The worst experience of bbq I have ever had. The rib tips were burnt and hard to chew. The sauce was very greasy with a strong tomato taste. The Carmel cake tasted like a box cake and the icing was not good at all. When I received my order, I received a BURNT piece of cornbread. When I alerted the server, she said she would get me another piece. She came back with what you see below and it was ice cold!! She said that’s all she could offer me. UNACCEPTABLE!!!! My meal cost $27.00 and the only thing that was edible were the sides. The greens were delicious and the Mac and cheese, although cold, was good as well. I am very dissatisfied. I try to support black businesses wherever I travel and I was not happy with this experience at all!! I DO NOT recommend this business at all!!

The atmosphere was nice live entertainment comfortable seating nice decor . The wait staff on the Sunday, Sunday I patronize we're working overtime to keep up with demand I appreciate all their efforts; however the the drinks were sent back a few times. The entrees looked fabulous picture perfect the vegetable were cold. One would expect warm food and flavorful drinks when investing our time and over $1K for dinner . Over all it was not a bad experience but a few elements left us questioning. We would go again maybe a different day with only 2 people in our party. We had 12 people but three servers.

Had a great time with my family and friends this is where I will be coming regularly on Saturdays from now on. Everyone there was very supportive and my sister which went to Karaoke for the second time wants to come back!! The salad we ordered was very good, expensive but very good and fresh! I would give it full 5 stars but everything there is so expensive. The waitress, I wish I could remember her name but she was very informative, interpersonal, smiled and attentive! Thank you luv!!

Amazing energy. If there's a such thing as relaxed upbeat, this place is it! I got to meet the owner while there and he gave me some history and a tour. His dad was Bert. The Dj was fun and watching the dancers step was entertaining. They had a vegan burger for me to order! A must go...

Oh my goodness where do I start I have nevvvver seen Mac and cheese like this in my life the worse and BABBBY THE YAMS yuck no home made no nutmeg no butter no sugar the worse hhhhmmmm the Cornbread was ice.cccold just a total disappointment 😫 😑 😢 😩 😒 😔 and I didn't even have breakfast waiting too eat at BURTS very very dissatisfied I was sooooo upset anyway yes Refund time if I could rate a zero I would have selected it

I went there last night & had a blast! There is now outdoor seating, in case you are worried about sitting too close or being inside. The DJ was outside so we got to listen to music while eating. I had the Stevie Wonder whiting fish dinner - the fish was so good & cooked to perfection! It was crispy and seasoned well - melted in my mouth. I had the side dishes of Mac & cheese and collard greens. The Mac & cheese was flavorful, nice & cheesy. The greens were a little spicy - not so crazy about those. And I got the Carmel cake. I haven't had that before so I thought it was great! The icing was good & I will say the cake tasted like it may have been boxed cake. I would totally order this Whiting dinner again, except I would not order the greens. I would pick something different. The drink? I had an 1800 Margarita. I had two of those and was good the whole night. That's is my NEW drink from here on out that I will be ordering that when I go out. They were $12 each but worth it

This place still maintains its relaxed atmosphere, while appealing to a variety of cultures all centered around their delicious soul-inspired menu. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience from the service to the flavorful dishes!

Ordered the fried catfish dinner with mac n cheese and fries. The fish was mushy & undercooked, the mac n cheese had no seasoning & was so runny you had to use a spoon to pick it up. There was no tarter sauce , hot sauce or even ketchup. The carrot cake was obviously not homemade, stale and the sliver was definitely not worth $7.00.Bert's used to be known for good soul food. Guess that passed away with Bert. What a waste of money!!

Jazz Sunday,great music. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Never got our food, only got 1 lemonade. Very understaffed and that is a shame. Don't go hungry, you may not get your food. MUSIC WAS GREAT, only reason to go there.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would!! We sat there for OVER an hour and never got our food!!! Two of my girlfriends and I went on a whim, because neither of us had ever been. When we arrived we sat ourselves. The place was busy but everyone seemed to be enjoying the food. There was one waitress who seemed to be rushing around. She blurted out to us "Welcome to Bert's!" and smacked 3 menus on our table and hurried away. About 10 minutes later she came back to take our orders. At that time we placed a drink and food order. We waited at least 15 minutes for our drinks, at that point we asked where are our drinks? She said let me see what's taking so long. She then came back to our table and asked what we ordered. We restated our order and she brought our drinks right away,...which mine was wrong! We then inquired about our food order, which by this time had been at least 30 minutes or more. She said let me go check on that. At that time a party of about 8 people had come in. They were greeted by another server and placed their order. My group sat there talking and laughing, nursing our too sweet margaritas. While the party of 8 got their drinks and food and was on the way out the door. While my group sat there with half empty drinks and NO FOOD!!!!.... I myself was over the Bert's experience at this point and was ready to go. When we voiced our disappointment in the service to the manager she apologized and offered to give us THE SIDES that we ordered, but not comp the ENTIRE MEAL. We had to pay for our drinks. I voiced that I wasn't paying for anything and that they can keep the sides because apparently they didn't want me to have them in the first place. That was my first AND LAST time going there. And that's a shame!! This place would be great if the service was up to par!

I almost gave 3 stars, but I found the prices to be way over priced and we waited for about 40 min after we ordered being the only people in there except for the people at the bar. My son ordered chicken strips with fries, $18! Plus $2 for a water... I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I'm a huge smoked BBQ food lover and it was nothing special. It was good, but no real smoked taste it. My wife had a bacon burger. She said it was ok.

Great BBQ and service on a Tuesday. Chill scene with jazz music and art. Ribs were yummy with the side of Mac and cheese/String beans. Worth the visit if you have never been.

Was there years ago.. delivering to Wolverine Packaging. First time they had a cafeteria set up serving up to go orders.. I got ham pineapple and cherry with greens and Mac and cheese.. Second time was a dine in got some pork chops and checked out some live music.. Soul Food in Motown Baby!!!

Nostalgic is how I would describe this place. The main area has a neighborhood bar / juke joint type of feel. Mature crowd and great music. I love that they open up the outside in the warmer months. You can smell the bbq and hear the sounds of a good time from blocks away. My only real complaint is the prices. For example, a slice of cake is $7 ... Mostly, everything on the menu is overpriced.

I was there on a date! He asked what I would like to drink I said water for now. For the next 2hrs I sipped on one bottle of water and he sipped on a bear🤦🏽‍♀️. However the atmosphere of the bar area and the music was enjoyable! First and last date🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
