that are always more than the sum of their parts. We've got some great cocktail bars in Chicago, but places like The Sugar House show that Detroit is hot on our wheels. Just a great experience. Tip: Ask about the truffle popcorn. It's complementary, incredible, and addicting.

Still one of the best cocktail bars in the city. But you knew that already, didn't you? The bartenders always make you feel right at home. They have an expansive selection of drinks and liqueurs from all over the world, so don't be afraid to try something new.

The Sugar House is a great little bar with an outstanding drink menu. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. They have a large list of specialty cocktails, but also have all of the classics you’d expect at a bar such as this. The look of the bar inside is great with lots to look at. The people watching is great and watching peoples faces when they order some crazy drink and the bartenders pour them is great!

If you are into high end cocktails, do yourself a favor and visit The Sugar House. Phenomenal selection of drinks, to fit anyone's taste or mood. The drinks here are truly works of art. This is the equivalent of high end dinning for the drinker. Not only are the drinks delicious, but the bar setting is awesome. Fun place to have some drinks, and conversation with friends. Have visited here many times, and always an enjoyable experience. Definitely recommend!

Great cocktail menu. Service was very personable and the drinks were amazing. You will need reservations and there is a 90 minute limit per table.

Was my pick for my birthday. We've never been here and took a chance on being a walk-in couple. Wow! This place was incredible. The atmosphere is calming, and taxidermy is fun. We were even lucky enough to be able to sit at the bar. The wealth of knowledge Tony had about the drinks, different liquors, and the history behind the labels was astonishing. Perfect birthday and great conversation! We will be back for sure to see Tony and let him make surprise drinks for us.

Had an amazing time here and had great drinks with a friend. Never be afraid to tell the bartender "dealers choice". You will not be disappointed I assure you. A little pricey but totally worth a visit.

Always love going to this cocktail bar for drinks. My gf and I usually don’t know what we want to drink so each time we have gone we were paired up with the mixologist “Jay-Y” (think that’s how it’s spelled) and he’s been able to suggest drinks based off of a couple of questions he asked us. Very happy with this place and can’t wait to make another trip back here :)

Amazing place, amazing people. Highly recommend it. The cocktail menu is extensive and so so good. And even if you don’t want something off the 101 classic cocktails menu, the bartenders are so talented that you can just describe the profile of the drink you’re looking for and they’ll make it for you. Love the cosy cocktail bar ambience here. They have bar snacks not on the menu so make sure to ask your server for them.

Great vibes and talented mixologists. If you can’t decide on a cocktail listed on the menu, bartender can whip up a cocktail if you tell them what sort of flavor and spirit you prefer.

Came here and was immediately greeted, and seated. The atmosphere was GREAT. Low lights, but not too low. Good music that wasn’t too loud. The server was very friendly and fast. Plus the drinks were stellar. Would recommend.

Awesome place to be with friends! We had a great time and amazing service. Some of our top favorites were Long Live the Queen & Improved Coffee Cocktail. We were able to work with our mixologist to each get something we wanted & to explore new tastes. Great experience for anyone in Corktown!

Best to make a reservation. Tables went really fast. There's NO food, even though there's other reviews with food and a menu mentioned, etc. I wanted some snacks with my drinks and there's nothing at all. Eat before or go somewhere else. The place is VERY loud and crowded. So loud you have to yell at the person next to you or at your table. The drinks, I didn't write taste anything I really liked or loved, but my husband did. The music choice is interesting and I liked hearing new things. It is hard to get ahold of yours server in account of how busy and cramped it is. A woman was standing next to a table talking to her friends and it was impossible to flag down the waiter with her standing. Drinks were nice to look at as well. There's a lot on the menu as well. They have street parking, so be prepared to find a lot if there's nothing.

A staple for my partner and I. Amazing drinks to satisfy whatever craving we have, whether off the menu or created by one of the mixologists on the spot. Every drink I've had is delicious.

It's a ssmall little quaint bar off of Michigan Avenue. Very extensive drink menu I didn't know what I wanted to get so I had the waiter choose something for me and it was delicious I think it was called a Saturn. And.

Very quaint and cozy bar with specialty drinks. Popcorn was nice but not fresh and hot. Drinks were strong and refreshing.

Best cocktails hands down. If your from town, out of town, the moon, you must make a stop here when you are in Detroit. Sit at the bar if you can for some excellent customer service and a show. Watching the bartenders do their thing is magical and knowing how much work they put into each drink makes it taste that much better. Quality and class all around.

An extremely unique experience. The staff is extremely knowledgeable in how the cocktails are made and why. The staff was readily available to answer questions if you saw something funky being made. Don't worry if you feel intimated by the vast selection of various spirits, just ask.

This is one of my favorite bars in Detroit. They literally have something for EVERYONE. They are very knowledgeable and its such a sweet chilled vibe. I had the cork town sour and it was great!

Absolutely fantastic! Amazingly crafted cocktails in a comfortable atmosphere. The staff are expert mixologists (there may be an even better term for what they do), and the drinks are superb. Quality craft cocktails will always be more expensive than a simple mixed drink, so if you haven't visited many craft cocktail bars be prepared to spend a bit more. The prices are very fair and the value is fantastic for the experience! It's definitely worth a visit, especially for a date or a friend outing!
